Newbie here looking for some help, keep changing team. Is Y.Toure essential?

      Howard

      Cahill - Ward - Vlaar

      Hazard - Toure - Ramsey - McCarthy

      Bojan - Sturridge - Giroud

      Bench: Wanyama, Wisdom, Moore

    Defensive Query gents:

    A) de Gea + Dawson

    B) Begovic + Jones

I'm inclined to think that Dawson is nailed on as he's played the most minutes of any centre back in preseason, albeit Vertonghen not having played at all. But he's more likely to oust Kaboul than Captain Dawson isnt he.

Anyone else struggle with wanting to start with the more expensive player instead of "sure thing".

Ramsey vs. Sanchez is a great example for me.

I feel like if I start with Sanchez and he explodes early, great. If he doesn't and Ramsey does, it's an easy quick move to Ramsey or whoever else.

On the other hand, if you start with Ramsey and Sanchez takes off, finding the $1.5 mil to get to him can get tricky very quick.

Interesting Pep. That's not a double up that was even on my radar.

        Rooney/Mata and/or 2 of Costa/Hazard/Fabregas

But once you start doubling up you're basically conceding some or all of City, Pool, Spurs, etc. coverage, which may or may not be a good thing.

Sanchez is potentially great captain material (double figure hauls). If he does start strong and take off, then it's not really weakening.

And as mentioned above it's an easy swap if he flops

The point I was making is that it's not as simple as ''oh I can downgrade him easy if he flops'' and you shouldn't pick Sanchez because you can downgrade him easily because the rest of your squad is weaker when you have Sanchez.

If you think he's gonna do great then pick him, I'm not saying don't do it just don't pick him because you can easily downgrade him

I reckon Giroud id is a bargain. Not the best player but at 8.5 he only got 10 points less than Sturridge last year for a full 3 million less. I think he has to be in my team. Getting pretty close now to a starting squad and have slightly reigned in my gambles.

I understand that Giroud offers great value points per million wise, no doubt.
Hands down, one of the best in the game last year & certainly a good buy this year too.

Although, the point I was really driving at here was, Sturridge offered us 7.5pts per game & Giroud only netted 5.2 pts per appearance.

So, Sturridge's real *value* comes to light, in the fact that he's an easy captain's choice most weeks while Giroud unfortunately is not.

That is how my front 3 starts. It looks pretty good to start.

Definitely, was gonna go Dzeko instead but i like the prospect of Giroud too much.

I always think with Dzeko he is either red hot or does little. He is a good option.

I agree, city look a bit off at the moment though, i'd even go as far as a draw or a loss for city first game 😮

    Begovic, Gilks

Terry, Jones, van Aanholt, Hutton, Moore

    Mata, Ramsey, Sterling, Eriksen, Isgrove

    Rooney, Costa, Diouf

Still a solid squad to start the season? (Sorry for all the "s" words)

Hey Fuzzy....glad you brought back the cat.

Not so sure about Bego.....Not sure why everyone is struggling to get a STO defending asset.
Erik>Siggy would fund Sterling > Yaya. *or close to it.
You put me on Diouf...im going to ride with him and thank you for it later

Sorry for the delayed reply CF, Im a mess atm.

I like Stokes first 10 fixtures enough to ride Bego for the first 1/4 of the season.

Not having Yaya last year killed me and I still cant rationalize the price even though he is obviously a heavy hitter. I guess City's fixtures give me an excuse to try and risk not having him.

The Anfield cat is alive and well. 🙂

Just remembered I had Sagna for a large part of last season, and he was fantastic for me. Makes me want to own Debuchy

Me too but think I'll wait until gw8ish. Probably wildcard around there. Debuchy will be brilliant this season

Not sure but doesn't mean anything really. He'll get good attacking returns over the season and now he'll get clean sheets to boot

I used to rate him very highly. But he seemed to regress a lot when he joined Newcastle and he just had a poor world cup. Plus, he's always been a yellow magnet and a bit brainless, liable to lunge in and get sent off.

Would also add he's not as good at defending as Sagna. If you could combine the 2 players' strengths you'd probably have best right back in the world.

He had a cracking season last year. Think he was just adjusting to the premier league the season before. I don't think he was that bad in the wc. Certainly gets some stupid red cards though
