We delve into the Gameweek 5 data this evening in our first members article of the week. Wayne Rooney’s new role for United comes under analysis, as do Burnley and Leicester’s displays up front, whilst a couple of north London-based frontmen are also placed under the microscope after their contrasting weekend performances.
C.Kouyate will be out for 6 weeks. He will probably miss 5 games and might be available for Aston Villa at home 8 nov. dg
https://twitter.com/davidgold/status/514145948428419072bad news for downing perhaps
Has the game of his life against Liverpool and misses the game against United. Sound.
Indeed. 😉
🙁
So Downing will play DM now? I was planning to get him currently on WC
Why will he be DM ?
Don't be an idiot. Poyet will come in.
What position does Poyet play, is he attack or defence minded?
More defensive than offensive.
He is a grunt with a good pass. An apprentice Noble.
Cheers both
to partner song maybe
where doosra when you need him......Here! 😀
Massive blow
Don't know why Allardyce didn't sub him off when he was struggling, you don't mess with groin injuries.
He went down, got back up, and went back down again, Allardyce should have taken him off as soon as he went down the 2nd time
by that stage weren't they out of subs?
Yes. Should have taken him off first time. Easy with hindsight of course.
Oh that's a shocker...Wham looking so good but they really are a bit threadbare in depth..
Gutting. Time for Poyet to step up perhaps. Looked very classy pre season.
who?
come on ,son of the manager-qualitteeeee
but not experienced-big sam will be very careful with him
Back in Nov earliest and then away in Jan for ACON 🙁
really sad -was looking forward to a bit of blowing bubbles
- Why bother with ManU attack?
Is United attack even necessary? The goals are likely to be spread around numerous premium priced assets.
Falcao 11m
RVP 12.4m
Rooney 10.4m
ADM 9.8m
Mata 8.8m
Herrera 7.3m
Of these 6 players I don't believe we can pinpoint a particular individual that is likely to have significantly higher goal involvement than any of the other 5. For this reason I don't believe any United player represents good value. For example at Chelsea we know Costa is going to score the bulk of the goals with the whole attack revolving around him as the lone striker. By contrast United's trifecta system with CM's bombing forward increases the competition for FPL points within the side.A very good point. I think Di Maria would be the one I'd most likely get. I have no United players in my side at the moment.
Falcao and AdM, clearly.
Well obviously RVP and Rooney won't score goals or assist anymore. Herrera is just a DM who won't do anything and Mata will stay on the bench all season and not do anything at all.
One of Rooney/RVP will be dropped. Herrera will as well if he continues to poach ala Mata instead of doing his job winning the battle in midfield, which Mata's already been dropped for so.
Blimey, I think you are a bit too sure of yourself.
I've not been wrong yet have I.
You shouldn't let anything get to your head. Without sound reasoning nobody can be right all of the time.
I'm really not. I'm just assessing where we're at and the seemingly obvious Big Lou will have to make if his balls are indeed as big as everyone says they are.
*obvious changes
Will you drop your team capt?or let fletch play? I don't see rooney being dropped
Clueless
you should have 1 i think for the next few games
For what? coverage? I think its impossible to cover Uniteds goals with so many good attackers
rooney 2 goals,2 assists in five games not bad,di maria playing well also but i get what you mean
I think its different now with the new signings having been bedded in and now starting. Rooney and RVP have diminished in importance I think. I don't believe anyone particularly stands out.
I don't have any United players, and I'm not particularly bothered by it at the moment. Falcao appeals to me but not quite yet.
See I think Kun appeals more because clearly he is the main goal scorer at Citeh. Nobody can say who the main goal scorer is at United, there are too many.
I mean Kun is my favorite player in the Prem. I love that man and will always have him as long as he's in the league and healthy, you are preaching to the choir 🙂
Yeah I'm thinking Costa, Kun and Pelle/Welbeck is the way to go. Anyone who is likely to have a high goal involvement in their team, particularly if they are high scoring teams is the better way to go.
i have 3.... must hit some points!
They will be cannibalising each others points for all Uniteds goals. Not a fan of tripling up for this very reason.
Decide to sell your only utd attacker. Then find reasoning to suit 😉
I haven't decided anything. I believe I raise a very good point however.
