The new injuries were kept to a relative minimum over this weekend’s nine matches. Liverpool, Stoke and Swansea all have worries over their skippers, whilst Hull’s packed treatment room welcomed further additions as the problems build for Steve Bruce.

Chelsea
Didier Drogba missed Saturday’s hammering of Swansea due to illness, Jose Mourinho has revealed. The Blues boss also explained that, although Thibaut Courtois’ finger injury is improving, the Belgian – who was handed bench-warming duties as Petr Cech took his place between the posts – is still hampered with the problem:

“It is better, much better but if you have an injury in your finger – even if you are ready to play – you don’t train the same way. During the week you protect the injury you have so I had no doubts in making the choice. I was happy with Petr’s performance, he’s confident and at the top of his potential.”

Hull
Robbie Brady missed the Tigers’ 3-0 defeat to West Ham yesterday due to illness. Steve Bruce’s mounting injury worries continued at the weekend after James Chester and Alex Bruce were forced off at Upton Park – post match, the Hull manager confirmed both defenders are set for a period on the sidelines, with the former set for surgery on a dislocated shoulder:

”Chester’s out at least two to three months, I’d say with an operation. Alex is out for at least a month with a thigh muscle (pulled). It’s deeply frustrating.”

Liverpool
Captain Steven Gerrard missed out at Villa Park with ongoing hamstring problems which forced him off at half-time at Sunderland last weekend. Mario Balotelli also skipped the 2-0 win due to illness.

Man United
Jonny Evans was forced off during Saturday’s Loftus Road win. The centre-back’s withdrawal saw Louis van Gaal move from 3-4-1-2 to 4-4-2, with replacement James Wilson handed a role up front.

Newcastle
Paul Dummett was subbed with a hamstring injury during the Magpies’ 2-1 home loss to Southampton on Saturday evening, according to the local press.

QPR
Richard Dunne was subbed off at the break during the weekend clash against United with a groin injury but reports indicate the issue is a minor one.

Stoke
The Potters skipper Ryan Shawcross missed Saturday’s win at Leicester after failing a fitness test on a groin problem sustained in training.

Swansea
Wayne Routledge was forced off with an Achilles injury during the weekend home mauling by Chelsea. Garry Monk also has worries over skipper Ashley Williams – despite playing the 90 minutes, the centre-half left the stadium with his arm in a sling after playing with a shoulder injury. Leon Britton missed out altogether as he battles an ongoing groin problem.

West Ham
Sam Allardyce is counting the cost of yesterday’s win over Hull after two of his central defenders – James Tomkins and James Collins – were forced off in the 3-0 victory. The Hammers boss rolled out an injury update after the match:

“Ginge felt his back, so Reidy came on, then Mark Noble did 120 minutes on Tuesday and looked tired so Morgan came on, gave us fresh legs, scored a great goal and laid chances on for other people. Mark’s tired legs wouldn’t have got him into those positions. Then Carlton was going to come on but Tonks felt his hamstring tighten up, so we put Joey on.”

Just read this on a website not a million mile's away from here. Made me laugh

Paul Lambert holds the following records for a Villa team:

    * Highest number of home defeats in a season (9)
    * Most minutes without scoring
    * Biggest ever away defeat (8-0)
    * Most goals conceded without reply (16)
    * Joint record for the longest run without a clean sheet (16)
    * Most consecutive home games without a goal (4)
    * 2nd lowest ever lowest points tally since 3 points for a win introduced (38)

    We have also:
    * Scored more than once just 4 times in the last 36 games.
    * Not scored 3 or more goals in a game in 7 months
    * Been beaten over two legs by a League 2 side. Two legs!
    * Exited a cup to to Millwall, Sheffield United & Leyton Orient (and soon Bournemouth)
    * Scored 33 goals in the whole of 2014/15. 33 goals were scored in the Premier League on the first day of the 2014/15 season.
    * A win ratio of 29% under him
    * Won twice at home so far this season.

may actually go Moses over Puncheon.. nailed on for the rest of the season(no Bolasie etc coming back to muddy the waters) and saves a tidy 0.3 as a cheap attacker

Having fun with a WC draft - too punty you feel?

    Forster | Myhill
    Cahill | Jones | Bellerin | PVA | Wisdom
    Hazard | Sanchez | Fabregas | Puncheon | Boyd
    Aguero | Kane | Giroud

It's mainly going without Costa that caused this draft. I'm struggling to fit him in without huge sacrifices elsewhere. Currently have a SV on Costa of 10.8, hence I don't want to ditch him, but looks like I might have to.

Forster + Jones could easily be Pantilimon + Clyne + 0.4 if need be.

To be honest, you're all correct - not proper punts, but getting Costa in simply ruins the rest of the team, so I've tried tinkering with Giroud.

    Morning all! Opinions appreciated:

    A) Ayoze + Downing
    B) Austin + Boyd

Under A, the two options would be rotated based on fixture etc., whilst on B Austin would be played almost every week.

    What do you reckon? Cheers!

Tempted by a semi punty wildcard team built around two in form teams with great fixtures: Arsenal and Palace. What do you think? I have my other WC in hand in case it doesnt work out.

    Panti Heaton
    Terry Koscielny Clyne PVA Wisdom
    Hazard Sanchez Cazorla Puncheon Marney

                        that is fair point

Lloris is too good for that mess of a defence

Then imagine that they actually, to my knowledge, stood a fair chance to sign him back when Tottenham bought him. Instead, they chose to still go with Szcezcny. Fortunately for Arsenal fans his days seem to be over now.

They don't have "terrible, terrible" fixtures, even if they do not have the best ones. Also, it depends largely on the time frame. For the next 10, their fixtures are amongst the best.

I really have to check what your ticker says and _why_. 🙂

Top 1k since GW10, so general squad and team picks holding up ok........

However........eight out of the last twelve weeks have yielded 32 captain points when there was potential to earn 204!!!

That's 86 points that slipped by on the toss of a coin, 108 over the full twelve weeks.......

Anybody else finding choosing a captain THE worst component of FPL?

    Good to WC this GW?

    - Bad fixtures for my defence this week

    - And Costa/Aguero probably won't score much

    - 2 weeks to thinker

    - Will within this period know about which teams will have a blank/DGW

    - Most of the transfer window will be done

    Forster, Gilks
    Zabaleta, Terry, Naylor, Wasi, Hutton
    Silva, Sanchez, Hazard, Boyd, Albrighton
    Costa, Aguero, Kane

Villa are a defensive side, but I'm not sure about going with just Guzan given its Arsenal and Chelsea next - the short term does matter. Prefer Cazorla to Sterling, but otherwise you're solid.

Carzola for Sterling crossed my mind. Would give 3 ARS though. Not sold on Villa keepers, but both for 8.5 purchase price. JWP for Punch would free up keeper funds.
