Our Monday regular is rolled out once again, as we scour the Premier League treatment rooms to assess the players who picked up injuries over the weekend action.

Aston Villa
Gabby Agbonlahor was named in the starting XI to face City but was forced to withdraw prior to kick-off due to illness.

Burnley
Right-back Kieran Trippier is set to be assessed after he was stretchered off with an ankle injury during the 2-2 draw at Leicester – after the match, Sean Dyche was hoping the injury isn’t as bad as first feared.

Chelsea
Thibaut Courtois was subbed off midway through the first-half of yesterday’s win over Arsenal due to a head injury. The club have since confirmed the keeper has been given the all-clear after undergoing precautionary tests and is expected to turn out for Belgium over the international break.

Crystal Palace
Scott Dann is set for knee scans after being forced off just 12 minutes into the weekend loss at Hull.

Everton
Steven Pienaar lasted just 64 minutes of the weekend loss at United before being forced off with a possible recurrence of the thigh injury that had kept him on the sidelines since Gameweek 2. John Stone was stretchered off at Old Trafford, with Roberto Martinez a little worried in his initial prognosis:

“It’s a ligament problem in his ankle. We are going to assess him in the next 48 hours. It’s such a massive blow because, as you have seen today, he plays with an incredible arrogance and great maturity. It’s not for me to say yet [whether he will be fit for England] because we need to get the medical department to assess him. But for him to come off, then I don’t expect John to be fully fit for next week.”

Hull
Ahmed Elmohamady was subbed off in the dying minutes of the weekend win over Palace due to injury.

Leicester City
Esteban Cambiasso missed out with a recurrence of a knock picked up at Palace last week. The Argentine had previously been passed fit by Nigel Pearson but was unable to make the squad for the 2-2 draw with Burnley.

Man City
Fernandinho will be assessed after picking up a hamstring problem during the weekend win at Villa, Manuel Pellegrini confirmed post-match.

Man United
Luke Shaw was withdrawn midway through the second half of United’s win over Everton yesterday but after the match, the left-back revealed he expects to turn out for the upcoming internationals:

“It’s not a bad injury, it’s a dead leg on my knee. I felt it in the first 20 minutes when I got caught but it carried on during the game so I thought it was probably best to come off before it gets any worse. I spoke with the doctor and obviously the manager as well and both feel it’s best that I do go [with the England Under-21s] as it’s not an injury that is going to keep me out. Hopefully, I should be training in the next couple of days and can get another two games of 90 minutes each.”

Post-match, it was also revealed that Paddy McNair had suffered a hamstring injury in the 2-1 victory. The young defender was forced to withdraw from the Northern Ireland squad for their forthcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers with reports claiming that he could be sidelined for three weeks.

Newcastle
Magpies right-back Daryl Janmaat has puled out of international duties for Holland after picking up a hamstring problem during the weekend draw at Swansea.

Stoke City
After overcoming a thigh problem for the trip to Sunderland, Victor Moses was subbed off with a recurrence of the problem, with Mark Hughes explaining:

“Victor came off against Newcastle on Monday and we had him scanned. Nothing showed up and we were hoping that it was just a neural thing but he felt it almost immediately and had to come off. We lacked his drive and the purpose that he’s given us in recent games and although him going off disrupted us, it’s not an excuse as we should have been able to compensate for that.”

Sunderland
Emanuele Giaccherini and Ricardo Alvarez missed the 3-1 win over Stoke through injury and post-match, Gus Poyet admitted the duo, along with Seb Coates, “are going to be out for a while”.

Tottenham
Kyle Naughton was an early casualty in yesterday’s win over Southampton – the right-back was subbed off midway through the first period after sustaining an ankle injury as a result of a challenge from Ryan Bertrand.

    Early Bird Cup Update:

    THE FINAL:

Massive, Massive congratulations to Dušan Citizen, who has won the Early Bird Cup, defeating DT42 in the final by a score of 67 - 59.

32 people entered, now Dušan Citizen can claim that he is the most shrewd of them all. His rank of 37,709 is by no means the best of everyone that entered the tournament, but a bit of luck and some great transfers (namely getting in Di Maria this week) have ensured victory.

Please join me in congratulating the man for a job well done!

Hopefully in the near future I will be running another cup tournament, perhaps after the international break, so keep your eyes peeled for any announcements. Thanks to everyone that took part, it was a great comp!

      Congrats DC, well deserved
And a big thanks for AZ for organising this

We had pretty similar teams this week and it all came down to Welbeck vs. Ivo + Naismith. A Welbeck goal would have made it close!

I think Dusan should be rewarded with the Scout Picks next week

What is your jammiest slice of luck ever in FPL, preferably with an outrageously unpopular player!

Remember that Boxing day when Fergie "rested" Wazza because he had a few sherry's with Colleen on Christmas night?

