We’re just hours away from the deadline for Matchday 6 of this season’s Champions League as the group stages come to their culmination. As always, we assess the Fantasy iTeam (FiT) Player Price List ahead of this evening’s deadline and focus our attentions on a number of teams with plenty still to play for.

A free Fantasy football app, FiT is available on a number of mobile devices, including iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Android. Fantasy managers have until 10 minutes before the first kick-off in any given Matchday to make any final alterations to their starting XIs and it’s worth bearing in mind we’ll be able to assess all this evening’s teamsheets before the deadline, with all eight matches getting underway at 7.45pm.

We’re supporting FiT throughout the competition and have an official Fantasy Football Scout League, with an iPad mini available to the winner. There’s also a VIP European Match Day Experience for two on offer for the overall winner of the Fantasy iTeam Champions League game.

Having published a Rule Guide and assessed some of the best budget options in the player price list, we cast an eye over Tuesday and Wednesday’s matches and offer four player tips for the next two evenings’ matches.

Tuesday

Juventus entertain Atletico Madrid later this evening knowing that a draw would be enough to steer them into the knockout stages. The Italians have been formidable in front of their own fans this term and, having won all six league encounters so far, will be confident of a victory. With 12 goals and five assists in all competitions, it’s fair to say that Carlos Tevez (9.3m) looks key to their chances of getting one over last year’s beaten finalists.

Liverpool have the opportunity to fire their stuttering season back into life at home to FC Basel tonight. A win for the Reds would help them overhaul their Swiss opponents and surely take second spot in Group B if Real Madrid – as expected – dispose of Ludogorets at the Bernabeu. Rested to the bench for the weekend draw against Sunderland, skipper Steven Gerrard has proven time and again he’s the man for the big occasion and, at a price of 6.9m, could be worth a flutter for the Anfield showdown.

Monaco’s fate is in their own hands this evening at home to Zenit St Petersburg. The Ligue 1 side know a point will be enough to advance as runners-up but, depending on results elsewhere, they could potentially finish as Group C winners if they earn a victory. Dimitar Berbatov has racked up three goals in the last two league matches and has been instrumental in steering his side to back-to-back league wins – with spot-kick duties also in hand, we’re backing the 7.0m-priced Bulgarian to make the difference.

A 1-0 win over Hoffenheim on Friday evening helped ease Dortmund’s domestic troubles and edged them out of the drop zone. Jurgen Klopp’s side may have struggled in the Bundesliga this season but have already triumphed four times in the Champions League ahead of a home encounter with Anderlecht. Another victory would ensure Dortmund finish top of Group D, and with Klopp keen to maintain momentum, the 8.9-priced Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be hoping to continue the form that has seen him produce more goals (four) and assists (three) than any team-mate in the league this term.

Wednesday

Barcelona welcome PSG to the Nou Camp in a shoot-out for top spot in Group F tomorrow night. The La Liga side need to grab a victory in order to clamber above Laurent Blanc’s side ahead of the knockout stage draw and they prepared for this one with an emphatic 5-1 derby win over Espanyol. Whilst a certain Argentine is sure to earn most of the attention, Luis Suarez (9.2m) notched his first goal for the club in Matchday 5 and could be one to consider for those looking to double up on Barca’s all-star attack.

Schalke roll up to Group D whipping boys Maribor knowing a win may yet take them through. If the German side triumph and Chelsea defeat Sporting Lisbon at the Bridge, they’ll clinch second spot behind Jose Mourinho’s men tomorrow. Luckily for the Bundesliga side, the 7.5m-priced Eric Choupo-Moting bagged a hat-trick on his travels at the weekend and looks in red-hot form ahead of the trip to Slovenia.

Rested for the weekend home encounter with Sassuolo, Francesco Totti will be fully refreshed for Roma’s crucial clash with Man City. Providing Bayern Munich see off CSKA Moscow in Germany, the winner of this one will clinch second place in Group E and, having dropped just two points at home in the league all season, Rudi Garcia’s side look the favourites here. Setting you back just 6.8m, Totti has already notched in the previous encounter between the two sides back in October and will be looking to get the better of Joe Hart once again.

Athletic Bilbao and BATE Borisov go head-to-head for third place in Group H tomorrow night. The La Liga club only need a draw to clinch a Europa League spot at their visitors’ expense, but with top scorer Aritz Aduriz sidelined, they’ll need playmaker Benat (4.6m) to continue the form that’s already provided a pair of assists in four starts over the group stages.

Fantasy Football Scout League

We’ve already set up an official Fantasy Football Scout league for you to join, with an iPad mini on offer to the winner – the league name is Fantasy Football Scout and the pin is 11155.

I can't believe people actually consider RvP as an option. I'm not even going to bother and speak about his hefty 12,5 price tag, I just have to express my disbelief on the fact that people think that he actually ''looked good'' in the past few games. Disregarding his ability to knick in 2 goals off of amateur defending, he looks so slow and incapable that he isn't even a shadow of himself in his glory days with Sir Alex. Don't get me wrong, I have great respect for him as a player and as fantasy beast, but he has really aged considerably in a period of only 2 years. The only thing keeping him from being a Chicharito option for the last 10 minutes is Falcao getting injured all the time, and Wilson still being in puberty. I rest my case.

