It’s “squeaky bum time” in the ScoutCast studio as Granville continues to chip away at my previously “unassailable” mini-league lead. My co-host stumbled through an injury-strewn Gameweek 12 with the honours, leaving me trailing and worrying that he’ll have clawed it all back by Christmas.

Pressing on, we flog the Hazard vs Fabregas debate once again and run the rule over a cast of budget strikers, desperately searching for the optimum way to spend the two transfers burning holes in our pockets.

We asses the week’s transfer bandwagons, look ahead to Gameweek 13 and take time out to tease Jonty on his Di Maria u-turn. We then combine “powers” to terrifying effect and prepare the ScoutCast XI for their Fantasy Football Scout Cup qualifying round, having flexed its muscles to the tune of a 59-point Gameweek 12. Intimidating stuff.

Lubricate your hinges via this link, or bathe in WD40 via the handy player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

trying to improve the defence, is this better / sideways / worse ?

    Baines & Moore out
Azipi & Rangel (5.6 or less defender) in

Can't seem to go one week without injury concerns. If not Costa, then Hutton. If not Hutton, then Baines. If not Baines, then Sakho. If not Sakho, then Downing. If not Downing, then I'm needlessly worrying about Eriksen. Now, Tim Krul. 🙁

Better to have ADM and have a weaker defence (Taylor,Dummett,Chambers,Guzan) + fab OR not have ADM(downing instead) and have a stronger defence (Azpil,Jags,Taylor,Fabianski) + hazard. Which will result in more points over next 6-8 weeks?

They could but I think it's more likely that CIty will score and then you're kinda praying on attacking points. Clyne is decent going forward but he's not the level of Baines I think for that kind of never bench strategy

      Oooh thats a tough one.
      C) Hazard and Siggy, with your cheapie moved to a forward position instead.

But out of those two? B

First one has the two penalty takers, second one probably more consistent.

      Tough.
I would say have 3 of those four...

    3. the cromulent one

      Bony & Hazard.
      Overall, more goal threat.

Very true & why I thought I wanted that pair.
However, I don't trust either of them as a sound captain's choice.
I realise Hazard can nab a nice a brace but, trying to figure out which home game is a different story.
        Argh!

I think reliable and consistent points will prevent you from wanting to transfer them out too. If Hazard and Bony (due to their inconsistency) go a couple of GW's getting blanks and not doing much, you'll be more likely to spend a FT shifting them on. Whereas if Costa and Siggy blank a couple you'll more likely stay patient because you know it won't stay that way for long.

With Baines, Chadli and Krul as doubts I may not be able to save a transfer as planned.

So how about these as moves?

    A) Krul - Guzan (bringing forward a few weeks a planned move)

    C) Baines - Yun & Chadli - Di Maria (-4)

How nailed on is Ameobi? I have decided that it's time i started having a good bench. So at 4.4 he would be a steal if nailed on. Thoughts?

Aarons expected back next week, which might affect Ameobi game time. Other than that, he seems be nailed imo.

Thoughts on this team going forward? Not my team yet but what's in the pipe line.

    Guzan* McCarthy

    Baine Azpi hutton Yun* Saylor*

    Sanchez ADM* Oscar* Siggy Boyd

    Aguero Costa Sakho

    * These are players I dont have yet. Worth a few hits to lay the pipelines? Also Sakho could become Rooney with a downgrade ADM to 5.5 Mid or ANO 6m striker

I actually like it a lot, looks pretty formidable

One possibly edit would be having Haz over Oscar and downgrading Costa

I was thinking aout Haz alright. Currently on Fab but the downgrade to Oscar allows ADM. If I went without ADM I oculd have maybe Haz and Nasri

Back to 4 pts behind you , please take a few hits this week .

In similar position with Baines and Chadli, on - 4 already and very likely gonna be - 8 with Haz in for Chadli.

      Lay that pipeline

I dig that team a lot Badger, great rotation in the back & a solid big hitter combo.
(Dummet > Saylor IMO) That midfield is where it's at right now & where you will be rewarded the most this w/e. All have good form & you have some clear goal, PK, FK, & assist threat in there.
Up-front. apart from a Sakho --> Austin switch if he's injured, it's superb as well.

Great plans & great team Badger. Cheers 🙂

Well, three of four weeks ago we didn't have teams playing 3 game in 7 days either... Now did we?
And, as a result we adjust our strategies.
      Easy game.

The Downing news was a relief. I'm still waiting to hear on Duff, Baines, and Chadlii. Might have to deal with Moore at this rate which is hardly ideal but I don't want to have only 2 starting defenders. Tadic and Pelle need to go too really.

          What, I don't quite understand?

Of course I know what's happening this time of year & it's why I adjust my transfers / strategies accordingly in the weeks leading up to the Xmas silly season.

          I don't need a bench in GW7 I really need one in come GW13...

I remember only three to four weeks ago people telling me I was an idiot to suggest such a thing.

Mate... 4 weeks ago you were an idiot if you were preaching this.
There was no need to ensure that our 5th def or mid was nailed on.
Especially if it came at the cost of transferring in a Sanchez or Baines type.

Now, leading into the Xmas season we need to ensure that we spend a bit more on our bench because rest, rotation, & injuries will be much more prevalent with the uptick in fixtures.

And, as a result we adjust our strategy; this game isn't *black & white*...

To close, drop "I am so SMRT tone." it's truly unbecoming...

        0.4m itb.

I can do Pelle to Rooney with a -4
        Pelle + Bertrand + Arfield ===> Rooney + Yun + Boyd.
        Is it worth it?

I am not to keen on Chelsea defence since I believe that Hutton/Naylor rotation would give me comparable clean sheets at a lesser cost.