Totally agree with this. Its one reason why I am not jumping on the DiMaria wagon and also sold Rooney yesterday. They may become better value later in the season if injury strikes and other top teams rotate more, but at the moment its hard to go for anyone of those 3 strikers when there are players like Pelle and Welbeck nailed-on and performing well for much cheaper.
As for the midfield options, Mata is surely not an option any more due to being benched, and I doubt Herrera will have any consistent output to justify that price over someone like Tadic who will play further forward and without any risk of being benched.
I can sort of understand the clamor for ADM, but he's not a goal-scorer by trade (only 4 all of last season with RM) so I see his two strikes as anomalies personally. His number of shots and touches in the box would suggest this is a fair conclusion. If you buy him for his assist potential I think Fabregas and Ramsey are both better options with better fixtures soon, not to mention the returning Walcott.
In summary, there's too much value in the 8.5-9.0m midfield and 7.5m striker brackets to betaking risks with United players when there is still a lot of uncertainty with how they will set up going forwards.I agree with you about rooney but not di maria. I think the English league will be easier for ADM to score goals in lots of opposition teams are gung ho.
I think you make some decent arguments but sort of miss your own point. ADM is a must pick because he will start every game, unlike the front 3 IMHO, and is everything that's good about united in attack. United will score goals and ADM will be heavily involved. If you want some united exposure, he's the only player I can see any value.
And I'd love see you show me some value in the 6.5-9.0m bracket outside of Sterling. The competition to be amongst the goals at United makes them all poor value when everyone is fit. 5 of those 6 will start every week and they are all likely to be involved spreading the points amongst them.
"How do you solve a problem like DI Maria"
The moderators need lessons in writing a good headline.
I am likely to switch to ADM because he is a midfielder and not one of the precious strikers. That way its not as risky to pick him. Falcoa and RVP are horrendously overpriced. Rooney may pull through from deeper but its safer to observe for now as your point is valid.Completely agree with you.
I think they are a weaker version of last seasons City but with more expensive players.Di Maria will be involved in most goals imo. I think RVP/Falcoa will be the highest goal scorers.
There, that's half the options gone 🙂Any quantitative analysis of this idea? I think it's potentially interesting, but without any numbers it's a pretty big claim without any evidence at all...
Falcao, ADM, Herrera are new signings who have made an immediate impact and have featured on the score sheet. RVP, Rooney and Mata were the main goal scorers last year. Therefore we now have twice as many players who are capable of scoring goals and getting assists. Based on the few games where all 6 have been involved 'quantitative analysis' is obviously limited. I'm using another form of analysis, that of observation.
Risers: Welbeck Pelle Schneiderlin Naylor Wisdom
Fallers: Naismith Mata Lennon Hoilett Upson Wilkinson Odemwingie Tremmel Vlaar Anita Lowton J Williams Aluko Boyata Berahino Besic GamboaNaismith 🙁
🙁 Pelle and Welbeck rise and Naismith drops...
🙁 🙁
Welbeck was miles off according to fiso
good to see Naismith nd Mata go downOh wow that was more than I expected. Absolutely chuffed that I have 3 of the risers! TV up to 102.9 now 🙂
Pleased to get rid of Naismith in time too. And also - love how there is now a 0.7 difference between Fabregas and Mata. I for one saw that happening when I did Mata>Fab in GW2 🙂
Btw, if this proves anything its that you shouldn't pay attention to my pre-price-change predictions!Btw everyone - I did my transfers at 2:35 and I've just realised I got hit with the price fallers, gutted hah. Just in case anybody is waiting for 2:40-45 ish as a deadline in future
ouch man. i've been close a couple of times but done them at 2:15 or 2:20ish. Good to know!
It's 2.45
Not sure if that's a running joke or something in here, but it wasn't 2:45 tonight 😀
have my +1 for being more thorough (though no one cares about the other fallers 😛 )
very true! 🙂
Pelle and Welbz just as I said 😎
You should start a website that advises as to risers and fallers:
totalmuppet.com😀
at least I can still do Moreno + Naismith to Moore + Welbeck but now it costs me 0.2m more haha
- Dead team challenge
::::: Dead Team Challenge - GW5 Leaderboard Updated :::::
Before I begin, just to let you know that a mistake was made last week which has since been corrected, so apologies to The Casual for that...
