I made a similar change in my defense today in response to the Evans news (dropped him, switched from Bego to DDG). Also dropped Sterling for Eriksson, although nervous about that one.
I just don't get Lovren as your big ticket defender right now, tbh. Leaky last season, changes look promising, but not great fixtures in weeks 2/3 - isn't it better to wait?Open Controls-

Lovren long term is someone i dont mind downgrading to a 4.5 to make eriksson into Silva or spending .5 on to make into Luis if he nails the spot.Open Controls

1's squad isn't deep enough for the players he's picked. Loads of injury prone players there but if they stay fit he'll win
2 is very nice
3 is full of players who are very inconsistent and it's probably the worst of the bunch.
4 is my favourite and I think this team will win

Many people use the word punt but obviously some gambles are bigger than others. What would you class is the minimum risk required to be classed as a punt?

i'd classify a punt has someone who flopped last season (lamela, soldado, sigurdsson, jovetic, etc..) or as someone who is new to the league and is yet to prove themselves in the prem (sanchez, costa, bojan, pelle, gomis). although we know the likes of sanchez and costa are quality players, i would personally still classify them as a punt until they can return a stream of consistent scores. also, all promoted players are punts.

I think that players in teams facing new systems with new managers could be classed as punts and there is also a risk associated with swapping teams within the premier league.

in some regards i agree with you. but a player like baines has proven himself against every other team in the league, plus the fact he's on set pieces means he i not a punt. great choice in my opinion, an early goal and his price rises even more, meaning he's even harder to bring in.

I have been looking at budget strikers and in the end i've decided on Fletcher because he's a proven quantity that does well when healthy and its an easy swap if someone else in that price range starts firing. And as an added plus, Sunderland actually have some decent fixtures to start the season

I figure Kolarov will play more minutes this year than last especially at the beginning when players are still recovering from the WC and after looking in depth at his attacking statistics they are mind boggling and he could produce a great sum of points with such huge attacking potential in a side with a solid defense.

I really don't know which one to get because Walker is injured. Vert is "unfit"/might leave any day. Davies and Rose are fighting for berths. Same for Kaboul/Chiriches. I definitely want one and I have Vert in my team right now.Open Controls-