Wrong in at the very least, the last point..he's LVG's favorite, he will play consistently. When Falcao is back, Mata will bow out.

Possibly not worth the price tag, but he can still hold up the ball with the best of them and still has the ability to display a couple of seconds of brilliance. Difference between good and great players is that you give them a half chance, and they can take advantage. Like others stated, his minutes are consistent and at ~3% ownership makes a massive differential.

Yeah, I know about LVG's connection with his Dutchmen, and I forgot to write that it's from my point of view. I just wanted to say that I'm shocked that RvP is now magically an Aguero replacement, yet just a few gameweeks ago the same people laughed how bad he was.

I agree if a player makes an improvement in his play, but I haven't seen that he improved from the start of the season. Maybe because United is playing so badly, and they look so poor up front that even this RvP looks like fresh air to the fans.

Having all of Aguero, Fabregas and Austin which will miss next match, and Costa + Janmaat who have a tough fixture and/or bad form have left me with quite a tough situation.
This would force me to play this team the upcoming gameweek.

    DDG
    Clyne-Wisdom-Cissokho-Janmaat-Jagielka
    Downing-Yaya-Oscar
    Costa- Aguero

    Frist bench: King

Janmaat, who faces Arsenal away. Oscar who only played 60 mins last game. Aguero who most likely wont play. King which might get 0 game time and Costa who have had a really bad form recently.

I have 2 free transfers and 0 mil in the bank. My original play was to ship away Costa for Lukaku/Rooney/Bony/Benteke, but transferring my only playable striker this gameweek seems pretty dumb.

I could hang on to both Fabregas and Aguero and hope that they will return next week, or trade one of them (probably Aguero if he is expected to be out more than 2 gameweeks). How does this look?

    A) Fabregas + Janmaat > Ramsey/Sterling/Eriksen + Clichy
Pros: Free up some fund, Improve my defence, get 4 starting midfielders. Can keep Aguero if he returns in 2 gameweeks.
Cons: Might want Fabregas once he returns. No other midfielder have delivered as constantly as Fabregas, Still have to play 541 with 1 striker that haven't delivered lately.
    B) Aguero + King > Bony/Benteke + Sterling/Eriksen
Pros: Can play 442 next week. Can keep Fabregas .
Cons: Want Aguero when he returns, still have Costa. Will be hard to do mayor transfers until next wildcard activates if the price difference between players in the team is low.

Would love some help with how to sort out the situation! 🙂

tl:dr Got Fabregas, Aguero, Austin and Costa which could need to be transferred away, how can I deal with the situation?

The text is 297 words, the average reading speed is 300 words per minute. Therefore, it should take the average person 59.4 seconds to read the text. The minimum wage in the US is 2,13 $ per hour which is the salary am willing to pay. The salary for reading 300 words (59,4 seconds) is therefore 0,035 $ ( not including tip). Give me a wink next time we meet and I will give you your salary! 🙂

            Tipping is usually around 20%, so 0,035 * 1,2 = 0,042 $, how about that 🙂 (Assuming I like your opinion)

OK my opinion is Aguero and fab out. yaya and someone in. I'd choose Sakho but this leaves a lot of cash. Your choice.

Don't sell Austin, and wait a week on Costa.

      B. with Bony due to his form and because Swansea have a very good home record. Bony along Sterling out of those two so you can have coverage in the ManUvsLiverpool game. A couple of other mids at that range that also come to mind, Ramsey and possibly even ADM or Silva if any of them end up being fit for this week. Tadic also has a nice fixture @ Burnley. Depends if you are looking for long term or for 2-3 week punts.

I have Hazard instead of Fabregas but if I was you I would hold on to Fab. No reason to get rid, he consistently delivers week in and week out.

If anything I would get rid of Oscar to Sanchez if you can afford with Aguero funds

I'd hold on to Janmaat, I rewatched the Chelsea game and he played really well. He is becoming more of a threat going forward and got the better of Hazard several times during the course of the game. Not many can say that.

      Good luck.

Average of 4.7ppg this season with only one double digit return. Not a case of people writing him off but at over 10mil some people want to see more possible end output. Also I would not say he is Captain material at the moment and a lot of people are looking for explosive options to replace Aguero. In the past I would say he was but at the moment I think his remit under LvG is more constrained.

Then he has Burnley at home. Surely if you've bought him it's worth considering keeping him for that. I'm in the same boat here.

I did but I don't really care. He has looked too poor supporting Soldado, I had anticipated Poch would play him as a lone striker, but alas.

Already did my FT to sack Sergio, but with near on nine mill in th ebank I may well smack him out on Friday night.

And that's with Austin, Chambers and Krul in there as well.

I mean it is saying something when you have three red flagged players and the one you really think you need to get rid of is fine to play, right?