Also we've added a green & red (& the ever elusive grey) arrow feature to allow people to track their weekly progress up and down the leaderboard table... and there is also a new 'week by week ranking' tab as well...
So...
Congratulations to our current leader, Hymie who is on an impressive 310pts, which equates to an amazing Overall Rank of 4.6k...
Highest scorers in the GW were GreenWindMill & RonMadPirlo, both with a cool 60pts (honourable mention to PorkPieSausageRoll on 59pts)... which would have given them a weekly rank of about 77k...
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1raAyvT8NYalwe4_-1EqJZBOOcbwjmixKpFu18ySKGVQ/edit#gid=1705963376
You can also click on the 'teams' tab and scroll through to check your team individually... the teams are listed alphabetically so that should make it easier to navigate...
Thanks...Zep youre such a post counter

Looks like a great effort on your part, wish i was involved!
Next year mate...
Awesome stuff Zep. Looking forward to later in the season when my Hazard (C) starts to come off for me.
brilliant effort Zep! 🙂

Thanks Zep for coordinating this!
Hope to stay within the top 50 😀Cheers Zep (and Billy), great work once again.
I am wondering how my team looks. I forgot which players I picked xD
Ah..found it 🙂 Poor Giroud 🙁
Finally i have more points than my dead team... 318 vs. 297... 😀
Seeing a lot of familiar faces.. so gonna repost for the last time.
Leicester Striker situation:
When Leicester play 3 uptop Ulloa and Vardy and probably Nugent will start. Ulloa is the main target man, Nugent drops deeper and does the dirty work and Vardy offers pace on the counter. Considerin they've got 3 away games coming up expect Vardy to be their main outlet as he'll be the one getting the ball out of leicesters half and into dangerous areas on counters. When they play 2 uptop it'll be Ulloa and Vardy soon enough... Ulloa again the main target man and Vardy creating and making space for others etc just behind him. though Nugent has been working his ar$e off of late so for now it'll be him behind Ulloa. this will just mean that Vardy goes out on the wing and though he will be reverse OOP on paper will still maintain a high assist threat(and considering he's speed and workrate i'd wager he'll still have the highest avg position on the pitch). . Nugent will see the bench more often while Vardy and Ulloa are nailed on. When Nugent is on the pitch he is on penos.. when he is not Ulloa will be on them.
Last season Vardy was the most impressive player in the championship for me.. He tailed off at the end and suffered from burnout missed the last few. he did get 16 goals and double figures in assists in just 30 odd games. in preseason i'd backed him to be teh main man at leicester and the budget price of 5 seemed too good to pass up but now that his injury worry is behind him i'm getting him straight away.
in a nutshell:
IF you want a cheap 8th attacker who will be on your bench most weeks but is nailed on and has very high assist potential(and a fair goal threat too) get Vardy.
IF you want a cheap 7th attacker who you want to play every week get Ulloa(high goal threat low assist potential).. as he is a bit too expensive to be benched week in week out. though tbh as much as i love the foxes i would not wanna play an attacker every week 🙂 ..that turned out longer than expected.. 😳
say that to a girl and you're golden 😉
Good post mateGood read!
I prefer Ulloa he can score all types of goals and a threat from set pieces which Vardy dosen't have. With the same qualities as Pelle and the fact he's much cheaper I've gone with him as my 3rd striker
Is there really a need for so much in depth insight into Leicester?
Just get Ulloa. He is good value.+1
Just don't fall into the trap of having 8 good attackers and rotating them
ulloa + 4.5m milf + Cash
OR
Vardy + 7 good attackersYup.. this is it basically. Vardy prob the best sub 5.0 option around imo as a benchwarmer as he is capable of big scores. so for me he is a no brainer considerin i dont like rotating players and i want 7 good attackers
ungrateful brat!
Seeing a lot of ppl dismissing Vardy as a flash in the pan. just wanted to let you'll know he isn't.. but apologies if this bored you. i'll just stick to RMT's 🙂
Hulk plz
I'm tempted by Ulloa, whereas Vardy could have been penalised in the buildup play for a couple of the goals against ManU.
