This evening’s Members article takes a look over the action in Sunday’s Community Shield showdown between Arsenal and City. Having assessed Alexis Sanchez’ display our lunchtime Technical Area post, we delve into the data to discover for any hints of form ahead of the weekend Gameweek 1 deadline.
Ramsey then Sterling then Cazorla
Open Controls
Sanchez + Barkley?
or
Ramsey + Sterling?
reasons?
thanks in advance!Open ControlsThe latter, better players and sanchez needs to settle. They hype for barkley is unjustified
Open Controls
Ben Davies is nailed on, by the way. I don't understand why people are selling him so fast.
Open ControlsNewbie here looking for some help, keep changing team. Is Y.Toure essential?
Howard
Cahill - Ward - Vlaar
Hazard - Toure - Ramsey - McCarthy
Bojan - Sturridge - Giroud
Bench: Wanyama, Wisdom, Moore
1 million in bank.Open Controlsno, but most will say Rooney is essential. I'd try to rework to do Giroud>Rooney
Open Controls
He isnt. How do you know that?
They've shared every game in preseason between them - Rose and Davies.Open ControlsWell, a manager has to test all the players in pre-season, that's normal, but he's 98% nailed on.
Open Controls
Don't tell me this. Now I have to change my defence around again
Open Controls
Would you be ok with starting either Clyne (liv) or Siggy (mun) for GW1 with DDG in goal? Or would you stick Bego in goal and start Phil Jones over Siggy?
Open ControlsFerdinand or NTaylor?
Open ControlsNaylor

Defensive Query gents:
A) de Gea + Dawson
B) Begovic + Jones
I'm inclined to think that Dawson is nailed on as he's played the most minutes of any centre back in preseason, albeit Vertonghen not having played at all. But he's more likely to oust Kaboul than Captain Dawson isnt he.Open ControlsIf you had to ditch one of these 5.0 defenders, who would it be?
Ward or DaviesOpen ControlsMorning Gents!
Would appreciate your input.
Krul Mannone
Lovren Cahill Cameron Wisdom Bruce
Ramsey Yaya Barkley Sterling El Ahmadi
Rooney Costa Bojan
Thanks!!Open Controlsnot fond of Bojan punt
Open ControlsYou've got some nice big guns in there but it's the supporting cast I'm not keen on. Not sure how many of those defenders start...and Foster would be a better rotating partner for Krul.
Open ControlsMannone under pressure from Panit
Open Controls
Just a quick one guys....
Pick one:
A) Terry
B) CahillOpen ControlsBoom nailed it! (for now)
Kurl/Foster
Cahill/Ward/BillyJones/Moore/Wisdom
Yaya/Ramsey/Mata/Siggy/Wanayama
Roo/Costa/Diouf
What do you think DZ
Yaya Downgrade in GW4 in time for Liverpool Fixtures to lighten and possibly fund Alexis in GW5Open ControlsSo Kelly at palace, even if he doesn't start GW1 he will likely get settled in after a couple GWs and be a regular starter yes?
Open ControlsMaybe stay away from CPL defender until the situation becomes clear. Either him or Mariappa will become nailed eventually. Priced @4.5 you can always downgrade to get them.
Open Controls
Hmmm. This article makes a good case for Jovetic over Dzeko.
Which of the two do you think makes way once Kun is back?Open ControlsDzeko all day long.....Jov will become a 20 min sub so he does not use up Kun. When he does, Yaya will be there to mop on the late "garbage" goals
Open Controls
Someone tell me the story on Bojan. A forward but playing on the wing so seems like a reverse OOP. Cleary has talent.
Can he be an every week or starter or have to pair up with a similarly priced midfielder to rotate with?Open ControlsHe will come off the wing and feed Diouf 😉
Open Controls
My first day as a woman and I'm getting hot flashes
Open ControlsA) Eriksen/Lamela, Luis, Cahill
B) Sterling, Jones, CahillOpen ControlsAnyone else struggle with wanting to start with the more expensive player instead of "sure thing".
Ramsey vs. Sanchez is a great example for me.
I feel like if I start with Sanchez and he explodes early, great. If he doesn't and Ramsey does, it's an easy quick move to Ramsey or whoever else.
On the other hand, if you start with Ramsey and Sanchez takes off, finding the $1.5 mil to get to him can get tricky very quick.Open ControlsThat's why I have both 🙂
Open ControlsInteresting Pep. That's not a double up that was even on my radar.
Rooney/Mata and/or 2 of Costa/Hazard/Fabregas
But once you start doubling up you're basically conceding some or all of City, Pool, Spurs, etc. coverage, which may or may not be a good thing.Open Controls
Yeah but the rest of your team is weakened by using 1.5m on Sanchez
Open ControlsSanchez is potentially great captain material (double figure hauls). If he does start strong and take off, then it's not really weakening.
