Our Suspension Tightrope only kicked back into action last week but we’ve already seen a couple of players topple off after Gameweek 7 came to an end. Both Calum Chambers and Jonjo Shelvey went into the weekend with four yellows accrued and the pair were culpable yet again, earning their fifth domestic cautions to automatically trigger a one-match ban.

In an ill-tempered affair at Stamford Bridge, Chambers was a little fortunate not to receive his marching orders after Martin Atkinson chose not to dish out a second yellow for a foul on Andre Schurrle. Indeed, although the whistler booked seven players in the 2-0 win, the likes of Laurent Koscielny, Gary Cahill and Danny Welbeck were also shown a little leniency, and received a caution when a dismissal could just as easily have been the outcome. Welbeck owners will particularly be relieved after his wild lunge on Cesc Fabregas was only deemed worthy of a yellow.

Chambers – who has now been booked six times in just eight appearances for the Gunners – misses the Gameweek 8 home encounter against Hull but will return in time for the following week’s trip to Sunderland.

Shelvey will skip the Swans’ trip to Stoke next time around before coming back into contention for the Gameweek 9 home clash against Leicester. Team-mate Angel Rangel is available now, though, after serving his own one-match suspension against Newcastle on Saturday afternoon.

The duo join Wayne Rooney on the sidelines, then, as the United skipper serves the second of a three-match suspension away to West Brom. Rooney also misses a home match with Chelsea before being available in time for the Gameweek 10 Manchester derby at the Etihad.

Back to the Tightrope and Chambers’ team-mate Jack Wilshere is now the only player currently sitting with four cautions to his name. Just below him, though, are band of 10 players which include a trio of big-hitting Fantasy prospects, in the form of Diego Costa, Yaya Toure and Graziano Pelle.

    Guys...

I have 2 FT this week and 0.3M in the bank, and I think Welbeck is key:-
    My team:

    McCarthy
    Clyne Wilson Ivanovic
    Sigurdsson Sterling Fábregas Di María
    Ulloa Falcao Diego Costa

    Subs: Mannone Zaha Wasilewski Kaboul

I'm thinking of doing Ivan + Ulloa -> Mangala or Azpi + Webeck

Is this a good idea? Thoughts?

Hello DZ. What's your general feeling on Siggy at the moment?

I can't imagine many will be willing to part with the game's highest scoring midfielder so far, especially at such a cheap price, and with a likely 0.4m loss to buy him back.

However, with GWs 10-12 spelling eve/ARS/mci, does anyone plan to bench him? I'm looking at playing 4 at the back for those away games, as Sigurdsson has picked his points up mostly at home, the only exception being GW1 at a depleted United. Another option might be to rotate a decent fifth midfielder with him, or do you see him as unbenchable and simply tough the trickier fixtures?

    1. President John F. Keninnsie
      • 12 Years
      11 years, 9 months ago

I'll probably keep and play him. I think they'll score in the Everton and Arsenal games.

I suppose that's a fair point, Everton in particular have been far from solid at the back this season. Maybe I'm putting too much store in the colours on the ticker...

Not convinced myself. He was lucky to get what he did against the Toon. I'm not selling him but Chadli is really starting to tempt me along with Diame.

Go watch them again. Shocking defending for the first. My granny could've played Bony in on that one. The second he had the ball taken off him and then given right back by Sissoko I think it was. Screwed up a couple of other opportunities. He was generally poor.

May have to take your point on that without seeing it again, but you can only play what's in front of you. Can't argue that Newcastle's defence is a shambles though.

Hmm, Chadli is certainly an option. Has avl/STO/hul for those three as well, so could be a popular switch if Siggy blanks in the next couple.

    3. chrisjdgrady
      • 12 Years
      11 years, 9 months ago

I could see him getting points vs Everton for sure, maybe Arsenal, and less likely City. If he blanks this coming GW all the way through those I'd drop him but just as I wanted to drop him last week he got those assists and looks great value again. I think he's a relatively cheap never captain never bench option to just play every week.

    4. Sess!
      • 15 Years
      11 years, 9 months ago

I took him out (probably foolishly) on wildcard two weeks ago. Managed to cover his points this week luckily. I think if you had him from the start you should keep. I'm taking the opportunity to go for mane instead then going to switch back to Siggy GW 13 when fixtures switch.

      • 12 Years

Best value in the game and can bring it against the bigger teams too. Season keeper for me I feel. Just having him in your team accommodates so much in other areas. I definitely wouldnt ditch him. Would consider benching him alright.