Good post, thanks! Thanks for the info! 😀
Okay, but for .8 more you can get their main man
Guess they're all forwards. And if I was getting a Leicester forward it's Ulloa
Yup.. i'm getting Vardy cause i want a cheap 8th attacker and it fits my fpl style of having a sub 5.0 player to bench. if you want Ulloa he is a grand option too.
great write-up, Leicester fan? What do you think of their defense vs weaker opposition?
8 points with those first 5 is really impressive - Hope Moore will show real value.
I thought that Leicester'd get battered at set pieces this season after watchign em last season(part of the reason they bough Upson initially).. but they have looked solid. Moore should prove to be a bargain. just dont expect miracles 🙂 .. Keep your expectations Around 8-10 CS's by the season end and you wont be disappointed 🙂 .. the stats show leicester have been lucky of late not to concede more but a lot of the shots conceded have been easily blocked and pot shots basically.
Thx for the insight!
Prior to the United game, Vardy has played less than half a game of football this season. Was he injured/not nailed?
injured mate.. thigh problem. back to full fitness now he said himself. the two runouts helped(and he looked dangerous in those too)
- Common misconceptions
Hello
I work as a data scientist, and I have noticed some common misconceptions on this site.
1. Being Due
There is no such thing. Scoring goals can be viewed as a random process, scoring a goal today doesn't make you more or less likely of scoring a goal tomorrow. What it does, is to give you a better idea of what the underlying chance is for a player to score in each game. It is possible that you suspect a player has underperformed, and that you are right about this. But that still only means that he has a higher chance of scoring in the next game than you would estimate based on his performance, not that he has a higher chance of scoring that players of similar skill level.
2. Overfitting.
Examples: "He scores well against West Ham", "He scores high in the beginning of the season only".
Nate Silver talks about this at length in his book "The Signal and the Noise". Humans have a large tendency to see more patterns that are actually there. I cannot offhand reject any of these hypotheses. But one could do an analysis of them and find out. And I'm confident that most of them wouldn't hold if this was done.
3. Coverage
Example: "I would prefer player X, but I got player Y to get coverage of team Z.
This concept doesn't make much sense, given that we are playing for total points. The point don't care much about your coverage. The one exception is captaincy. It is preferable to have your strongest players belong to different teams so that you have a good captain each week. Other than that coverage doesn't supply any advantage. It may feel like you are missing out if a big club gets a big haul and you don't have any of the players. But if you instead have a player who will get more points overall, that is better for you.Olé! 🙂
He's a scientist. This needs a Hulk and Hot topic!
Hello scientist!
Good read. #3 is nothing new, but 1 and 2 is really some food for thought. Cheers. What transfer should I do this week?
Costa out Vardy in!
Costa never scored against Villa before and he's certainly not due.
Done.
Is spread a better term than coverage?
always
wait, you're not talking about fantasy football, are you 😉 ?
Tina, read n.o 2.
I will take my chances feck you very much.

Only Doos & You can get away with theseBTW, it's gonna be nice kicking the nuts of an Indian in a Saffer team this GW.

The person who hulked this, only did it because he had no fecking idea what the post was about
🙄It's all true though.
Wrong side of bed? 😉

Oh, no. What have you done?

No chance.
He/she has never posted on here in his/her life.
Smell.
Fish.
V nice summary.
On 3, coverage id disagree slightly. If the fixtures were this and you had 6 players-
A. Chelsea vs Stoke
B. Man City vs Leicester
C. Arsenal vs Everton
In a pure snapshot of one week you want to be all over fixtures A and B. Again in isolation 3 Chelsea and 3 Man City.
In reality to have 6 players there ignores the future fixtures (say 6 weeks), meaning transfers to shift. Also if you say had Hazard, Fabregas and Costa and Chelsea won 2.0 there is a good chance one of those players will no get points. Budget wise difficult too.
In the above scenario i would like-
A. Chelsea vs Stoke- Costa, Fab, Defender
B. Man City vs Leicester- Aguero and or Silva
C. Arsenal vs Everton- Welbeck and or Ramsey/Chambers
Spreads the chance of points and more balanced moving forwardsThis is sheer bollocks, imo. 😀
Did you even read what he wrote 😀 ?
Of course. :-0
You seem to get alot of respect on here Doosra but come cross as quite a rude, ignorant and intolerant person who is incapable of disagreeing in a cordial way. A simple ' i don't agree with this' followed by some reasoning seems fitting but hey, what do i know.Good luck to you though fella
Hey, that was meant as a joke!
