The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Alex is not thrilled about having Gylfi Sigurdsson on the bench for the first Gameweek so he is open to alternative suggestions for his fifth midfield slot. He is adopting a wait-and-see aproach regarding Chelsea midfielders, Arsenal and Manchester City. Is he right to wait?

      Similar to mine but I went with Begovic in goal since I like Stoke's fixtures early on, Evans instead of Debuchy because I wanted a Man Utd defender, and Jovetic instead of Dzeko.

      I'd opt for Eriksen over Lamela for reasons I posted above, but Lamela will definitely be exciting to watch/have.

      Ward is injured (just announced recently I think). I opted for Mariappa instead.

      Rest looks good! Wanyama also a potential option for 4.5

    Hi all i got an soft spot for stokes defensive this season, after their fine defensive stats last season. only thing is that im not entirely sure about their starters in the defense

      Pretty good balance but have concerns on Bojan.

      Like: Begovic | Cahill | Evans | Ward | NTaylor | Mata | Fabregas | Eriksen | Ramsey | Siggy | Rooney | Dzeko
      Dislike: Bojan

      It's a really tricky one on Bojan. Take him and you can massively strengthen the rest of your team. But have concerns if he gets dropped or just does not perform.

      Near enough my team (see below) but I've tried to get an extra forward into mine so slightly less in Mid and Def.

      Like: Krul / Evans / Debuchy / Eriksen | Ramsey | Hazard | Mata | Rooney | Jovetic

        I think Sterling as the only coverage from Liverpool is a safe bet though. I'm either going to get him or Coutinho... and Coutinho is 0.5 cheaper and will be playing in the 'hole' behind sturridge...

        The bench is always a problem, but all of them will play at least! apart from 4m keeper.

        I like your squad, I still think Siggy is a wild card, I would drop Dzeko to Bojan and get Siggy to Silva/Sterling/Coutinho/Eriksen.

      If you got that much money left you should prob upgrade a defender to Evens or Gilks for DDG.
      But other than that great team!

        Thanks, I was thinking about Evans (6.5 in this league or Jones 6.1). I like to leave some money in the bank in this league as they allow several transfers, so it gives room to upgrade.

        Is Jones as nailed on as Evans?

        DDG is expensive, 7.2. (Bego is 5.8) Will Cesar play for QPR?

          I think Jones is nailed on as long as Man U dont sign anyone else, and not sure about Cesar. And ya, dont go for a 7.2 mil keeper, didnt realize it was so high.

      Not too sure on Lukaku, rumored unfit. Two Liverpool in midfield, Eriksen instead of Sterling? Too heavy in attack imo, but nevertheless solid team.

        Oh and is it worth having Krul as a back-up? Apart from their match against Man City, I would not bench Begovic once in the first 10 weeks or so. And I'll be hoping he gets save points from that game, so I'm going with Begovic and a 4.0.

        Thanks - I originally thought that, but put off by potential non-starts.

        I was thinking Silva/Bojan purely because Swansea have poor fixtures

          I think Siggy is definitely going to start but there is uncertainty with Giroud/Dzeko atm though i think both will likely start GW1

          As an out there shout you could go Barkley (7) Remy (7.5) both certain starts but not the easiest of games, but if remy gets transferred before the start of the season could be a steal

      Begovic (Kruul) - fitting swaps until gw 14 or something.
      Clyne Taylor Chambers Evans Manquillo
      Hazzard Eriksen Ramsey Huddlestone Mata
      Rooney Bojan Adebayor

      Thoughts: A bit weak on top but think ade can make an early impact due to new manager and a more set midfield. Rooney captain material but missing out on Costa thought not yet proven. Could swap with hazzard and trade down in midfield but not plenty of options.

      Could go dzeco over ade but its more short term and man c face a hard start and could well be few points, not great in com shield either.

      Happy with my GK and there rotation and with the defence more or less aswell If manquillo should start.

      Any thoughts ideas for swaps would be greatly appriciated.

      Bego got MCI GW3 and Gilks isn't going to play, so that's risky.
      Other than that, your defense is good, although I might look at downgrading Debuchy to improve Wisdom/Bruce or Gilks to Krul. Midfield looks very nice as well, but this set-up means you will have to play Bojan every week.. You wanna do that?

        I might jsut take the hit GW3 with begovich.

        What do oyu think of this:

        - downgrading debuchy to a 4.5
        -Downgrading bojan to naismith
        - upgrading marney to puncheon

        then play most games 3-5-2 (i think naismith will get the odd goal coming off the bench)

    Ok guys, a final decision I have to make.
    My team as it stands now:

    Bego (Krul)
    Cahill Evans Chambers (Ward Duff)
    Mata Ramsey Eriksen Siggy (Marney)
    Roopig (c) Costa Pellè

    Chambers planned to go out for Collocini as soon as Per is back.
    Only thing I still worry about is Pellè. Might want to upgrade him to Jovetic.
    To find that 0.5m I can:

    A) Cahill >> Luis
    B) Bego Krul Evans >> DDG Myhill Caulker

    Or I can just stick with it. Thoughts?

        Alright, I was thinking Guzan/Krul because Guzan is a pretty good shot stopper even with a bad defense. I have Hazard in my midfield
