Our analysis of the Gameweek captaincy contenders arrives once again this evening as Fantasy managers quickly turn their attentions to the weekend’s fixtures. As always, we take a three-part approach, which includes the weekly poll standings, the Opta statistics and our Rate My Team projections to help steer your thoughts on the armband conundrum.

The Captain Poll

After his midweek demolition of Sunderland, Sergio Aguero is head and shoulders above any other candidate as City prepare for the visit of Everton. Selected by 52% of voters so far, the Argentine – in spite of his superb season – has surprisingly blanked in three of his six home appearances and has managed only one double-figure haul at the Etihad to date. The Toffees roll up to Manchester in poor defensive form, though – without a clean sheet on their travels all season, Roberto Martinez’ side have conceded in five of the last six Gameweeks.

Chelsea duo Diego Costa and Eden Hazard are both fancied to deliver the goods away to Newcastle. Costa has delivered more yellow cards than goals on the road (five to four) and has notched just once in his last three away trips but having missed out due to suspension in midweek, he’ll be raring to go against the injury-hit Magpies. Hazard has yet to score on his travels this season – indeed, the Belgian has managed only two assists away from Stamford Bridge all season and has blanked in each of his last four appearances on the road.

Charlie Austin’s superb home form brings the QPR top scorer into consideration, with 7% of the votes cast. The budget striker has racked up four goals and two assists in his last four at Loftus Road and, up against a Burnley side with a single clean sheet on their travels, he’s looking for a third 10+ points haul in front of his own fans which would fire the R’s out of the drop zone.

After netting Villa’s winner at Palace on Tuesday evening, Christian Benteke is amongst the favourites for a plum home clash with Leicester. The Foxes arrive without suspended skipper Wes Morgan and look unlikely to improve a defensive record which has seen them keep out their opponents in just one of the last 10 Gameweeks.

Alexis Sanchez is also in contention as the Gunners roll up to Stoke. Unlike Chelsea’s Hazard, the Chilean has delivered on the road – four of his nine league goals have arrived outside of the Emirates, suggesting he could be a real differential against a Potters side with a single shut-out since Gameweek 3.

    Some interesting facts (Source Dailymail)

    - Arsenal would sit 16th one point over relegation zone without Sanchez goals

    - Man City would sit 8th without Aguero goals

    - Chelsea would stll be 1st without Diego Costa goals

+ ... Liverpool sit there because they are without Suarez & Sturridge's goal.

Btw, it looks like Costa is not that essential for them.

Which of the following would you do? Defense is Baines, Clyne, Naylor, Duff and Bruce (don't ask). 1FT and 1.0 ITB:

    A) Clyne to Azpi
    B) Bruce/Duff/Naylor to a 5.0 or less defender
    C) Both for -4
    D) None and save FT

    Thanks!

Giroud to Costa or save for another week?

A bit unsure about Costa, Rooney, Baines, Giroud atm.

Think Im better off just holding on to Giroud and then weigh up options with a double transfer next week..

What do ye think of this?

If you're not feeling it stick with Giroud, then do the double transfer next week. Giroud away to Stoke can deliver at least as much as Costa away to Newcastle imo.

Currently debating on who's to start....

Here is my starting team: 4-3-3

    Guzan (LEI)
Hutton (LEI) Chambers (stk) Azpi (new) Baines (mci)
Sanchez (stk) Hazard (new) Downing (SWA)
Costa (new) Aguero(c) (EVE) Austin (BUR)

    Here's my bench:
Heaton (qpr) Siggy(whu) Boyd(qpr) Naylor (whu) (sus)

    A) Keep/ Save
    B) Change Siggy to one of the defenders.
    C) Other suggestions

    Thank you in advance!!

Well, 5th midfielders would just most of the time be left on your bench, so having a player that starts every game and is capable of some points now and then is basically everything you want. On that note i guess it really doesnt matter if you go with Cambiasso or Boyd or whoever, since theyll sit out most gw`s anyway.

yep and none of them have any real threat unless you want to splash so extra cash on jedinak for pens. But waste of money for your 5th mid if you ask me

    Hi Guys,

    Am new in commenting section.

    I have Begovic
    Clyne, Iva, Chambers, (duff, moore)
    Siggy, Hazard, Alexis, Downing,
    Rooney, Costa, Austin.

    Bego > Guzan or
    Bego, Rooney >Guzan, Costa.

I am not sure rooney will shine as Costa, I think the saints are very strong despite the losses. Thanks

Decent posters online at the moment so seems as good a time as any for some advice.

    Forster
    Baines, Dawson, Yun
    Haz, Cesc, ADM, Siggy
    Aguero, Rooney, Kane

    Subs: Boyd, Moore, Naylor
    1 FT, 0.2 itb

    A: Save
    B: Forster > Guzan
    C: Moore > Hutton
    D: Baines > Terry/Azpi
E: Cesc > Eriksen (leaving enough money for Dawson to Azpi next week)

      save IMO

If Cesc picks 5th card you can still make Cesc> Erik and Dawson > Azpi next week with 2FT
(if you can afford Eriksen price rise tonight)
keep Baines with QPR in GW 16 and reassess afterwards.

Thinking Bertrand to Azpilicueta, but RMT doesn't have that as being any more beneficial over the next 6 games. What do you think? Reluctant to remove Bertrand as he's good going forward and I had him at 5.2.

    Tremendous value for a defender.

      if he's fit he's a regular 2 pointer agreed
but even a citeh fan i've never been taken on a fantasy level-price,bps in a flashy team and limited attacking potential

27pts in last 4 games, 3 of them being away. there's an argument to be made if we're talking from start of the season but lately he's had LOTS of shots. think he'll easily outscore fab til january WC.

otherwise, i'd hold transfer. rooney not worth shipping unless he's definitely ruled out

Costa's ownership is the worrying part here for me.

He can easily grab a brace at anytime.

my brother said the same thing today and i couldn't disagree more. same argument could be made for plenty players. he hasn't scored more than 1 since GW 4 and at that, hasn't looked brilliant. also, mourinho saying that this month will be hard for him with so many games would worry me if i owned him

I agree Ya Ya is overpriced , as we speak.
By the end of December though, he may well be underpriced.

Im punting on him but can easily switch to Silva if needs be

I am confused about the use of wildcards.
a question asked earlier was when to use it and the answer was a double gameweek.
Don't we get another in Jan and the old one is carried over? I certainly did not think so?

Chelsea have a meaningless game 3 days after their mach tomorrow, so it's fair to say that JM will pick his best team tomorrow I think. Talk of rotation is understandable, but an injury to Cahill and Matic's suspension, couples with Costa returning to the side, is already 3 changes and I'm not sure JM will want toany changes to a team on a run.

    How to fix this mess?

    Elliot Krul
    Yun Duff Baines Clyne Chester
    Hazard Chadli Sánchez Albrighton Sigurdsson
    Agüero Austin Bony

    1FT, 2.6 ITB

Can do Bony to Costa or better to fix defence?

    Thanks in advance.

Wouldn't call it a mess, decent team actually.

Clyne -> Azpi/Terry for me, I'd hold onto Bony.

Costa is a differential at the top. Defence is ok, not the greatest. The only way you can fix it would be chester to azpi/terry

I'd get a Chelsea defender in.

I don't see Costa as value for money (famous last words) I'm thinking of Bony to Kane myself to bring Yaya into my mids

Teams fine, hold Clyne for the next two. Albrighton/Krul first to go imo.