Apologies if I have offended you - was meant to be light hearted!Hmmm - no reply to this. Sad.
SAB?
Sorry mate, boss called.
Oh, OK. 🙂
Sorry about that - was not meant to be rude. 🙂
In the meantime, what I mean is this: Coverage never seems to work for me, for the following reasons.
Take your example, Chelsea vs Man City.
At the moment, in Citeh, ONLY Aguero as very good stats - all the rest are meh, including Silva.Aguero is both very expensive and injury prone.
Chelsea: Costa and Ivanovic are stand outs - but they are indecently so, because their stats are outstanding. Hazard is improving, and Fabregas is just middling, although he is providing solid chances. However, the Chelsea midfield seems to be cannibalising each others' points.
So, rather than have "coverage, I prefer to follow the stats, irrespective of fixtures, and look at fixtures only to fine-tune this process. OK?
Apologies once again if you are offended.Im in a bad mood in general today, apologies. Sense of humor bypass!
No worries - I will be more careful, apologies! 🙂
Dont worry, just read the bollocks part and bit. Hour and half and the beach and beers, boss can do one!
Your examples make good sense to me there.
Maybe i look at it wrong, at the moment i have no arsenal, moving Naismith to Pelle over Welbeck. This worries me as i have no Arsenal involvement ( another word for coverage i guess!)Well, no Arsenal IS a worry - not for fixtures, but for how they are playing.
Second only to Chelsea in terms of form.
This is, strangely, a GOOD week to pick up an Arsenal player, particularly Welbeck, as Walcott is due back!
ARS: TOT 243 che -243 HUL 473 sun 256 BUR 421 swa 115Walcott for me later

I agree that it can be good to be more balanced moving forward, for the reason mentioned: Captaincy.
I don't agree that it's a problem to have three offensive players in one matchup if we ignore the above argument. Yes, there is a good chance that your players don't all get points if they are playing for the same team. But there is a good chance of that if they are all playing for different teams too.
I performed some analysis on this, and found that the goals scored follow a poisson distribution overall. That is, the chance of scoring a goal is independent of how many has been scored previously in the match. Thus it doesn't lower your chances if your team mates scores goals you are not involved in.Not sure I agree with your example in your second paragraph here. Lets say every team averaged 2 goals scored per game and that we are only refering to attacking players.
Triple up
Team A: Maximum points potential is 2 goals and 2 assists divided amongst 3 players
Coverage
Team B: 1 player, maximum points potential 2 goals scored
Team C: 1 player, maximum points potential 2 goals scored
Team D: 1 player, maximum points potential 2 goals scored
Coverage can achieve 6 goals and the Triple up can only get 2 goals and 2 assists. This doesn't even account for bonus points as well where the 3 games offer 9 bonus points whereas the one game with 3 players only offers 3 bonus points. The points ceiling is much higher with coverage. Each team might average two goals a game, but they won't score exactly two goals each match. Some teams score more goals than others, and some matches are more likely to be high-scoring than others.
The occasions when it is considered advantageous to double or triple up will be those favourable fixtures when the team is expected to score rather more than the average two goals, or when the team is regularly scoring three goals every time. Team A in your example will be expected to score more than two goals in their match, and their two or three star players may well get three of four goals and assists between them. Meanwhile, the probably inferior players in the less favourable fixtures for Teams B, C and D may only get a goal and a couple of assists between them, if that. Tripling up is far superior to covering three different teams in this case.
Actually, shouldn't one of the three teams in your coverage example be Team A? This would improve your chances, but is still likely to be inferior to doubling or tripling up if Team A scores 4 or more goals.I agree that at times doubling up can be a good thing. In principal I wouldn't dare triple up because the goal average would probably need to be at least 3 goals per game for it to be worthwhile.
Nevertheless in a vacuum where all the variables are equal 'coverage' is not a myth.OK, tripling doesn't often work for very long in attack, but can be effective in defence - remember Tozey's method of choosing a goalkeeper and two defenders from each of two teams that have perfect home and away rotation, and both of which have cheap players and don't concede too many goals at home?
I think your example is more about what I would call spread (avoidance of doubling up) than about coverage (which is usually taken to mean the inclusion of at least one representative of each of the top teams).