If you already have Austin then I would probably take the hit to get rid of Kane. Now is a good time to do so.

Yeah could do. Either way he has revealed himself as a poor option and needs to go I think. Very disappointed he isn't playing as lone striker. Soldado is such rubbish.

But I mean a hit could pay off, but I think Austin is as good a bet as any of the other strikers available and I'd rather just not lose the points on it. Kane is at least fit - who knows if he gets something lucky out of the game at Swansea.

          Sakho, Benteke

Lukaku is probably a good option, but he burnt me so many times last season. QPR at home just strikes me as bearing all the hallmarks of a classic 2 pt troll

I'm not sure about the Sakho/Carroll love. Sunderland away isn't an easy fixture, then Chelsea and Arsenal straight after their nice fixture vs Leicester. I'm tempted by Benteke, but Villa as an attacking team just don't seem to be worth investing in.

      Meh wondering the same 😆

Hard to resist Dzeko if fit at 8.1m that's for sure. Rotation or not, he's shown that he can get returns regardless.

I might just go Lukaku for now, because I'm worried about Dzeko's fitness and rotation. Will be an easy swap if Dzeko starts firing.

Not a bad idea. I find it interesting that no one mentioned when Kun went down injured, Pele sent Dzeko straight out to warm up...but sent Pozo on instead. Maybe Dzeko is indeed ready but Pele is just managing his resources/damage limitation once he heard more info from the physio attending to Kun.

Yeah, I guess I'll just wait until after the game tomorrow, but these price changes are quite painful to ride out. I'm getting Yaya as part of the trade and he's going up tonight apparently 🙄

I've ignored price rises this season and I feel my rank has improved dramatically compared to previous seasons. Team value not as great, but I've had the time to consider transfers more carefully and more often than not, the transfers i end up doing at the end of the GW are different from the rash ones i would have done earlier.

Aye same tbh, my team value has been appalling for most of the season as a result though. It hasn't really affected me negatively though. Think I will just wait and see how Dzeko looks/if he plays tomorrow. Cheers

    Guzan
    Clyne Hutton Wisdom
    Sanchez Hazard Sigurdsson Downing
    Aguero* Costa Bony

    Elliot, Marney, Saylor Chambers

    2m in bank, 1 FT

Not keen on shifting any of my 4 mids to Yaya. So left with the following options

    A) Aguero > Dzeko, no hits and 6.3m to upgrade defence next week
    B) Aguero > Lukaku no hits
    C) Aguero > Benteke no hits
    D) Aguero > Sakho/Caroll, Marney > Yaya (-4), 1.2m to upgrade defence but benching headache every week

      A or C

For your team, I would say "A" as you don't have Yaya or Silva in the mix, and ManC bring home the goals.

I went with "C", but I went and took a dumb hit for Yaya too.

        • 12 Years

Not a bad shout with C but yea, don't want to end up taking an unnecessary hit. A would be the boring like for like swap...but perhaps we're overthinking this one because it's too obvious.

Tricky. issue for me is that with A -> C you are relying on 3/4 mid price attackers every week. The teams they play for aren't consistent enough.

I was reluctant to get YaYa, but just think City's fixtures + his penna duties swing it for me. His 4YCs are a pain, but potentially worth the risk.

Tbh, Dzeko is priced at the mid range purely cos of his rotation risk with Aguero leading the line. That dynamic has changed and I don't think he will be benched to let Jovetic lead the line. Quality wise, and points history wise, Dzeko is no mid price attacker if given the minutes.

Thanks. For a hit when I could possibly field a strong-ish 11 without a hit? Assuming Dzeko gets the minutes in CL that is. If he doesn't, then i'm afraid D is the only option 🙂

Don't go with RvP .. just because he scored 2 times against Southampton doesn't make him a good player worth 12.5 ! Rooney is far better option or extra midfielder and Di Maria ... better United options if you are looking for player from this team

Grrrrr why does Costa have to start tomorrow? That's lame. Would have brought him in today for Kun. Now I am tempted to wait and eat the 0.1.

Seems like the great premier league strikers are injury prone: RvP, Aguero, Sturridge, Falcao, etc.

Dont label Falcao as a great premier league striker. Please. His injuries have nothing to do with the premier league, they knew they brought a crock when they got him.

I do, but i dont agree. His actual performances in the bpl have been very poor. His record before joining is immense. Dont know if that makes him one of the best in the league though, guess thats a matter of how you view things.

He's hardly had a chance to prove if he's good or bad yet. Nobody really knows. I'm basing it off reputation purely.

You could argue that, but for me hes not even shown moments of the class he used to have. Which is what my initial concerns were, that hed struggle to ever come back to his original level of fitness and thereby his level of play.

Surely it does not matter whether you get 10 points from a midfielder and 7 from a striker rather than 7 from a striker and 10 from a midfielder? Just maximise points regardless of position? You don't require a minimum score from the forward line etc.

The problem here though is if RVP/Costa/Rooney start banging in the goals and become almost essential, he's gonna find it tough to get them in without a massive downgrade somewhere.
