Stick or twist? The dilemma of whether to hold key players dominated much of the discussion within the Fantasy Football Scout community this week, as stubborn and risk-taking Fantasy mangers prepared to do battle in Gameweek 10.

Whether you’re looking to ditch or keep your main assets, there was a feast of information to gorge on throughout the week, with our hot topics, articles and members tables helping to finalise those last-minute transfer plans. We look back on all that activity and, as ever, find time to catch up on the latest ups and downs in our community competitions.

The Community Articles

The Puntmaster has been assessing potential replacements for Gylfi Sigurdsson after taking a look at the Swansea manโ€™s declining attacking threat and poor upcoming fixtures. Our regular scribe was back later in the week with his regular trio of punts, including another potential midfield replacement for the Icelandic international, for those who fancy taking a chance on a differential.

The Sarjeant also turned up with his popular regular, offering up further analysis of current form throughout the Premier League. Meanwhile, Sticky Mockwell provided his report on the effectiveness of goalkeeper rotation over the opening nine Gameweeks. It provided a timely reminder on the merits of a pair of active, alternating stoppers.

Donโ€™t forget, if youโ€™ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

There are a multitude of factors to ponder ahead of Gameweek 10: the choice of options in midfield being a major consideration. Right now, there are a handful of premium midfielders vying for our attention, whilst a slump in output amongst some popular Fantasy picks, allied with the ongoing uncertainty over Diego Costa’s minutes, suggests that the forthcoming set of fixtures could shake-up mini leagues.

On one side of the battle lines there are the โ€œTwistersโ€ who are ditching the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Costa and Raheem Sterling without a second thought. In the other corner there are the โ€œStickersโ€, resolutely clinging on to their fading stars in hope that class is permanent and a revival is on the way. In our discussion on which camp will prevail this weekend, Jafalad was among those who believe Costa ditchers will be left disappointed.

Later in the week we pondered whether we should welcome this apparent break up of the template team . Baines on Toast was among those who joined the discussion, stating that, with so many good expensive midfield options and just five slots, itโ€™s impossible to โ€œcatch โ€˜em allโ€.

Such is the tension surrounding this weekโ€™s transfer decisions, there was even talk that Sergio Aguero may falter due to Manchester Cityโ€™s poor form and midweek injury concerns around David Silva and Yaya Toure. Demi sparked this discussion to gather the communityโ€™s derby day predictions. Meanwhile, Beavis proclaimed that, even without Silva, Aguero has the form to shine. His excellent number crunching certainly puts forward a compelling case for captaining the Argentine hit man, with or without Silvaโ€™s craft providing the ammunition.

Chelsea have arguably one of the best fixtures of the week as they entertain QPR at Stamford Bridge. However, with Jose Mourinho continuing to be vague over Costaโ€™s minutes earlier in the week, Rickardinho was eyeing up other Chelsea options and urged the community to consider Oscarโ€™s excellent recent form and his high points tallies against “lesser” sides.

Over on the other side of London, Agbonlahorse has been looking into Arsenal striker Danny Welbeckโ€™s potential. Heโ€™s far from impressed and wonders whether cheap strikers at big clubs, such as Welbeck and Evertonโ€™s Steven Naismith, are duping us into thinking they will perform beyond their price tag.

In contrast, Evertonโ€™s defence may be expensive but is worth every penny, according to MOTR in his run down of the pros and cons of doubling up on the Toffees backline.

Wakeyโ€™s Falling Stars team regularly reveals others that are making a mockery of their price tag. Each week he builds an XI comprised of those that have suffered price falls below their initial valuation. Gameweek 9 was another success story for Wakeyโ€™s ensemble, with the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Swanseaโ€™s Wilfried Bony performing well. Valuation was also being discussed by Milanista, who issued another call to FPL to disclose the secret calculations behind their price changes.

Price is something the communityโ€™s weekly Scout Pick champions need to keep a close eye on as they take on the Scouts with just a 83.5m budget. Saniul brought some much needed credibility back to the title of Scout Pick Community Champion last week by beating Paulโ€™s total. This weekโ€™s champion, Magerost, will be hoping to do even better with his election winning set of picks. Just a reminder that our search for a community champion now takes place in its own community article, published the Monday before each Gameweek at 10am.

Finally, Nighthiker took a look back at some of the pre-season bandwagon flops the community optimistically drafted in for Gameweek 1. Meanwhile, Evs embarked on a more jolly stroll down memory lane in his discussion about the seasonโ€™s best players and moments so far.

The Members Tables

Liverpoolโ€™s poor form in front of goal was a key issue covered in this weekโ€™s members tables. In my assist imminent table Liverpool midfielders dominate, showing just how badly they need Daniel Sturridge back to convert the many chances they are still creating.

The Fantasy Freak specifically took a look at Raheem Sterling to see just how he compares to one of this weekโ€™s most popular transfers Alexis Sanchez. Liverpoolโ€™s Mario Balotelli rides high in Erlandoโ€™s table looking at trigger happy players who are notching up a prolific number of goal attempts. His poor goal scoring form is clearly not for the want of trying.

The Community Tournaments

The Tinkerman increased his lead in the Fantasy Football Scout moderators and contributors league over second placed Mark.

Rasping Drive continues to top The Puffinboy Memorial Cup, for our veteran posters as well as the FFS Old Farts Club and the FFS Deadzone leagues.

In TorresMagicโ€˜s Last Man Standing competition, Mr Rabbit hit the top score in Gameweek 9 with 74. There are now 997 teams left after 57 were eliminated after the safety score was set at 30.