The variables are not equal in practice. If they were, there would be no advantage in giving preference to players from the top teams, and no team would be likely to have more than one player that you would want to select anyway, and in fact there would be no such thing as top teams since all teams would be equal!
If in a particular game-week you expect Teams A, B and C to each score two goals then it would indeed be better to select the best player from Team A, the best one from Team B and the best one from Team C. However, if you expect Team A to score 4 goals and to share the goals and assists between their 3 star players, while Teams B and C only score only 1 goal each, then it would be better to select to select the 3 star players from Team A.
In the longer term, though, choosing players from different teams might provide more flexibility in the longer term, especially when the team might have a postponed match or a difficult fixture.Tldn
I hope it wasn't too long for Ryan.
Basically, I was disputing his example of Tripling Up v Coverage, because of its assumption that Tripling Up would be used for matches in which Team A was only likely to score a maximum of two goals, and that Teams B, C and D were just as good as Team A.
Firstly I want to address your point about defensive coverage. This is an entirely different beast altogether. In this instance all the defence is rewarded for getting a clean sheet so most people don't have a problem with the term in this context. You can cover a teams defence with any defender. If you double or triple up then you simply increase the risk/reward.
In terms of attack I think we are on the same page really. I agree that its right to double up on an attacking player if they are in a good team with good fixtures (value may come into this too eg Southampton/Swansea). Of course we would be assuming that they are likely to rack up the goals over that time to increase the likelihood of those two players being well involved.
I also like the term 'spread'. Thats a useful term and has some statistical weight unlike 'coverage'. In a fantasy football context I'd consider coverage to be covering a good teams attacking potential. Generally it has to be a player who has a high overall involvement in the teams goals. Costa for example has proven to be such a player, the same can be said for other big fish in small ponds eg Siggy. Thanks, Ryan. I think we are now in agreement! 🙂
Finally someone else who works with Data besides me 😀
great post mate!!-> Humans have a large tendency to see more patterns THAN are actually there.
*Humans have a large tendency to see more patterns THAN there are to be seen.
football moneyball blablabla...The gut never lies 😀
Nice post. I love it when a scientist comes on. 😀
Finally!
Isn't one of the things Nate Silver talks about that we should be constantly re-assessing our predictions - most obviously around Bayesian probabilities?
In point 1 for example, the probability of a striker scoring in their next but one match IS going to be affected by what they do in their next match. A striker who fluffs two chances, gets booed and subbed off at 59 minutes probably sees their confidence drop, their manager's confidence in them drop and the team team-mates' confidence in them drop making them less likely to score in the next game.
Whereas you would imagine Ulloa and Vardy are on top of the world right now.
That is not an argument for knee-jerking and I completely agree with you that every assessment should be made objectively and based on all the factors, not just the most recent ones, but in this case form is a factor which should be brought into the overall equation.Yes, possibly. If form is an important factor, it is a further argument against the concept of "being due".
Yes I completely agree 'being due' as a vague concept is a nonsense. If, however, the underlying stats suggest that a players is doing everything right in terms of position, touches, chances etc and then you review those chances and see that they aren't fluffing their lines but the margins are just very fine or goalkeepers are pulling off implausible saves, or they are being unselfish, then the statistics may point to future returns.
It's a good discussion though.
The Krul conundrum - strategies for getting him out.
So many of us have Krul, but no one wants to take a hit to get rid, but with so many nice options upfront to play around with, (ADM, Pelle, Aguero, Walcott) all to possibly bring in when do you take a GW to change the keeper? Perhaps it is worth a hit.
I have Krul/Foster, Foster seems like an ok bet this week, but really could do with getting in Heaton, Forster or Mannone.
What strategies are those with Krul taking......Take the hit and then slap yourself in the face when we get ourselves relegated 🙁
Keeping. If anything's to go by, most keepers end up around the same points at the end of the season. Unless on wildcard or no other attacking transfers, I would just keep.
Keeping - it'll balance out.
Keep. If I WC in GW8, he'll definitely go. If not, he'd stay longer.
When it comes to cheap goalkeepers, I'm a strong believer in just being patient. at 4.5, Krul will pick up a few clean sheets and saves. Nobody at 4.5 is likely to be prolific in terms of clean sheets, regardless of form up until now.