He was my captain. My VC was Jonathon Walters. 1 goal, 1 assist, 1 CS and 3 BPs.

I transferred Suarez out last season just before he scored 4 against Norwich.

      I love that RCA.

In my first season I planned during gw13 to get in Adebayor, who was playing well for Man City (I believe) at the time under Sparky.

Ade got sent off in gw12, and no other forward looked appealing.

I took a punt on Defoe for spurs v Wigan, and I even made him captain.

Result. 5 goals into that one game 🙂

I sold him the following week for Darren Bent 😉

      2 spring to mind

City DGW, Aguero (c) didn't play

Demspey (vc) with 15 which got doubled

      GW1 2 years ago

Mich on the bench gets 15 points. Marveaux doesn't play. Hello Michu

I remember the two of us danced a jig with that Dempsey VC.

Aguero, Silva and Richards (i think) all rested that day? Don't think it was DGW though.

I'm sure it was, I may be wrong though

The Michu one is still my all time favourite piece of jaminess ever if you know the full story

I benched him as i had a QPR defender (apparently I never learn) so I benched Michu and played Marveaux. Marveaux, upon being told he wasn't starting, left the ground, and so couldn't be named on the bench. Obertan took his place. Obertan then made a 2 minute cameo that was intended for Marveaux

          Uber Jammy

Not jammy. But captaining Ozil vs Norwich (I think) for a hatrick I believe last year & captaining Walcott vs Reading when he scored 3/4 & got an assist or two

Joey O'Brien, season before last I think just after Xmas, bought him for the classic goal, clean sheet, injury sub before West Ham conceded. Classic 15 pts.

      Joey O' Brien

Only transferred him in because Cameron fell off the suspension tightrope. The next GW he scored then got subbed post 60 mins with CS intact only for West Ham to concede shortly after. He picked up 15 points while my rival had double West Ham defence that got nothing.

Dempsey was another one I was jammy with, twice in quick succession.

First, I had bought Kompany in the day before an FA Cup game against Man Utd as he was supposed to go up in price. For some reason there were no price changes that night (I guess FPL was undergoing some maintenance) so he didn't rise. To make matters much worse, he then got sent off the following day in the cup game 😆

This was during January and tipped me over the edge to using my WC earlier than I planned to. Anyway, because of this I got Dempsey a couple of weeks earlier than planned, just in time for his hat trick.

A few weeks later he was my brace scoring vice captain when Aguero(c) was rested.

seems like a few us picked up that Dempsey vc jam doughnut

I miss Clint, that 3 game rule may be the most reliable thing I've ever seen in FPL. I remeber my rival that year selling him late on after 2 blanks, and I obviously kept. He was in tears 😆

Surely some others with this one… Think it was Boxing Day in the 2012-13 season, Rooney captain and Bale vice. Rooney doesn't play, Bale scores a hat trick away to Villa and got an assist too, I believe. Insane rank jump

If my memory serves me correctly I had Dzeko who had just been benched as my captain. Following week I forgot to change my team. I believe Dzeko nabbed 4. Oh to be a casual again 😀

It was last season when there was only 4-5 PL games in one GW. I had to start Bradley Johnson (who was my bench warmer and never scored before) and boom..he scored a goal and brought me 10 points 😀 I don't have much exp as this is my 2nd season, though 🙁

I also got Chester off the bench GW1 (few wks later a Hutton CS off the bench for Chester). Siggy and another CS stayed on the bench tho', GW1. Luck goes both ways and probably evens out - most of mine seemed bad last year, so it's nice to get the odd bench point.

too many, would be rude to pick 1. things i'd never seen are always special, e.g di canio v wimbledon (RIP to the assist assister), le tissier v newcastle quickly followed by gascoigne v scotland, bergkamp v newcastle (still have no idea what he did yet completely trust that he meant it).
would also add andy cole v barcelona as the dummy is my favourite skill in football and i think that goal with the most brilliant example

Owens goal against Argentina was pretty mesmeric, I remember one from Essen in the CL a few hears ago for chelsea that was just a rocket. Think I bought him into my fpl team after that and was a disaster.

Owens goal against city is my favourite ever goal, I just ran round the house screaming when he tucked that in. Legend.

Danny roses was quite special as well a few years ago, was getting a lot of stick for his inclusion in the squad and he rifled in one or the sweetest volleys I ever seen...

They were 2.9% out on one a day or two ago someone said. Even when FISO had it very close early in the season (before everything went wrong) there was still a little wiggle room. I think the FPL Stats team are doing pretty well if they're getting it right with a ~3% margin of error.

Agreed they are way ahead than the rest for risers.
Why are they losing accuracy? Should be going the other way if on top of it. Things change daily but they don't know at what rate.

I don't think they're going backwards. I think there's just an element of randomness in the calculations, probably as a result of wildcards. As the number of wildcards played each week diminishes and players reset after rises and falls the calculations should become more consistent I think. But if a player has been particular popular or unpopular with wildcard players it might affect their rise/drop thresholds a bit.