The FFS UEFA Hockey World Cup reaches the semi-final stage in Gameweek 10. Here’s the latest from ENR looking back at the group stages and ahead to the weekend’s fixtures.

Sterling to Ramsey? Burnley & Swansea looks like nice fixtures.

Or save and get Walcott when he has some minutes under the belt?

Thing is, Sterling has already dropped and has Chelsea next. I can see Newc pulling an upset and a mass Sterling Exodus.

Unfortunately/fortunately, we're both without Arsenal cover this week. I would've made the Sterling--->Ramsey move if I had Costa and no Sanchez. Yours is for a FT as well, isn't it?

But with the amount of transfer you made your overall position was brilliant! I on the other hand am just satisfied finishing under 100k. Hoping to cut my OR from last season to halve this season to continue my trend. Costa looks like a must have I guess? I am fighting the urge not to take hits to get fabregas in... Plus my first hit this season resulted in a massive red arrow.. (thought tadic helped me gain positions back the week after!)

It's early days but keep up what you're doing and you'll have your best season for sure. I sold Fab a few weeks ago to get Baines alongside Kun and Costa which worked out for me, but Costa's injury really screwed that plan up. Costa's ownership is still so high so it's risky to go without, hopefully I can get this week out of the way without suffering too much ๐Ÿ˜€

Thanks man! โ˜บ really appreciate it! I don't expect myself to last in my current position that long. Honeymoon period going to be over! Yes that's true! Costa's injury really affected my plan and I didn't really want to replace him due to his high ownership. So too in the case of sterling. I've been watching Chelsea's game in fear (effect of not having fabregas!) looks like you would be doing that this week! Good luck man! โ˜บ time to grab another green arrow!

Your team looks good, I don't think you need to use a transfer this week. I'd look to move Henderson on soon though, you could downgrade him to Boyd sometime over the next couple of weeks which would allow you to get Walcott for Tadic. Tadic' fixtures turn ugly around when Walcott will be starting I think. Save this week though and I'd bench Krul, Chester, Naylor and Hendo. It looks like Sakho will miss this week though so Hendo will come on.

Thanks man for the feedback! Really appreciate it! Yes that's exactly what I did! Hendo as first sub and the rest in that order! Yeap I'm planning to get rid of hendo soon, don't really want to waste a transfer on him and I haven't wc yet! I might wait for Walcott to start showing some promise before getting him in! Tadic has served me well enough thanks once again! โ˜บ

Leaning towards Chadli and Downing with Siggy vs. Everton clearly the toughest fixture

I have been fretting over a similar issue for the last hour and just cant make my mind up.

Start Siggy or Bertrand. RMT starts Bertrand, my selection has been on Siggy all week, but have been burnt so many times by ignoring RMT.

      No idea what to do.

I think if I was you I'd play Siggy. Playing behind Bony he's always a chance of assists (7 in 9 games) and should be scoring more too.

I'd play him as well but Downing (Stoke) and Chadli (Villa) are so tempting.

You're right, the Everton match is the hardest fixture out of your 3, I am up to speed on Chadli but not so much on Downing as haven't watched their recent matches. Just going on info on here I agree and would bench Siggy.

Thanks for the analysis, will stick with Siggy over Bertrand for myself.

I was tempted to ditch Siggy too, but only player I wanted to swap for was Mane. That would leave me with 3 Saints and am already planning an exit strategy for the 2 I currently own, so decided to stick with Siggy.

From what I gather, he's going to start. Drogba starting his 3rd gane in 6 days would be a bit much for him at this point of his career. He played a full 90 on Sunday and Tuesday.

    Begovic (Hamer)
    Baines Clyne Terry Chambers (Williamson)
    Fabregas ADM Tadic (Henderson Marney)

Am I right to do so?

Well Chelsea players seem the way to go and Saints fixtures turn in a few weeks , no immediate rush but we have a similar set up , im looking at gw13 when Bego and Clyne and possibly Tadic have to go , so start planning now

Agreed. (one last chance and all that)
I reckon that Bego needs to go next week and then start to divest my Saints players so saving the transfer now makes sense.

If no other suggestions then I think I'll stick.

He was shite last season, like West Ham. But thing change overtime. I guess you haven't watched much of West Ham recently then. Really attacking side and good fixtures too

He is the real deal acquafresca but everyone has their preference. Go with Milner especially if you dont have a city cover.

          Compares to stats below.

          Downing 83% 23KP 26CC 20 total shots.

          Compared to the big boys
          Hazard only has 12 shots
          Fabregas only has 11
          Siggy 8 shots

      Compare this to
      ADM 81% 19 KP 23 CC
      Hazard 91% 17 KP 18 CC
      Siggy 85% 15KP 22CC
      Eriksen 83% 16KP 16CC
      Sterling 79% 21KP 23CC
      Sanchez 85% 16KP 18CC

Cheers, and with Silva out should get playing time. Don't know why he was dropped after a string of 90min appearances... then City lose.

Milner. Lampard may not start but he's your more explosive option, off the bench goals type.

Another one to consider is Sissohko...

they have improved, but struggle to score. their goals come from little flukes and spurts of play. Sissoko not involved in any scoring plays....

This gameweek reminds me of December 4th of last year.

Suarez 24 points, Hazard 17, Yaya 18, etc. Games being played at the same time with juicy matchups.

Can see massive points in it tomorrow.
