The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

The next up is our fixtures specialist Roscola.

Begovic – (Gilks)
Azpilicueta – Evans – van Aanholt – (Wisdom – Bartley)
Mata – Fabregas – Ramsey – Sterling – Sigurdsson
Rooney – Costa – (Zamora)

Roscola admits his team has a major flaw in that it is potentially benchless. He says though that he’s happy for QPR striker Bobby Zamora never to play, because this is a 3-5-2 that reverts to four at the back for first sub. He believes that there are more points available in the budget bracket in defence than further upfield. Sticking with this basic strategy he is looking for advice to find extra funds to invest in his bench. Downgrading Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas to Manchester City’s Samir Nasri is one option he is considering.

      Isla has just signed not sure about fitness, chambers will only start 1/2 more games at most, isnt Kaboul on his way out of spurs? Arteta wont start every game either, id go for mutch/siggy/henderson

    Allright, after a days of tinkering, here's my first RMT. Comments welcome 😉

    Begovic - Krul
    Evans - Ward - PVA - Duff - Wisdom
    Ramsey - Mata - Sterling - Eriksen - Siggy
    Rooney - Costa - Bojan

    0.5 in the bank. Plan is to rotate Bojan and Siggy.
    Possible dilemas:
    Sterling -> Fabregas (maybe after GW 1 but we all know how it is with planned transfers)
    Bojan -> Fletcher OR Wickham (both proven in PL but slightly tougher fixtures, also don't rotate that well with Siggy)

      Lovely but i'd downgrade Krul to Gilks and upgrade Duff or Wisdom to a 4.5 to give your backline more security

        You might be on to something, i should play Bego most of the time in the beginning of the season and i do feel my defence still needs some reinforcement.

      Nice team, good plan to keep 0.5 in the bank. But I would do Krul > 4.0.

      You'd then have 1m and maybe consider Eriksen > Silva/Nasri? Just looking out in terms of "coverage" but depends if you believe in that strategy

        I'm just not sure with City. the looked awful on sunday (but that will change i'm sure). I rate Eriksen very much (good memories from last season 🙂 ) But thanks for input.

    Would have "coverage" of the big teams, but at the same time i do feel these players will score well individually.

      You need atleast one big team defender if you plan to rotate others, do either sturridge to costa or hazard to fabregas to fund it, also not sold on Krul, try and find 0.5 to upgrade to Bego

    What do people think of keeping 2mil in the bank GW1?

    I'm currently on:

    Begovic - Gilks

    Cahill - Evans - Chambers - Wisdom - Bartley

    Sanchez - Hazard - Mata - Henderson - Wanyama

    Rooney - Dzeko - Bojan

    - have the more expensive mids from ARS/CHE, so can switch down easily

    - otherwise the 2.0 allows me to fix a punt or jump on a bandwagon, e.g. Henderson->Erisken/Lamela/Tadic, Bojan->Pelle/Remy, Dzeko->Costa etc

    - the 4.5 and below spots are open to change depending on who's looking likely to start or not, any suggestions welcome

      Marney over Isgrove, and just my preference but I don't really like Giroud over Bony/Ade/Dzeko and that backline if a bit weak as Chambers will lose his starting spot by GW2

    I know that defence is nothing special, but I think that it can be justified by that Front 7 I can afford.
    And CPL defence is good enough under Pulis to be played in almost every game (just ars, mun, tot in first 15 GWs, when I am gonna bench Ward) and there are 2 good rotations in SUN/NEW and STO/SWA.

    Thoughts, please? 🙂

      Cahill, Lovren, Debuchy, Siggy FOR SURE! Boyd should def be swapped for Sigurdsson though if you weren't planning on that. Probably better choices than Boyd for a cheap midfielder. 5 defenders at 5M+ each would be better spent with only 3 or 4 and one cheap 4M defender to free up another 1-1.5M at least, to upgrade Boyd or swap Eriksen and still get Mata. Just my 2 cents...

    Which striker for 5.5M? If not Bojan (which everyone seems to choose, honestly I don't know why. His stats don't look great- 4 goals in 24 appearances for Ajax is terrible IMO), then what about Weimann, Berahino, Anichebe, or Nugent? I like Nugent, but Lei City's schedule for a bit is not easy. Weimann and Berahino look good to me going in though. Your thoughts?

      Have a look at Fletchers history at Sunderland. With fairly decent fixtures early doors, he should be worth more than 5.5 to your team...If he stays fit!

          I think they can. With Tarrabt, Mutch, and Hoilett in the midfield, as well as Remy up top with Austin, i think they could get some goals for sure. Time will tell though...The only thing is that Austin will be battling with his teammate Remy for goals, at least for FPL.

    1) Would you trade out Ozil and Hendo for Gerrard and Puncheon?

    2) Would you switch Pelle for Remy?

      Aguero for Dzeko for now given he is not in top form at the moment, which will free up 3.5M for the midfield to upgrade.

      Pelle/Remy is 50/50 IMO. Either is fine...

      Front line looks good, but Young and Navas are questionable. Maybe downgrade sturridge and upgrade those two. Thats what I would do...Be better going Rooney/Dzeko/Jovetic/maybe Remy/Pelle, and taking the extra 3-4M and upping Young and Navas to Mata/Ramsey/Silva/Eriksen. Just my 2 cents...

      Only conceded 4 on their pre-season tour, 3 of which were pens and the other a ridiculous long ranger for which the keeper was at fault...oh, and those fixtures! 🙂

    About to go on holiday and desperately want to settle on a team but feeling very indecisive!

    At the moment...

    Begovic (Gilks)

    PVA, Bavies, Wisdom (O'Shea, Clyne)

    Mata, Fabregas, Ramsey, Siggy (Albrighton)

    Rooney, Jovetic, Costa

    I have 1 million in the bank to upgrade Fab to Hazard or upgrade a defender. Also not sure whether to change Siggy to Henderson, or downgrade Costa to free up more funds.

    As you can see, i'm not sure of much. RMT please and any advice greatly appreciated!

      Hi,

      I would spend some of that money on your defence. In my eyes is screaming for a Cahill or a jones/Evans. Maybe downgrade jovetic to someone like pelle or bojan.
