It’s “squeaky bum time” in the ScoutCast studio as Granville continues to chip away at my previously “unassailable” mini-league lead. My co-host stumbled through an injury-strewn Gameweek 12 with the honours, leaving me trailing and worrying that he’ll have clawed it all back by Christmas.

Pressing on, we flog the Hazard vs Fabregas debate once again and run the rule over a cast of budget strikers, desperately searching for the optimum way to spend the two transfers burning holes in our pockets.

We asses the week’s transfer bandwagons, look ahead to Gameweek 13 and take time out to tease Jonty on his Di Maria u-turn. We then combine “powers” to terrifying effect and prepare the ScoutCast XI for their Fantasy Football Scout Cup qualifying round, having flexed its muscles to the tune of a 59-point Gameweek 12. Intimidating stuff.

Lubricate your hinges via this link, or bathe in WD40 via the handy player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      Great team.

I don't like to bench Chambers - he's a likely lad for attacking points

Yeah I know but certain defenders I'm loath to bench in case that's the week they score big.

And its a 3.9m defender for QPR.

          Call me narrow minded... 🙂

Cheers lads. Yeah Chambers is a tough one but QPR and Swansea are both at home and after a tough CL game think it's worth the risk. Might play anyway if Baines does not feature.

Just listening to the scoutcast...this idea dawned on me if Baines is out -

AdM, Pelle, Baines > Rooney, Hazard, Yun (-4)

    Would leave me with...

    Krul Elliot
    Clyne Chambers Wisdom Yun STaylor
    Hazard Sanchez Sigurdsson Downing Marney
    Costa Aguero Rooney

0.7m in the bank for Clyne > Azpi if I decide to do so in future weeks. Thoughts?

as a United fan, there's no way that continues. It was a tactical decision pure and simple, to take advantage of the counter attack knowing they would be defending most of the game.

thanks Ryan. Rooney tends to go on these runs when gets confidence - and he obviously has bags full of it at the moment. Great scoring record against Hull and Stoke. Di Maria is class, but it still doesn't seem like he's a proper goal threat (i wouldn't count that 93rd minute missed chance as the norm)

Well the formation switch is positive for both of them. I can't see United going back to 4141 but you never know. Ultimately Uniteds formation has a large bearing on the FPL appeal on both Rooney and ADM.

Yea, perhaps a more prudent approach is to just hang on to AdM and assess the formation. Seeing that i'm on top of my ML and most rivals have di maria.

If I sell Baines, I want to use the money wisely. Not sold on Chelsea defence yet. If anything, it will be a big Baines downgrade to free up cash.

I may as well. But would be good to wait to decide what to do with those funds as there's a quick turnaround coming up midweek.

Well if he's out and Downing on the mend, I don't want to use a transfer on Downing - still great value if can continue his form.

Hence the above plan if Baines is 100% ruled out. Maybe even if a slight doubt 😐 I'd have thought you'd like the Rooney switch 😀

Di Maria is a better option than Rooney in my opinion.

Not saying AdM is a bad option, but just seeking thoughts on him vs Rooney. RVP and Rooney took corners off adm against Arsenal - not sure if that will continue granted. Rooney is a form player and he's coming into some good form. Might be proactive to try and get on that?

Or would rank come into play a little bit? Top of my ML, everyone has ADM. That's a pretty compelling reason to keep adm, but maybe Rooney could extend my lead 🙂

🙂 what's your take on it? Losing Baines obviously is against the grain.

But it gives me Hazard + Rooney in place of Pelle + AdM

AdM is more or less = Rooney

            But Hazard definitely outweighs Pelle!

Mate I'm probably not the best person to ask, as I don't have Baines or ADM, and I just transferred Rooney in.
I never got Baines because I decided to get Bertrand instead to go with my Clyne. Allowed me extra funds to use in midfield while Berty returned similar points to Baines.
I'm not sold on ADM (minimal touches in the box and shots from inside the box) and I agree with you that him playing OOP was just a one off. So if I was deciding between ADM and hazard, it's hazard all day.
Pelle isn't getting the opportunities he had a few weeks ago. He barely saw much of the ball in the villa game (even though I think villa will go on a good run defensively now) and I think this is something he is going to get used to against these tougher teams.
Rooney's stats haven't been great in the last few games, but look who they have played. He is still getting shots away in those games, and when given a big chance, he takes it (as we saw last weekend). So that's why I transferred Pelle to rooney this week.
Sorry for going over the top with the response. But at the end of the day, you can't have them all......

So yes Roo + Haz is better than Pelle + ADM. As long as you are able to rotate your D so that you can get similar returns compared to if you still had Baines. This game is all about using your funds effectively.

Thanks for the reply. Definitely agree with the logic there and it's what is going through my head at the moment as well - it's a calculated risk that has good chance of paying off.

You definitely lose out on someone - but it's pretty damn hard to ignore Chelsea's form at the moment. I feel it warrants a double up, while AdM vs Rooney is a coin toss imo.

Not too sure about selling ADM. I'm trying to bring im in atm. I'd keep as I'm not totally into Rooney.

Any ohter way to get Roo in? Try dowgrading Downing and Clyne instead.