    6. Zasa
      • 12 Years
      11 years, 9 months ago

Leaky Everton defense, home game, & a likely blanker. I'd take my chances considering his value.
Not much else in it, everthing will go through him. To think that people were opting to sell him this week, look what happened

Yeah agree on eventually moving away from Moreno, but for now I'm happy to tought out my decision to bring him in. I did it for the good fixtures, and he still has those.

Not entirely sold on a Burnley defender, I feel like it's a close thing between them keeping a clean sheet or conceding 4 no matter who the opposition.

not at all, Everton have been as bad as Liverpool for clean sheets IMO and Jagielka offers no goal threat (that goal will not happen again). Neil Taylor has been a great fantasy pick so far and unless he gets injured/sent off I'll probably keep him all season. Arsenal are also good for clean sheets away from home so Chambers at 4.6 is a fantasy godsend IMO.

Their fixtures ease up though and they are typically good at the back, Pool aren't. Swansea's fixtures get pretty tough in about 2 weeks... hoping Chambers will fall due to the suspension! migjt save and do Krul Taylor to Foster Chambers next week

    Clyne Bertrand Chambers PvA Duff

    Hazard DiM Sterling Siggy Boyd

    Aguero Costa Welbeck

PVA to Moore, Clyne to Azpi would be the only way. Don't think it's quite enough for you though

A bit too early for Azpi? Wait till GW 12 onwards?

    Current team!

    Krul-elliot

Wilson - Terry - Moreno - Naylor -Bruce

    Fab - Sterling - Siggy - Tadic - Marney

    Aguero - Welbeck - Costa

looks half decent on paper but still seeing those red arrows.

Is it time to ship out krul? one last chance against leicester at home?

Moreno? can't believe the amount of faith that's gone in to him, but the fixtures look alright.

Investment in bertrand or chambers? (when not suspended)
    Any comments welcomed!

Do you think Chelsea defence is essential? I mean Costa is essential also Fab/Hazard. So are 3 Chelsea players now essential?

£26 mill is a lot of your budget for three players. It may be a good pick, but not imo essential at that sort of price.

Foster or Adrian as only keeper for next 6?

I wouldn't touch either for the next six myself. I think both face too many good on form strikers.

I've had a brief look at fixtures and don't fancy any of the cheap keepers games. 5.1 is the cheapest.
If you're stuck at 5.0 it's pretty much just a matter of save points and keeping your fingers crossed for the odd CS.

I have Bertrand and Clyne already. Think the two I mention are the best fixture wise, Manonne for 3s instead of 2s perhaps

Adrian seems to be flavour of the month, so probably him on second thoughts.
              Decent pick.

Owners of Forster and a 4.0, looking ahead here, what's your plan for GW13 onwards? Terrible fixtures from GW13 to GW20, 6 games in 8 against top sides.

I'm looking at switching Forster out for Fabianski as SWA fixtures are easy till GW20 where the Jan wc can be played.

Or is there a rotation plan?

What to do with this lot?

    DDG/Gilks
    Chester/Cahill/Duff/Dummet/Clyne
    ADM/Siggy/Sterling/Downing/Marney
    Costa/Pelle/Aguero

    1.7 ITB

    A) Bring In Baines (Cahill would have to be his replacement unless I take a hit)
    B) Replace DDG (Tough fixtures after West brom)
    C) Replace Chester (Tough fixtures)
    D) Replace Dummet (Newcastle can't keep a CS)
    E) Save FT

With a defense of Moreno Clyne Bertrand Hutton Moore
    After doing Fab> Chadli
    Would you
    A:: Moreno > Baines +1.6 m
    B: Moore> Baines +0.1 m
The benefit of A is obviously the cash, whereas the benefit of B allows playing 4 3 3,playing double saints and Moreno and Baines and benching Chadli for gw8 for City away, but this seems a bit shortsighted, as i will be reverting back to 3 4 3 the following week and will be overloaded with decent defenders

I doubt he'll get the regular game time. If he does, well worth while and I'll chuck him in as soon as I'm sure he's there to stay.

Why is everyone ditching the Spanish Prince all of a sudden. He's fixture-proof. No? As soon as he blanks, Chadli will be subject to rotation and vanish into Spurs obscurity again.

Lads, I'm set on using my 2FTs for ulloa/wilson > welbeck/wisdom. Will have exactly 0.0 in the bank, should I just do the transfers now because I can't afford a welbeck rise..or delay it till after the int games since according to all price changes sites welbeck is nowhere near a rise...
