With the World Cup on pause for a couple of days, we take time to delve into the domestic data from the 2013/14 season. In the first of a series of features focussing on the KPI statistics in the Members area, we assess the most improved forwards over the season gone by, listing the main players in accordance with goal attempts from inside the box:

For the unfamiliar, these Key Performers Indicator (KPI) tables are designed to use a series of key stats to allow our members to track form or change in player performance. By tracking the frequency of certain key statistics and comparing over two separate periods of time, we can ascertain each player’s form, whether it be an improvement or decrease in displays on the pitch. As mentioned in last summer’s introductory article, we’ve rolled out a preview movie which shows just how to get the best out of the KPI tables.

For the purpose of this series of articles, we analyse the previous two seasons as a means of comparison:

If Shurrle starts, anyone going with him instead of Muller?

I'm tempted, but can't really do much with that extra cash + there's good chance game goes extra time and Muller is guaranteed to play it all.

Then again, at the same time I'm playing with idea of only Messi & Robben at top and also upgrading Muller to Neymar 😕
All this talk about avoiding Neymar is somehow making me very interested!
I think people are underestimating Brazil and overestimating Colombia atm.

  I think u should decide ur basic formation first and then select ur forwards. It doesnt make sense to have 4 good forwards if going with 4-4-2

Spanish reports say that Atletico Madrid only earned £12million of Diego Costa's £32 million move to Chelsea. Read more to know why
-SC Braga is entitled to 20% of Costa's next transfer earning €7.6 million from the deal.
-FIFA regulations state that any team who helped Costa between 16-23 earns a sum from his next transfer. This means Penafiel, Celta Vigo, Albacete, Valladolid and Rayo Vallecano all earn a percentage on top of what SC Braga earned.
-Finally, Atletico has a deal with the government that 50% of any sale must be paid to them. This means that the club only earned €14.7 million.

So who's goin with just 2 strikers? playing 5 at the back seems the best bet and you can only play 2 upfront if you do so. the dutch boys play the last game so its a huge risk having robben/rvp as you cant sub em out and France-Germany looks like its gonna be a very cagey game with RBs galore rather than goals

  I am going with 5-3-2 in mind . 7 defenders and 4 good middies with one 2 budget in case something went horribly wrong and then exactly 2 forwards. May even shift to 5-4-1 in some unforeseen circumstances.

: Why would they need a poor man's Modric? I think Khedira/Alonso is the perfect foil for Modric in the double pivot.

  Not really. The top forwards and attacking mids are routinely under-priced. Everyone will have RVP/Aguero/Hazard/Walcott if they don't have RVP/Suarez/Hazard/Walcott. Getting this players needs to be a decision. They should be price something like:
  RVP -- 13.5
  Suarez -- 15
  Hazard -- 11.5
  Walcott -- 11
  Aguero --14
  
  But they'll all be underpriced by 1-2 million.

    I have Giancarlo Gonzalez in team at the mo, not sure ill gamble on Basanta at the mo,
    Can't afford to really as currently have Neymar, Muller, Messi, Robben upfront (still debating this) as I like the fact it gives me a striker in each of the games allows a twist and an excellent (c) choice - thoughts / Rank iInnsie ?

      If you're looking for an Argentine defender get Fernandez, he's 5m and a RB magnet. 4 strikers is an interesting tactic, my latest draft contains only 2 playing strikers 😯 I think defenders could be the best captain choices as teams tighten up at this stage of the tournament and less goals are scored.
