The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

A Chelsea defender is a must for Evs, should he downgrade Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen and get a 6m Chelsea defender or downgrade Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez to his team mate Aaron Ramsey to give himself 6.5m to spend.

Recently Tottenham’s Ben Davies had been ousted from his team, as again uncertainty with Danny Rose continues. Which is the best route into the Tottenham defence? Stevan Jovetic is a short term punt. Who should he replace him with should he fail to cement a place in Manchester City’s starting XI?

    As a Dutchman I have watched Bojan play a lot last year for Ajax. A lot of people seem to have him in their team, but in our league he failed to make an impression. Lots of injuries, lack of strength/speed and altough he is reasonably technical he isn't a brilliant finisher. Just a warning for all you people owning him.. I can't see him score more in the BPL than in the Eredivisie..

    1st) Terry (point every 17.79 mins)
    2nd) Cahill (point every 17.85 mins)
    3rd) Ivanovic (point every 19.99 mins)
    4th) Azpi (point every 21.33 mins)

    Looking at the stats and predicted gametime, who would you choose?

      Really depends on the alternatives to be honest. Ivan and who v Fab and who?

      I prefer fab. Mainly because I think Baines is the only defender worth spending 7.0 on

      Very strong apart from Bojan. Also uneasy about Luis, what about Azpilicueta instead? Who's your 2nd keeper?

        Get the point about Bojan, but we have to take a punt on a cheapie somewhere and he seems the best option. Not convinced about Siggy/Swansea.

        Also know what u mean about Luis, but does Azpilicueta not present same uncertaintly?

          JT or Cahill is more nailed on for Che cover.
          Siggy will play in the hole, with some delicious fixtures ahead.

      Graet mid.. I would be worried with Jovetic because he will prob cost you a transfer when Aguero is fit but it could be a good punt at the same time..

    Was settled with my current team but thinking Utd fixtures are too good to go without a defender.

    Ironically their quality at the back is as bad as Burnleys, but I feel inclined to go with Jones.

    So, IF i go with Jones, who do I drop?

      It's not a question of cheap defence it's about being able to field 3 defenders each week with a good chance of CS.

      For me that's 2 nailed on and then rotting one from 3 cheapies

      Fundamentally though if there was a definitive answer to your question it wouldn't be so much fun

            Luis and Debuchy is fine if the other 3 can be rotated inline with fixtures. Rooney Costa and Jovetic is solid.

            I would't worry too much

            I've posted a few times on Bruce and at 21.7% ownership he's only going one way in value and a £3.9 defender is a right pain in the ass to get rid of. I think Wisdom at H to Sunderland may cause you fewer headaches.

        My thoughts on yours:
        * Lovren is a good player personally I'm taking a wait and see approach on LIV defence
        * I think you can do better than Vlaar for 4.5 - Van Aanholt maybe?
        * Schurrle a rotation risk but when he does play a good goal threat - up to you on whether you take the punt but he's certainly not nailed on

    Made a few changes from my RMT earlier in the week.

    Mainly due to Pulis leaving palace causing me to reshuffle my defence.

      I don't see Jovetic continuing pre-season form if Community Shield performance anything to go by. I also see the floodgates opening against Palace, now Pullis has bailed, so might wanna consider Giroud!?!

      Similar to my team, so obviously looks good to me! Not sure about Nugent (Leicester fixtures look tough) - Austin and Long might be better punts if you don't fancy Bojan. Also think you need better backup for Begovic.

          Hasn't set the world on fire since he's arrived. I'd wait it out and see how he does post-Liverpool. Naismith might also be worth a punt this weekend.
