With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the  Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please encourage those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial lineups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

First up, I’ve decided to post my current lineup. I’ve opted for a squad that has a spread of money across the positions, with two rotating goalkeepers and a strong focus on the four to five teams I think are most likely to profit from goals and clean sheets. It also shows a strong bias towards those teams with favourable early fixtures and, hopefully, it’s set up to be flexible enough to make quick early repairs.

Guzan (Krul)

Terry Evans NTaylor (Wisdom, Duff)

Ramsey Hazard Mata Henderson (Albrighton)

Rooney Adebayor Dzeko

0.5m in the bank

My main deliberation surrounds whether to go with Diego Costa up front and and an 8.5 midfielder, probably Rahaeem Sterling, instead of my current selection of Emmanuel Adebayor and Eden Hazard. That gives me a Gameweek 2 option to possibly swap one of Jordan Henderson or Sterling for Gylfi Sigurdsson, although I’m happy to keep both those Liverpool midfielders if a transfer is urgently required elsewhere. I do feel that Hazard will be the top source of Chelsea points, however.

Alternatively, I could stick with Hazard and a 9.0 striker. Of this group, the main options seem to be Romelu Lukaku and Adebayor. This also gives me flexibility to hop on any emerging strikers who show promise for 8.5 or less. As you can see, I’m currently favouring this option.

Feel free to get stuck in with your feedback. We look forward to scanning your RMT’s throughout the day on this article.

There's a few punts in there - perhaps a few too many. Luis, Lamela and Jovetic could all come off but if a couple fail to get regular starts, your early transfers are tied up and you won't be able to react to form or emerging bargains. I'd be wary and perhaps cut one of those risks back.

Yeah, Mbiwa over Colo is a bit odd - what's the thinking there? Same price. Rosenior could be a slight risk with Elmo possibly competing for starts if Bruce goes 442.

Just tweaked mine again, now convinced I need triple Utd and Shaw's game time is too worrying in the 3-5-2 system to justify the 6.0m price. So, RVP Howard Shaw Snodgrass > Rooney DDG Davies Mata leaves me with this..

    DDG
    Debuchy Luis Davies
    Nasri Eriksen Ramsey Mata Siggy
    Rooney(c) Costa

    Bobby Z Wisdom Yun

I feel this leaves me with solid top five cover at the back. I think Luis and Davies will play most games as the managers have only just brought them in. Azpi might nick a few, but I think he'll get most starts at RB this year and Terry will suffer a little.

LVG loves Rooney so he's nailed, and Costa has already started well and has very little competition for his place compared to the Chels mids. I see 40 league goals of those strikers.

Having Nasri negates any of the old Dzeko rotation nonsense, although the option is still there with a switch to 3-4-3. Only flaw is lack of Liverpool, again I may swap Mata for Sterling or Bony if he get's his move. We'll see. But with 0.5m lee-way for each I can take my time over the first two game weeks.

Very happy, I think I'm done!

Not seeing the whole Davies is nailed thing, personally. Rose is at least a match for him and was already established, injuries aside.

Nasri only negate the city striker conundrum if he matches their scoring. I wouldn't bank on it.

3-4-3 always wins out in the end.

strong team, but i'd rather put nasri on the bench as a cheap 5th (N'Zogbia 😀 ) and upgrade BZ to Jovetic.

Looks strong - Manonne slight risk as we're not sure on Poyet's intentions and you don't want to make an early keeper transfer. Wisdom's long-term fortunes depends on these new Baggies full-back bids but he should be okay for a few GW's given their injuries. Like the midfield although not completey sold on Barkley, that's your downgrade if you need funds elsewhere.

    Krul Foster

    Shaw Debuchy B.Davies Cameron N.Taylor

    Hazard Mata Eriksen Sigurdsson Ward-Prowse

    Sturridge Rooney Fletcher

    A) Mata, Ramsey/Ozil or Silva?

    B) Would you prefer Silva/Sterling & Giroud/Bony/Dzeko or Sigurdsson & Sturridge?

    B) There is 3 places up for grabs. Money to spend 16.5 on 4th and 5th Mid and 3rd Striker, Best options?

I think Fletcher is your weak link there. Also Sturridge and Rooney is good but is a combination I found came with limits elsewhere. Worth a thought ditching Sturridge and going for Sterling and another striker as you suggest.

Yeah, I think Sturridge to Sterling initially could work, I'm leaning that way now.

        A) Perhaps Mata initially, Ramsey long-term.
        B) Siggy and Sturridge long-term but Sterling & Bony may well work out more profitable in the early GW's given Sturridge's lack of pre-season and Sterling's form.

On the one hand I think that Cameron had a good season, Bardsley isn't very good, etc but yet on Stoke forums they don't seem to mind Cameron leaving the club if they have to decide between him and Wilson to leave. Surely not nailed if a number of fans wouldn't mind him going as they don't expect him to feature much.

