A pair of assists and two bonus points in Swansea’s home draw with Newcastle elevated Gylfi Sigurdsson to the top of the midfield standings in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game at the end of Gameweek 7. With 46 points accrued, the Icelandic international is second only to Diego Costa overall and, having started the season at just 6.0, he’s now climbed in cost to 6.8 – his rise in price of 0.8 is greater than any other player so far.

Averaging 6.6 points per appearance under Garry Monk, Sigurdsson has been snapped up by over 44% of FPL managers as he seamlessly settles back into life at the Liberty. Indeed, Sigurdsson’s Fantasy exploits have so far exceeded his displays from 2011/2, where, under the guidance of Brendan Rodgers, he served up seven goals, five assists and 11 bonus points in 18 appearances – averaging 5.7 points per match.

As the transfers in continue to pick up pace over the international break, we compare his displays over the two periods to assess his impact since returning to Wales.

Another clear example tonight of how Rooney is rapidly on the decline.

His quickness of thought and agility does not exist anymore. He needs to focus on his lifestyle choices, but maybe it's too late already.

The Rooney of old would have scored a hat-trick easily tonight.

Really frustrating how he's nailed on regardless of form or fitness

your fpl number points to a team with Bertrand and Tadic in so cant see why you're getting Bertrand - must be wrong fpl number? - but it seems a good transfer to make

0,2 m in the bank and 1 FT. What to do?

    DeGea - Myhill

    Baines - Wilsom - Hutton - Wisdom - Duff

Di Maria - Sigurdsson - Sterling - Hazard - Boyd

    Aguero - Costa - Ulloa

I usually like to skim through the pages to find out the commentary on goals and assists when I have missed a match but I cannot make heads nor tails of the England match from the last few pages.

Andros Townsend has to be the most overrated player in football. He scored a good goal tonight, but he is SOOO one-dimensional and predictable, we saw last season defences figured him out after 3 weeks, against half-decent opposition he is useless - no technique or creativity

    wow, surprising stat:

Since 2011 in the Premier League:

    Sergio Agüero:
    Games: 93
    Goals: 56
    Assists: 23

    Wayne Rooney:
    Games: 96
    Goals: 56
    Assists: 32

Mhm, but Aguero does tend to come off about 20 minutes before time or come on as a late sub (when not fully fit). And Rooney is usually on corners for United.

quick calc of mins and points of each works out as

rooney = 80.98 matches played with 6.95 ppg

aguero = 67.2 matches played with 7.26 ppg

          based on 90mins per match.

Forgetting the stats, everything that's good about the Swans goes through Gylfi.

Do you think it's still wise to bring in baines right now with the Everton def banged up? Coleman still out and stones now long term will this limit baines scoring??

I've ready done it but I'm not too worried about these injuries. Coleman is back soon and they did better before Stones anyway.

Stones has been their best defender. Hibbert has been the weak link

I really like Stones but Distin will step back in and they will be fine. I think that's harsh on Hibbert and besides, Coleman is back soon.

Yeah, exactly - that's why I'd say it's a little harsh. I think he's done OK considering. Not stood out but who ever expects Tony Hibbert to stand out? 😀

I don't think Baines is worth it unless Everton have a rock solid defense like Chelsea with consistent clean sheets. I know what he brings offensively and have owned him in the past im past years. If you want scores like 2,2,2,13 the. Go for it. I tired of the inconsistency and dropped him,

I have not, but obviously kept an eye on him. He is quite the force though and look forward to owning him. Clean sheets are important, but with all his attacking points, I'm happy.

Interesting. I haven't owned him in the past and a bit sceptical spending big at the back, even though at the end of the season he plays like another midfielder.
With the bandwagon coming he will rise in price either way.

I used to be a premium member. Don't put too much stock in stats like key passes in the final third. We've been hearing about Tadic for weeks and he hasn't done anything. Trippier is the most active defender in the final third of the pitch defensively, but he doesn't have anyone to pass the ball to.

Yeah. And don't buy all this hype about Costa's touches in the box either. He is not going to do a thing.

I look at the final points and watch the games. Stevie Wonder can see that Costa is racking up the points unlike the players I mentioned,

You're judging them too early. Their best fixtures are upcoming. Come find me in 6 weeks and if both have still failed to deliver - I'll accept you were right about them.

I have no interest in Mark's personal finances/gains but, when interpreted correctly, the member's area leads to improved rankings. It is, of course, upto you how you interpret the stats 😉

I did better when I was t a premium member and other have also. We've been hearing about Tadic and Trippier for several weeks and nada. Its a waste of money. Watch the games, read the watch list articles, look at the fixture table, and check site like FISO crack the code and Total FPL for price rises and decreases. That's all you need.

Tadic-- Mainly because he forms the core of his team's attacking outlet and they are widely expected to have a favorable run coming up. Plus, he's more likely to increase in price than Milner [more people likely to go in for Tadic than Milner IMO]

Siggy or Chadli not an option? Tadic is still yet to 'explode' and that could very well end up being a long wait.

Best of luck with the Tadic pick/punt. I've never been lucky to pick Silver when he goes on a good run and Tadic just reminds me of him somehow. Suffice to say I'll be staying clear.
