With the season now just a fortnight away, we turn our attentions to a number of kindly priced midfielders in our latest article for members. Picking the right combinations in the mid-price bracket looks crucial to a strong start and with Fantasy managers debating the merits of a number of targets, we scour the statistics to assess their previous form.

For the purpose of this article, we’ve selected seven midfielders, no more than 6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, who have proven popular picks so far and/or are set for some favourable opening fixtures – potentially affording them the chance to hand us an early-season bandwagon. Comparing their respective statistics, we also dig deeper into seasons gone by in our attempt to ascertain the best options for our initial lineups.

      From what I read, Hazard wernt great, came on as sub... Can't comment on Fabregas, but can't really think much came out of it losing

    Pretty happy with this, although defenders will need to be reassessed closer to season once I have a better idea of who is nailed on. Sig and Bojan rotate perfectly.

    If Jordan Ibe IS to be given a starting role in the new season who would he be replacing from last years team? - Coutinho perhaps.

    After his display against Milan he seems to be in the sort of form Raheem was before his breakthrough season and I'm trying to decide whether it's too early still for him as a fantasy prospect..

      Ibe has been exceptional in pre season and has huge potential, quite similar to Sterling in most aspects of his game. Think this season may come too soon for him to make a breakthrough though, with Sterling, Markovic, Coutinho and Lallana ahead of him in the pecking order. But that said if he does manage to break into the first team like Sterling did this season 4.5 would be an absolute steal