    Mannone (Krul)

Caulker - Wisdom - Cahill - Debuchy (BDavies)

    Mata - Sanchez - Tadic (Ince-Siggy)

    Rooney - Costa - Bojan

Nice. Not sure about Arsenal defence with their fixtures. Tadic = what kind of player is he? DM/AM? Sanchez and Costa too much risk?

Tadic is AM. So far does pretty good in pre-season. Costa as well.I am willing to risk Sanchez. I prefer having him and downgrading if he doesn't hit the ground running rather than having to find funds to upgrade.

looks decent but same issues most people seem to have is that all your defence bar Evans is not nailed on.

it just seems crazy to start a season with 3/4 players that are not 100% starters. its going to cause serious transfer headaches. if you have 2 defenders that are not nailed on at least your bench can cover.

Looks good Jonty, my one main concern would be the 0.5 in the bank. If you're already planning a transfer for GW2 that you won't need the extra cash for, then I'd say using it on a defender so you have someone better than N. Taylor to start might be worth a go. Or upgrading Duff just for long term security.

Hi, cheers for the feedback. I don't have a particular transfer in mind. Just know that a transfer will need to be made unless I've struck gold and got the season's perfect squad early on. The 0.5 just sort of ended up that way due to the combination of players I want.

    RMT please ...
    Courtois / Krul
    Debuchy/Evans/Kompany (Wisdom,Cameron)
    Barkley/Fabregas/Ramsey/Young/Can
    Lukaku/Costa/Jovetic

May downgrade Courtois if Jose wavers towards Cech ... and similarly may swap Jovetic for Dzeko

      A few issues:
Courtois and Krul are too much for GKs. downgrade Krul to 4.0m.
Look at Kompany's and Barkley's early fixtures - i would avoid.
      Can will not play regularly...
      Jovetic is serious gametime risk.

Really great idea for an artical Jonty. And nice team. I prefer Siggy to Henderson for the time being, as Liverpool's points will come elsewhere via Sturridge, Coutinho and Sterling IMO, then Gerrard on set-pieces. Swansea will look to Siggy and Bony for the most part. Henderson could be a big player for us this season though for sure.

Adebayor is a brave choice. I expect Pottichino to get the best out of Soldado. How about a Hull striker? Not a glamorous pick, but with those fixtures Long or Jelly could bring home the bacon?

i agree with you about Hendo as well. He is going to have a massive season for us but from a fantasy point of view don't know if he will explode. He seems to be off most people's radar and is easy to draft in if he plays more attacking.

The Spurs striker is a concern, Kane has scored a few pre season too. New manager so we don't know who he favours yet.

Austin is a good 6 punt as well as the Hull duo

cheers for the feedback - I plan to have siggy at some point ...I also see not having him v ManU as stealing a march on all those that do and will be starting him..can't see more than 2pts for him in that game. He's priced so low that I can handle a few price rises if he becomes essential. This is the key for me...have a team that can easily get bandwagons.

I would go with the proposed changes you mentioned. Personally I'm concerned about Eriksen as an FPL prospect, he was frozen out by AVB only to be re-introduced by Sherwood. Not sure how Poch will use him yet especially with Lamella given a lot of praise by the new manager.

Between Remy and Bony I'd back the latter, mainly because he is a solid performer for Swansea whereas Remy probably won't be as effective at QPR. Both are doubts however as they could potentially move clubs before the window closes.

Best advice is don't plan a particular transfer. Have money in the bank but more often than not you will need that money for another unexpected transfer. What if Rooney gets injured first game? Then you could be stuck with Austin for ages. Best to pick players that you'd keep beyond gwk 1.

Marney should be nailed on for Burnley, surely? Not much attacking potential as the likes of Albrighton but is he going to get the game time?

I have been looking at the idea of getting Speroni and a United defender. Palace were looking really solid towards the end of last season under Pulis. But I am not sure if I feel comfortable playing him every week.

I wouldn't be happy with that defence

Luis -> Not quite nailed, cannot 100% guarantee he will start so at 6m its a risk.
Debuchy -> Not the easiest fixtures straight away, also with Mertesacker being eased back in expect defensive frailties
Mariappa -> Not really good enough to start, talk of Palace signing a new fullback
Vlaar -> Future in doubt, linked to clubs in europe

Henderson, Marney, Bojan - 3 questionable fantasy assets is probably too much.

Some great points Ryan, thanks. I will look to address these issues.

        - Preferred Chelsea defender? Worth the extra dollar for Cahill over Azpi?
        - Sort of agree on the Debuchy point (Arsenal fan) Would love to think Chambers was set to play the first couple of GW's.
        - Playing with the idea of getting Speroni to cover the palace defence
        - Struggling with the budget defenders....

Henderson can easily be changed to Siggy, but with Bony potentially leaving is he as desirable? Bojan is a bit of a punt with the good pre-season he has been having and Stoke's fixtures.

    Foster (Myhill)
Baines - Terry - Wisdom (Yoshida, Mariappa)
Mata - Fabregas - Ramsey - Young (Albrighton)