I also have krul and foster btw and sticking until I wildcard.I'm on a WC so out go Krul and Foster, in comes Forster and probably Heaton. 😀
I just keep looking at it week by week and deciding that an outfield player is more worth the transfer (this week did Chester > Baines).
GW10 coudl be crunch time....
Foster vs Arsenal
Krul vs LiverpoolD'oh I meant GW18
Krul vs mun
Foster vs MCI
Woo hoo a greenie.....not a hot topic though

I don't like to pigeon-hole myself 🙂
Di maria for me - He looks lethal.
and when u watch the match u always feel like he is going to do something. I don't always get that from hazard.
Having said that hazard is due a decent haul and villa don't look the same without ron-creteHarsh on Hazard. Always looks like he might do something?
Hazard & aguero are going to literally explode with points this week. I predict they'll get a combined 30+ points 🙂
Hazard this week
Get both, god damnit!
Hazard. I am.
You are a hazard?
lol. I was going to ask your opinion on this very thing given your stats. I wanted a differential so stuck in Haz over Fabs. Madness Doos or do you think it could work out? Haz to a while to find his feet last season then went nuts
What's the deal with Zaha? Not going to be a regular starter?
There's a player who plays for Ipswich called Mings. Hehehehe

cant at the mo........ but tadic is disappointing me
He's playing well if that helps....
cheers, it does
Am debating him or Pelle -- I went for Tadic two weeks ago and it has been a bummer so far.
Tough given he hasnt exploded yet at that price. I'd hold, one more week
Certainly, imo.
I have Rooney but want to get rid of him. I already have Pellè & Costa.
Suggestions?Keep him for a week more at least
Pills. Not blue ones tough.
If you've got ADM, you certainly don't need rooney. I just sold Balotelli for Ulloa to free up funds for some GW8 plans.
I'd keep him.
I would have kept him but am on WC. He can still produce in that deeper role, imo.
keep for the home game, then panic
Get rid, imo.
Kun
I'm keeping for one more week then trading him out for Kun. Plan plan plan
Ulloa or Welbeck, both likely to keep pace with Rooney. Gives extra funds for rest of the team
A bojan+mata to siggy and Ulloa for free
B mata+rooney+bojan to pelle+ADM+ulloa for -4Don't do this often but have a free transfer and unsure where to use it
Forster Krul
Moreno, Clyne, Pieters, Trippier, Schlupp
Fabregas, ADM, Sterling, Siggy, Zaha
Falcao Ulloa Pelle
Concerned about zaha and schlupps game timeDiego Costa is slightly essential
What's your rank? (I'm not being narky, just curious!)
My team is linked on my profile page....but if you must feel the need to publicise it.....around the 700k mark. Having a bit of a mare and I put it down to not having or captaining Costa enough. Amongst other things....
Hmm yeah I could have been higher if I just got costa too. Tried to be logical about it and he was yellow flagged twice...
I'd be concerned about the lack of Diego Costa...
I'm with Parm.
Up to 40k and haven't owned him yet this season.
I do believe he is fairly essential but think I can do without selection and hamstring headaches.
If teams get stuck into him like city did then he might struggle. And definitely looks a red card candidate. Obviously I appreciate he could explode but just looking at the flip sidethats my optimistic take on it too
Think how much higher you would be if you had him
Tried to be logical, he was yellow flagged twice.
Yellow flag = managers playing mind games. Only if it's a red flag should you have a cause for concern!
Is Trippier worth having. Swap for Duff
Repost from old article:
3-5-2 RMWCT
Heaton Gilks
Baines Clyne Chambers Moore Wisdom
Hazard ADM Sterling Tadic Siggy
Costa Lukaku 4.9m (would have been Jutkiewicz, could be Vardy)
I'd always envisioned two premium priced forwards in this formation but I don't love Aguero's price and am giving the MUN forwards some time to sort themselves out. Any thoughts appreciated. Not overly keen, think you need some city with the upcoming fixtures
Thanks for the reply. Have been wondering about them as well.
Anyone know why Wenger didn't play Sànchez this weekend? Rotation risk? Özil better option?
Injured in warm up?
Rested
Should start next GW then. Cheers!
When do the memberships become a tenner? I've asked the mrs for one for Christmas also can she gift me one? Cheers
Pre-season....
