This evening’s Members article takes a look over the action in Sunday’s Community Shield showdown between Arsenal and City. Having assessed Alexis Sanchez’ display our lunchtime Technical Area post, we delve into the data to discover for any hints of form ahead of the weekend Gameweek 1 deadline.
@ Pepin.....how is the squad coming ?
Open ControlsReally struggling to find a half decent cheap (4.5 / 5m) midfielder
Thinking Westwood for Villa or maybe Taylor-Fletcher
Any better options out there?Open ControlsI got on a West Brom forum today, and everyone seems to think Wisdom has a spot. They seem to think he's first choice over Gamboa with 4 at the back, and will get the RCB spot with 3 at the back, with Gamboa at RWB. He has the height for that spot. Is there any credibility to this?
Open ControlsLiverpool don't loan out young talent to sit on the bench
Open ControlsIt's not up to liverpool it's up to Irvine and it's up to Wisdom to work his ass off. He is easily good enough to start every week imo
Open ControlsOf course but my point if Wisdom wouldn't be there to begin with unless he gets given good game time
Open Controls
I expect Wisdom to be first choice rb over Gamboa and Baird. He's certainly good enough to keep them out. He'll start gw1 as a cb if Mcauley and Lescott are out
Open Controls
Dzeko is currently the biggest ? in my front 7 then.
Which of these looks best?
A) Terry, Albrighton & Dzeko
B) 4.5, Sanchez & SanogoOpen ControlsMy punts in my starting XI will be Cabella and Sessegnon. Seems to have a very low ownership. Just have a feeling Siggy will do less for the money. Never go back is what they say after all and Sess' fixtures are pretty decent at the start.. Cabella well what the hell he has done pretty well preseason and I had earmarked that spot for De Jong, but you don't start with a potential injury do you?
Open Controlslike the capella punt
Open Controls
Couple questions:
Where is Steven Davis usually deployed? How secure are his starts?
Do any of the spurs defenders look close to a reliable pick?Open ControlsI think he's a holding mid and pretty secure
Vertonghen is the best by milesOpen ControlsWanyama, Davis and Schneiderlin/JWP in cm. Wanyama most defensive
Open Controls
He's in a midfield three and they look to him to go forward and create for them. Quite secure
Open Controls
If Martin Kelly moves to Palace - 4.5 Palace defender & probes be more nailed on than Mariappa. thoughts?
Open ControlsDebuchy
2) HazardOpen Controls
429-5287
"So you think you are smarter than a casual"
Grab your spots before deadline. No entrys after that!Open ControlsI'm in! 🙂
Open Controls
Mourinho has confirmed that Drogba will be out for 1 week.
Open ControlsHe's no more than an impact sub & will be inconsequential fantasy wise until CL really gets underway...
Open Controls
A, B or C...
Yaya Hazard Rambo Siggy JWP
Studge Roonpig Diouf
Or
Yaya Rambo Siggy Arnautovic JWP
Studge Roonpig Costa
Or
Mata Rambo Lamela Siggy JWP
Studge Roonpig Costa
B costs 0.5 more than the other two. Any advice appreciated.Open ControlsAll this will depend upon the uber defense choices at tge back.
Open Controls
Any opinions on how this could be improved?
Krul Mannone
Lovren Chester Debuchy Ward Wisdom
Mata Fabregas Eriksen Ramsey (Isgrove / other 4.5)
Jovetic Bony Rooney
As you can see for the forward pack I've decided to go with two moderately priced players instead of Sturridge + cheap. Jovetic obviously a punt, but I think a worthy one atm.Open ControlsGiroud another option instead of Bony as well
Open ControlsNot too many people like Lovren based on fixtures and Liverpools defensive difficulties last year. However, if you don't have the extra cash for a Chelsea defender and don't want a ManU one, Lovren is not a bad choice. I think the mids are solid choices and your picks up front could work out for you--or can at least become Dzeko, Giroud, Adebayor, Soldado or any of the other options if they hit form.
Open Controls
yeah
Open Controls
Is QPR defence worth looking at, as in are they solid
Open ControlsThoughts on a Hendo+ Sterling double up for the opening weeks? Hendo can become Siggy later.
Open ControlsWhy have Henderson early when Swans have such a better opening sched?
It should be the other way around...Open Controls
A
Open Controls
A) Hazard and Austin
or
B) Soldado/Jovetic and Lamela/Eriksen?Open ControlsJovetic with B
Open Controls
Pretty sure he's been told to find a new club
Open ControlsHe's not even first choice. Valencia and Young both seem more likely to get the spot at this point. Isn't he still injured as well?
Open ControlsNot nailed - been injured, Young currently starting ahead of Shaw at LWB and will most likely start there GW1 if LVG continues being LVG
Open Controls
Would it be stupid to start the season with Kelly to save myself a transfer in a couple weeks time
Open ControlsProblem is we still won't know who's nailed on and could use a transfer anyway. But I'm liking Kelly's chances
Open ControlsAgreed. My only other thought is Chambers or Blackett to start and hope it sorts itself out by the time their run in the team is over. Seems silly to spend 5m on Ward to start knowing I'll be selling him quick like.
Open Controls
How many punts do you have in your team?
Me 3 - Jovetic & Costa & Young
Punt may de defined as players who have never played in the PL or are not assured of getting a start every weekOpen ControlsJust one. Bojan.
Open ControlsI have recommended Bojan to a friend who wants a cheap 3rd fwd, hope my advice is sound?
Open Controls
Kolarov, Costa and Fletcher, Siggy and Cahill (not sure if the last two count as punts)
Open ControlsI think the last two don't qualify, nor Fletcher tbh. A bit Koralov to brighten your day!!!
Open ControlsThat's the plan and surely Kolarov at the price counts for at least two punts by himself
Open Controls
Costa, Fabregas, and Lamela, although Lamela and Fabregas don't technically count under your definition.
Open ControlsLamela is a punt, cause he really didn't do much last year (same as Jovetic)
Open Controls
Agreed, Sanchez (like Costa) is a punt until they play and produce in the League imo
Open Controls
My entire defence is one big punt.
Open ControlsSanogo
Open Controlscare to share said punt defence?
Open Controls
Thoughts on a Hendo+ Sterling double up for the opening weeks? Hendo can become Siggy later
Open ControlsNothing wrong with it

