Our weekly analysis of the Captaincy contenders is rolled out once again this afternoon. As always, we take a three-part approach which includes the weekly poll standings, the Opta statistics and our Rate My Team projections to help steer your thoughts on the armband conundrum.

The Captain Poll

Yet again, the consistent Diego Costa leads the way in this week’s Captain Poll. The Chelsea forward has scored in all but one of his seven league appearances, with only champions Man City stopping him so far – although Palace have yet to concede at home under Neil Warnock, over 37% have placed their faith in the Spain international.

Sergio Aguero is some way back in second, with 19% opting for the City frontman. Aguero’s strike away to Villa means he’s now notched in five of his seven appearances and, perhaps crucially, he’s earned bonus points every time he has scored – Costa has achieved this on only three occasions. Visitors Spurs have a single clean sheet in five, and with Hugo Lloris a doubt, face a tough task to keep the champions at bay.

Danny Welbeck takes third spot as Arsenal prepare to entertain Hull at the Emirates. The summer signing has racked up four goals and an assist in just six appearances across all competitions for the Gunners and is expected to shrug off an ankle knock to start against a Tigers backline that has managed a single clean sheet in six. Team-mate Alexis Sanchez is also on the radar, though has been selected by just 2% of voters compared to Welbeck’s 12% show of support.

Man United pair Angel Di Maria (9%) and Radamel Falcao (2%) are in armband contention as they roll up to West Brom on Monday evening. A goal and assist in three of his last four appearances ensure the Argentine is the Red Devils’ most popular pick but Falcao has still managed to produce returns in each of his last three and looks a real differential here.

Graziano Pelle has scored and earned maximum bonus in each of his last two home appearances yet ahead of a St Mary’s meet with Sunderland has been selected by 3% of voters. Further down the pecking order, Liverpool duo Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge (providing he’s fit) seem overlooked options for a trip to basement-dwellers QPR, though Harry Redknapp’s side have only conceded three times in as many home matches and will be hoping to derail the Reds at Loftus Road.

It has been a long time gents!

What change(s) would you make to this lot this week? 1 FT, 2 million banked.

    Begovic
    Baines/Ivanovic/Clyne
    Sterling/Siggy/Fabregas/Tadic
    Pelle/Costa/Welbeck

    Fabianski/Boyd/Moore/Hutton

I'm thinking of getting rid of Fab due to the lack of goal threat. Which move do you recommend?

    A) Fabregas to ADM
    B) Fabregas to Alexis
    C) Fabregas to Silva
    D) Fabregas to Hazard
    E) Saving the FT

    Thoughts greatly appreciated! 😀

There you are! Interesting thoughts, I thought you were a big fan of Hazard, weren't you? He always keeps on appearing in your tables!

Alexis is a great shout I know, but the fact that he has played 90 minutes for Chile this week makes me re consider my decision to make the move this week.

And as I said above, I think the ADM ship has already passed. 😉

You should have said option E, then! 😀

Having seen your team, I don't think it is worth a WC, just yet.

I'm not a huge fan of Downing, if I were you, I would make the Downing to Chadli move for free next week.

That is where you and I differ. Downing right now is much better value than Chadli. If I get Chadli, it will be for Tadic.

I'm sure you must have watched the game against QPR. His average position was fairly deep, and he had only one touch in the penalty area. With Zarate back in the mix, he is a poor pick (unless Kouyate is back and Zarate is demoted to the bench)

Chadli is playing as a supporting striker these days. Great stats and has returns to justify them

You really must stop talking crap about position - let the others do it.

    Need some advice if possible:

    Team is:
    Begovic Krul
    Taylor Clyne Moreno Duff Moore
    ADM Fabregas Siggy Sterling Scheiderlein
    Ulloa Falcao Costa

2 FTs this week and £0.9m ITB.
Players on my radar are Forster, Baines, Ivanovic/Azpi, Chambers, 4.4m MID for Schneiderlein and Welbeck/Pelle.

Looking to get rid of Begovic, Moreno, Duff, Schneiderlein and Ulloa.

What should I do? What transfers should I prioritise? I want to do all of these transfers now but no wildcard.

Haven't taken any points hits yet this season, are they really worth it? Its not like I am struggling with injuries.

    Thanks in advance.

Prioritise schneiderlein and ulloa to 4.4m and welbeck this week.

Then slowly improve the defence, no point getting chambers this week anyway. Moreno is fine this week against QPR.

Thanks - any advice on which £4.4m is the best option? Tiote?

2FT - zero in bank - can't believe I might use my free transfers.

    Fabregas / ADM / Siggy / Sterling
    Costa / Aguero / Naismith

Elliot: Cattermole / duff / Wisdom

first 11 looks ok and not much you can free up on the bench. Worth binning catermole if you're not touching the first 11?
