The final match of Gameweek 16 sees Everton look for a first win in four attempts this evening, as QPR roll up to Goodison. Roberto Martinez’ men have failed to replicate last term’s heroics so far and, like their visitors, have triumphed in only four of the first 15 rounds of fixtures.

The home side will be buoyed by their opponents’ woeful away form, though. Harry Redknapp’s side have lost every match outside of Loftus Road so far and with top scorer Charlie Austin serving a one-match suspension tonight, the R’s will be reliant on in-form midfielder Leroy Fer to bag a third goal in four appearances. The R’s centre-half Steven Caulker misses out altogether tonight, as Richard Dunne is partnered by Nedum Onouha in the heart of the back-four.

For the Toffees, Romelu Lukaku carries the major goal threat. The big Belgian has scored in each of his last four home starts and with the R’s conceding more than two goals per away match, he’ll fancy his chances of extending that streak. Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman’s raiding runs from full-back should also play a prominent part in Everton’s attacks, whilst Kevin Mirallas’ goal and assist in the last three suggests he’s finding his form just in time for this one. Elsewhere for the hosts, Steven Naismith has shrugged off a hamstring injury and returns to the starting XI.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

The MNF analysis of DDG got me thinking...

Mignolet seems to be getting exactly the same criticism that DDG got 3 years ago (ie. can't catch a cross to save his life, and even getting benched by Fergie), but he is a rather good shot-stopper.

Judging by how vast DDG's improvement has been, is it unreasonable to think that Mignolet could show big improvements too? I think there's a very good GK in there waiting to blossom with the right technical coaching.

Yeah, and brad jones had a very poor game. I could see Mignolet coming back in.

I can't see it personally, never rated him and played in the league long enough to realise he is not good enough

People were saying the same thing about DDG though... "can never be a big game GK"... "will never improve his aerial ability" ...etc

Mignolet was a class act for Sunderland. He is playing behind a very poor defence with no shield in front of them

It's such a vague relationship you've drawn there, not to mention DDG was getting settled to the English game, migs has been here for a few years. Always been a 6.5/10 keeper.

No doubt this benching from BR`s side is a stunt to try and further motivate Migs to pick up the slack. That said hes not the kind of keeper youd want in a real top side, if thats what we want to become. Hes too vulnerable and has too many weaknesses and his only real strength is his shot stopping, which to be fair is quite good.

De Gea has been an unbelievable shot stopper throughout his career, he just had a couple of areas which needed ironing out when he first moved to England - now he's adjusted and showing his ability. Mignolet has always been a decent Premier League keeper, now in a bad run of form. No comparison.

I think you're being a tad too harsh. Mignolet's shot stopping is very, very good. Its the rest of his game thats terrible, but could improve.

He was never that talented imo. Never possessed the potential of DDG and the like, at best he would become a good keeper by BPL standards.

Maybe so, but that wouldnt make him any better of a goalie now would it. Migs at his best would for me be a 7/10 gk. For instance Reina at his best would be a 9/10 for me.

I'm not sure I am. He pulls off some good saves, which he showed off in a poor Sunderland team that led to Liverpool into buying him. Didn't really understand that move at the time though, and I'm not sure his level has actually dipped from last season, he's just made a couple of individual errors.

Nah, DDG's positives and negative points were always very evident and had been well highlighted by the United scouts before he arrived. They were prepared for a talented work in progress and that's exactly what they got.

Not only does Mignolet not have DDG's talent but I think he was expected to bed in an awful lot quicker than a skinny kid who had just moved to a new country. That difference in expectations and potential pay off is important.

Still, Mignolet is better than he's shown for Liverpool.so far at least.

    Worries on your team?
For me: Yaya Toure, Sigurdsson, Sakho and Diego Costa

And who are you worried about NOT owning?
For me: RvP, Bony, Eriksen, Kane and Fabregas

Mata, Cazorla, Bolasie and Giroud are emerging as decent differentials. Anyone I'm missing?