Repost
A, B or C...
B costs 0.5 more than the others. Have it to spend though. Any advice appreciated.
Yaya Hazard Rambo Siggy JWP
Studge Roonpig Diouf
Or
Yaya Rambo Siggy Arnautovic JWP
Studge Roonpig Costa
Or
Mata Rambo Lamela Siggy JWP
Studge Roonpig CostaOpen ControlsA) its different and has more big hitters in the mids
Open ControlsI like A or C.
Using a spreadsheet of player "value", C is better than A...though I can't claim my "values" are guarenteed.Open ControlsAye, C does seem more well rounded for the money. But if my Diouf punt pays off A could be good value as well. It is tough paying 2m more for Yaya while leaving Mata out. But then it's much easier to downgrade than upgrade so.
Thanks for the input.Open Controls
Please kindly rate my team. 😀

afternoon dz'ers 🙂
query for you..
do i go with henderson + costa or sterling + dzeko.
also with southampton's decent run of early fixtures, is anyone going with the likes of clyne, who can get clean sheets, bonus points and assists..or is the overhaul at the saints putting you off them completely.Open ControlsHenderson and Costa

Hi DZ, know there is a RMT thread but slow this time of day. Excuse this here!
Would love some input on this, got feedback on team A yesterday and opinions were generally that defense was too weak.
was A
-----------------Bego/ Elliot---------------
Evans/ Chambers/ Chester/ NTaylor/ Wisdom
----Sterling/ Hazard/ Mata/ Ramsey/ 4.5------
----------Rooney/ Costa/ Austin-------------
Now B
-----------------DDG/ Elliot---------------
LOVREN/ Chambers/ HUTTON/ NTaylor/ Wisdom
----ERIKSSON/ Hazard/ Mata/ Ramsey/ 4.5------
----------Rooney/ Costa/ Austin-------------
Leaves .5 so
-Chambers can become Marriapa/Liverpool player who is transferring to CP if he starts and a 4.0 to a 4.5 (Stoke?) who nails a spot.
So A or B? Or any other comments?
ThanksOpen ControlsB I think but its might close
Open ControlsThanks, im just about happy with it
Open Controls
B for me.
Open ControlsThanks tm, that .5 and time to watch CP and stoke sway it for me it think. I could start Sterling first game with planned transfer to Erikson GW but dont like doing tht
Open Controls
Cheers Muppet. I guess the one is Bojan?
Open Controls
I made a similar change in my defense today in response to the Evans news (dropped him, switched from Bego to DDG). Also dropped Sterling for Eriksson, although nervous about that one.
I just don't get Lovren as your big ticket defender right now, tbh. Leaky last season, changes look promising, but not great fixtures in weeks 2/3 - isn't it better to wait?Open ControlsThanks for input. Lovren is worrying me but easy first fixture and goal threat. So little value in the 5.0m defenders and the 5.5 outside Man U.
Lovren long term is someone i dont mind downgrading to a 4.5 to make eriksson into Silva or spending .5 on to make into Luis if he nails the spot.Open Controls
Jutkiewicz or Bojan? 😛
Open ControlsSzczesny (Gilks)
Debuchy Clichy Jones (Wisdom Bruce)
Fabregas Mata Ramsey Mutch (Wanyama)
Costa Rooney Jovetic
Thoughts?
Clichy nailed? Evans inj so Jones is good option?Open ControlsClichy is a rotation risk so wouldn't bother.
Open ControlsKolarov should start GW1
Open ControlsKolarov rotation risk as well. Looking for 5.5 def who is good and nailed. But who? 🙂
Open Controls
Jovetic or Dzeko chaps?