Thanks. Surely Haz Roo outweighs AdM Pelle going forward though. Downing Clyne nah can't make the coin there unfortunately.

Again, this is dependent on Baines being ruled out.

This next week and a half will involve 3GW's. Will we get some strong insight as to how nailed on certain players will be when the busy xmas schedule comes around? Can we assume those who will start in each of the next 3GW's will continue to be rotation proof for the xmas period?

I want to sell Forster, but stuggling to think of a keeper.

De Gea - good fixtures but Utd's defense...

          lol, yeah .

Just figure that with 2 games in 3 or 4 days , is possible Chadli and Baines to miss both.
          If so hit pays.

I dig that team a lot Badger, great rotation in the back & a solid big hitter combo.
(Dummet > Saylor IMO) That midfield is where it's at right now & where you will be rewarded the most this w/e. All have good form & you have some clear goal, PK, FK, & assist threat in there.
Up-front. apart from a Sakho --> Austin switch if he's injured, it's superb as well.

Great plans & great team Badger. Cheers 🙂

Interesting how people are quick to change their tune over having a working bench.
I remember only three to four weeks ago people telling me I was an idiot to suggest such a thing.

Well, three of four weeks ago we didn't have teams playing 3 game in 7 days either... Now did we?
And, as a result we adjust our strategies.
      Easy game.

The Downing news was a relief. I'm still waiting to hear on Duff, Baines, and Chadlii. Might have to deal with Moore at this rate which is hardly ideal but I don't want to have only 2 starting defenders. Tadic and Pelle need to go too really.

          What, I don't quite understand?

Of course I know what's happening this time of year & it's why I adjust my transfers / strategies accordingly in the weeks leading up to the Xmas silly season.

          I don't need a bench in GW7 I really need one in come GW13...

Mate... 4 weeks ago you were an idiot if you were preaching this.
There was no need to ensure that our 5th def or mid was nailed on.
Especially if it came at the cost of transferring in a Sanchez or Baines type.

Now, leading into the Xmas season we need to ensure that we spend a bit more on our bench because rest, rotation, & injuries will be much more prevalent with the uptick in fixtures.

And, as a result we adjust our strategy; this game isn't *black & white*...

To close, drop "I am so SMRT tone." it's truly unbecoming...

        0.4m itb.

I can do Pelle to Rooney with a -4
        Pelle + Bertrand + Arfield ===> Rooney + Yun + Boyd.
        Is it worth it?

I am not to keen on Chelsea defence since I believe that Hutton/Naylor rotation would give me comparable clean sheets at a lesser cost.

Ryan made a great point about reliability & consistency last page.
I agree with him, it's why I've kept Siggy since Gw1 & why I only get rid of Costa because of the injury. Plus, Costa's an easy skipper each week. Many would not feel at ease w/ the armband on Bony, you could even argue Hazard's a hazard in away games (sorry). So the former wins for me on the captaincy aspect.

Now for double-digit hauls & general "explosiveness", they are abundant in B. With PK's in both of their lockers. Keep in mind they are also notoriously streaky players who bounce, & you better be lucky to catch that brace on the first dribble 😉

Though I think I'd take the the riskier option that provides more goal threat, at the expense of the reliability. You reap what you sow, & at this current point in the season the risky duo edges it out for me. The higher ceiling of a possible 4 goals each w/e convinces me fully to opt for B.
In contrast to the better value mid w/ assists & FK's in his pocket + the ex-communicated Spaniard who won't let you down with a goal, even on a bad day (when Hazard scores a hat-trick)
      😉

      B for me

Last year A. Carroll had almost 2 headed goal attempts per appearance.
(He had 5 alone in the Everton game this year too)

Interestingly, A.Cresswell has produced over 4 crosses per match so far this season.
So with WHM's fixtures up to the Jan WC, I think a £5.4mil Cresswell is a decent shout.

Fair point but can we expect Carroll to continue starting all the way till the Jan WC?

That's just the thing... this only adds to the value Cresswell already has.
He's 2nd only to Baines in chances created amongst the defenders.
And, we already see he's one of the most prolific crossers of the ball too.
Finally, if Carroll is healthy they'll be enough mins for him over the log jam of upcoming fixtures.

Okay, so there's a decent 3.9m for a few weeks, with great fixtures.....

            * Next 3 games.
Also, we just might be able to squeeze him on the very end of our bench until the Jan WC.
            Might...

not really loving the Hull defence and fixtures

Plus it would be to enable Rooney in this week. Want to maximize points potential 🙂

Baines, Pelle, Adm > Yun, Hazard, Rooney (-4) on the cards.

Against the grain on here, but when i played around with it on transfer page...it just jumped out to me.

    Best two mids for 12.3?

    Eriksen and Boyd/Ameobi?
    Navas/Barkley/Chadli and Jedinak?
    Montero and Downing?
    Two Others?

If Downing is fit, the third option for sure IMO.
Seems more reliable & both have great fixtures.

Yep, Yaya was immense. It was relentless as well as he did it midweek and then again on the weekend. He just kept on producing when we were struggling with players constantly being rotated.