Sorry ment £12.50
Feb maybe
If you're a united fan are you thinking of switching to:
A) city
B) Liverpool
C) Guildford town (for easy access on match days)Are u serious? Being real fan mean u won't give up from your club even if your club is relegated to 7th league. I am not from England,I am from Serbia and City is in my heart and I won't ever stop to support them, no matter what happen.
Hear hear, Dusan, that's how it should be.
That was joke, chill 🙂
I was indeed only joking Dusan 😉 about united fans being from Surrey
But I admire your passion!
Don't be silly, else I will cut you down with my lightsaber, again.
I should have left you in Naboo
Good comeback 🙂
You must be the most bandwagon fan there is
Gotta laugh at these who think you can change football clubs
So I have two FTs, need to use at least one, would you remove either of moreno or balo?
(for whom)
Forster Mccarthy
Pieters clyne moreno (moore naylor)
Adm fabs sterling siggy 9boyd)
BALO costa pelle
2FT, 1.2You should do Balo>Welbeck just so we can have virtually identical teams. Lots of dough in the bank for Kun, defensive upgrade or a 5th mid later. I like the flexibility.
BTW, the masses have suggested starting Naylor over Moreno for GW6 (in response to my inquiries on this board).
Hi guys think I'm settled on this team for this gw
Please rate 1-10. Thanks

What a team :O All your benchers could easily start and deliver nice points
It's good. 8/10.
8.263
Looks tasty if not a little template
Absolutely dreadful. If you've still got your wildcard I would play it immediately.
Come on fella, you know it's a good team!7
Krul and terry have not been playing that wellnot Krul
I would play wisdom over Peters. the tide is turning on newcastle and wba imo
Mannone Krul
Ivan Rose Wilson Wisdom Yoshida
Fab Sterling ADM Chadli Siggy
Costa Roney Ulloa
0.2 in the bank anything desperately needed?
RMT pleasehazard or costa i mean
Costa
Falcao
costa
what to do with Naismith seems to have gone off the boil and gametime looks questionable, will he fall in price this week??
Benching in a 3-5-2.
same here
who are your mids? the famous 5? cesc siggy sterling, ramsey, adm ?
He'll still get game time, Everton just had/have lots of fixtures the past two days (Europa this past Thursday, then CP Sunday, and League Cup tomorrow). Reckon he's secure until Barkley's back. I wouldn't play him, but Roberto played a lot of bench guys this week.
when is barkley back?
Supposed to be out for at least a couple more months, last I read.
thanks, but my 5th mid is King(leicester)?? would you play him?
Over King yeah. Not saying Naismith is a bad choice (I'm an Evertonian so I'm biased anyways), just saying I don't have him in my team is all.
who do you think will score more in gw6, costa or remy?
hopin costa
Costa
Costa.....y?
Remy, think Costa may actually be rested, its going to be a hard Captain choice again
^ Don't listen to him, he bet against the Seahawks at home. 😉
😀 it very nearly paid off, would have been a great comeback
What do you think to this lot then? Worth taking a hit to improve?
Bego 4.0
Baines Moreno Moore Naylor Clyne
Fab Siggy Sterling Tadic Boyd
Pelle Costa Rooney
1m ITB.Only thing I'd ask is why have both Tadic and Pelle? Also Pool's D is in shambles right now but it might be worth giving Moreno a few more weeks after the derby this week
Looking for a cheap (>5.6) midfielder for the next few GWs to help me afford an upgrade. Which one would you pick?
A. Downing + 0.1m
B. Larsson + 0m
C. Moses + 0.1m
D. Quinn + 1m
E. Other
Thanks!Noble,Larsson or Downing 🙂
Downing out of that bunch. Diamé's also looked pretty lively for Hull.
Pelle rising tonight?
Dunno, ask his missus.
lolol
Hope so, just put him
Ask his Mrs
worth doing rambo to sterling for free?
can find a place for sterling at the mo 😕I would, don't think Ramsey will score so freely this year
Is this a good move(next week): hendo,Silva and naismith --> marney, sterling and welbeck?
If so my team will look like this:
Krul Mannone
Clyne Pieters Taylor Wisdom Vlaar
Sterling Fab Ramsey Siggy Marney
Costa Aguero Welbeck
Thoughts?