And as mentioned above it's an easy swap if he flopsOpen ControlsThe point I was making is that it's not as simple as ''oh I can downgrade him easy if he flops'' and you shouldn't pick Sanchez because you can downgrade him easily because the rest of your squad is weaker when you have Sanchez.
If you think he's gonna do great then pick him, I'm not saying don't do it just don't pick him because you can easily downgrade himOpen Controls
What's the reason Debuchy is so much higher owned than Gibbs? Same price, and Gibbs is nailed, no?
Open ControlsI feel guilty for not having Everton players.
Open ControlsA) Diouf - Rooney - Costa
B) Adebayor - Rooney - Giroud/DzekoOpen ControlsA
Open Controls
Repost from the bottom of the page
A) Eriksen/Lamela, Luis, Cahill
B) Sterling, Jones, CahillOpen ControlsNot much between them tbh
Open ControlsI know but from an FPL perspective that small difference could mean a huge gap in points so I want to get it right
Open Controls
B
Open ControlsI am intrigued by lamela, so prefer him just slightly over sterling. But luis is an expensive bench guy if he doesn't play.
Open ControlsBut at the end of the day Luis is still a world class LB who has just been bought for a large sum of money
Open Controls
Ok, team's all set & seeing as players never get injured, rested, or rotated I'm good to go!
Guess, I'll see you'all come GW20 for some Wild Card talk...Open ControlsI reckon Giroud id is a bargain. Not the best player but at 8.5 he only got 10 points less than Sturridge last year for a full 3 million less. I think he has to be in my team. Getting pretty close now to a starting squad and have slightly reigned in my gambles.
Open ControlsThink you're missing a *key* point here though...
How many games did it take Giroud to get those 10pts less than Sturridge?Open ControlsOK thsat comparison isn't great. Still great value for the money.
Open ControlsI understand that Giroud offers great value points per million wise, no doubt.
Hands down, one of the best in the game last year & certainly a good buy this year too.
Although, the point I was really driving at here was, Sturridge offered us 7.5pts per game & Giroud only netted 5.2 pts per appearance.
So, Sturridge's real *value* comes to light, in the fact that he's an easy captain's choice most weeks while Giroud unfortunately is not.Open Controls
I've opted for him beside Rooney and Costa. There was talk of him not being nailed on here before, i know it's banter, but for assurances sake, do you think he's a guarenteed starter?
Open ControlsCool, i'm confident in having him to start, plus my team is all sorted now thank god, no more tinkering! Feels like i've ended a month long shift with no breaks haha!
Open ControlsThat is how my front 3 starts. It looks pretty good to start.
Open ControlsDefinitely, was gonna go Dzeko instead but i like the prospect of Giroud too much.
Open Controls
🙂
Open Controls
Begovic, Gilks
Terry, Jones, van Aanholt, Hutton, Moore
Mata, Ramsey, Sterling, Eriksen, Isgrove
Rooney, Costa, Diouf
Still a solid squad to start the season? (Sorry for all the "s" words)Open ControlsHey Fuzzy....glad you brought back the cat.
Not so sure about Bego.....Not sure why everyone is struggling to get a STO defending asset.
Erik>Siggy would fund Sterling > Yaya. *or close to it.
You put me on Diouf...im going to ride with him and thank you for it laterOpen ControlsSorry for the delayed reply CF, Im a mess atm.
I like Stokes first 10 fixtures enough to ride Bego for the first 1/4 of the season.
Not having Yaya last year killed me and I still cant rationalize the price even though he is obviously a heavy hitter. I guess City's fixtures give me an excuse to try and risk not having him.
The Anfield cat is alive and well. 🙂Open Controls
Just remembered I had Sagna for a large part of last season, and he was fantastic for me. Makes me want to own Debuchy
Open ControlsMe too but think I'll wait until gw8ish. Probably wildcard around there. Debuchy will be brilliant this season
Open ControlsOne of the best attacking fullbacks in the world too
Open ControlsI used to rate him very highly. But he seemed to regress a lot when he joined Newcastle and he just had a poor world cup. Plus, he's always been a yellow magnet and a bit brainless, liable to lunge in and get sent off.
Open ControlsWould also add he's not as good at defending as Sagna. If you could combine the 2 players' strengths you'd probably have best right back in the world.
Open ControlsIndeed
Open Controls
He had a cracking season last year. Think he was just adjusting to the premier league the season before. I don't think he was that bad in the wc. Certainly gets some stupid red cards though