FPL Stats is a little conservative, FISO a bit aggressive. I would say if FISO says they will go up, you should expect they might. If FPL Stats says they will go up, they will go up.

Need some advice here, this is my current team:

    DDG
    Terry-Moore-Wisdom-Bertrand-Taylor
    Sterling-Fabregas-Siggy-Tadic-JWP
    Costa-Aguero-Welbeck

0 in the bank and 0 FT left, I am thinking about burning my WC because I think ADM will be essential moving forward and I need to make a few moves in order to fit him in, but does that really justify burning the WC for him? This is the team I am thinking about if I do WC:

    DDG
    Hutton-Moore-Wisdom-Bertrand-Taylor
    Sterling-Fabregas-Siggy-ADM-Wanyama
    Costa-Aguero-Welbz

I could downgrade DDG to upgrade defense also, but what do you all think??

I'm not a fan of the 3-5-2. Irrational maybe as no less inflexible than 3-4-3 but it feels easier to pick 3 good forwards than 5 good mids.

Held on to Terry for soooo long now and Chelsea finally looking good.. gonna stick with him and Baines. Was all set on Eriksen to Fabregas but Eriksen actually looking a good option of late and got good fixtures after the city game. Confused! 🙂

Currently sat at 31k with a squad of:

    Begovic, Myhill
    Clyne, Hutton, Duff, PvA, Caulker
    Hazard, Sterling, Siggy, Tadic, Marney
    Aguero, Costa, Pelle

I've got 1.4 million in the bank and 1 FT.

I'm undecided about whether it's worth wildcarding given the fact I'd only really change my defence, keepers and Marney. I want to keep Siggy, Hazard (got a feeling he'll explode soon...and even on current form he's only 2 points behind Fabregas), Costa, Aguero and Pelle. Is it worth it or should I just stick to Caulker to Gibbs for now and try keep hold of the wildcard for later?

Yeah, Caulker to Gibbs and Pelle to Welbeck is also tempting. I'd rather keep Pelle then Tadic ideally but can't see a direct Arsenal replacement who would be worth getting in at that price?

I am feeling a growing need to include Aguero in my team, which way would you do it
    Pelle out and either
    Ivan -6.5
Or downgrade a mid, but which!?!?!?!? Cheers

56 points and i dropped 20,000 places, very harsh.
Any suggestions for a replacement for Shaw?

The average was 51 so not that strange if you're on the top half of the table.

    Costa , wellbeck

    A) Kun (better team, great scorer, injury prone)

    B) Falcao (no european duties great scorer)

    C) Sturridge (great fixtures, injury prone

    D) Naismith (great fixtures, in form, at least 5,7!! million cheaper than the others)

    Thanks

Hi all. My current band of warriors:

    Krul / McCarthy
    Ivan / clyne / coloccini / Hutton / Bruce
    Hazard / sterling / tadic / Siggy / albrighton
    Aguero / Costa / Ulloa

    I have 1 FT and 1.2 ITB. Should I:

    A) Albrighton to Downing - I can just afford this
    B) Albrighton to another budget mid
    C) another transfer
    D) save

    Feedback much appreciated.

I'd say so, yes. Far greater attacking threat - expect Ivan to have 50+ points more than Azpil over the course of the season.

Maybe not 50pts. 30pts and it's still money well spent.

    Current team :

    Forster, Elliot
    Clyne, Wisdom, Hutton, PVA, Moreno
Fab, Siggy, Di Maria, Sterling, Albrighton
    Kun, Welbeck, Costa

    0.9m ITB, 2 FT's

Unsure what to do next, Moreno out? Thoughts?

    Forster - Gilks
    Clyne - Naylor - Chambers - PVA - Duff
Di Maria - Fabregas - Sterling - Siggy - Boyd
    Aguero - Costa - Pelle

    2FT, 0.3 in bank

    Want to bolster my defence...
    Is Fab/Sterling & PVA -> Chadli & Baines/Ivanovic madness?

The difference n price and ownership between Clyne and Bertrand is hilarious given they have identical points and both have a goal and an assist each

        agreed

I've got Clyne and have had from the off so might as well keep, it just seems remarkable to me that Bertrand falls under the radar so easily

Have a perfect example from my ML

It's all down to the first couple of weeks when Clyne scored well. He was the bandwagon that people are still on. Switching to Bertrand is crabby

            that's what I thought

I think Naimsith and Caulker to Welbeck and Ivan for -4 looks good then

Moore can then make way for Chambers later

Saw your reply now, keeping DDG and getting a back up keeper is too much investment and hassle for just 2-3 fixtures. And united haven't looked like they'll be keeping clean sheets soon. Get Evans/Shaw later when they get tighter.

Just get rid of DDG for someone like Fabianski or maybe even Szczesny imo
