The FA have this evening confirmed that Diego Costa has been charged with violent conduct as a result of his behavior during last night’s cup semi-final win over Liverpool. Chelsea’s summer signing was involved in a couple of stamping altercations, first with Emre Can and then later with Martin Skrtel, but both incidents were missed by the match officials at the time.

Upon revision, the referee has conceded that Costa would have received his marching orders had he witnessed the Can flashpoint, though the FA have confirmed they will not pursue the Skrtel incident. The player has until 6pm tomorrow evening to appeal the decision and, if found guilty, he’s set to serve a three-match ban. Comparisons have been made to a ban that Mario Balotelli received in 2012 when a four-match suspension was dished out for a similar incident. This, however, was due to the striker already seeing red earlier that season for City at Liverpool.

A potential three-match ban would see Costa miss Saturday evening’s vital home encounter against City – a match which could take Jose Mourinho’s men eight points clear of the defending champions at the summit. He would also sit out the following two league matches against Villa and Everton before returning to contention in time for the Gameweek 26 plum home clash against Burnley.

It’s fair to say that a possible ban would have massive repercussions right across the Fantasy games, all the more so in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) where, with an ownership in excess of 60%, Costa is the most popular player. In a week that has also seen Gylfi Sigurdsson banned for a trio of league outings, an unfavourable outcome may persuade many to hit the winter Wildcard button and restructure.

As mentioned in this morning’s Scout Notes, though, Chelsea could yet have a double Gameweek 28 if Leicester – their previously scheduled opponents for Gameweek 27 – are knocked out of the FA Cup by Villa midway through next month. This would free up both clubs for the weekend of March 7-8, as the Blues are also no longer in the latter competition after their shock home loss to Bradford.

With Sergio Aguero back to full fitness and Daniel Sturridge expected to return for Liverpool this weekend, our premium-priced alternatives are on the rise, whilst over at the Bridge, Didier Drogba and Loic Remy are set to do battle for the role of lone striker in Jose Mourinho’s 4-2-3-1.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

The usual. Non-stop running and driving runs, had eight shots in the end I think. Nice pass for the assist on Eriksen's second goal.

I don't mind losing Costa on my WC next week anyway.

He's a dirty **** and a red card waiting to happen. Considering he stamped on him twice he should get 4 games really.

Kane or Austin as the third striker?

Money isn't an issue, Kane is cheaper and on better form in the last couple games however Austin has easier upcoming fixtures initially. One of my nearest rivals has Austin, the other has Kane.

Missed the game but it was 2-1 Sheffield at one point. If Eriksen didn't score a second it would of went to extra time, correct? If it remained 2-1 after that would Spurs have gone through?

Yes and yes, Spurs would've gone through on away goals after ET.

May end up going with Kane and Eriksen on WC then switching one out once better options present themselves.

      Yes, I believe we do.

          There isn't a midweek in GW27.

It only lasts 3 days, with GW28 starting on the following Tuesday evening.

Could someone break down the coming blank GWs for me?

    1. Ruth_NZ
      • 10 Years
      10 years, 10 months ago

Chelsea, QPR, Spurs and Leicester all blank in GW 27.

The Leicester-Chelsea game won't be re-scheduled yet as Leicester are still in the FA Cup. If Leicester lose to Villa (a) in the next round the most likely date for the re-scheduled game would be 7th March meaning a DGW for Chelsea and Leicester in GW 28.

The QPR-Spurs game could conceivably be brought forward to 14th Feb meaning a DGW for those two in GW 25. But more likely is 7th March for that as well putting the DGW in GW 28.

OK chaps, here's me "Post-Costa" WC - new players in CAPS.

    PANTS/Foster
    JONES/BAIRD/BERTRAND/BELLERIN/Terry
    ADM/WALTERS/Sanchez/Hazard/Boyd
    KUN/GIROUD/Kane

    0.2 itb.

Bellerin is an ok punt because 1) I think he'll play and clinch the position 2) He won't even start for me most of the time with my Jones/Terry/Berty combo so if he doesn't win right back, he's easily shipped out later. I also don't like the other defenders in this price range (4.6 or lower).

Walters should definitely be the main beneficiary of Bojan's injury and he's produced in the past when put on display. I'm not convinced by the likes of Puncheon, Chadli (plus, I have Kane - dont want the double up) and the others in this bracket. I like Elia, but everyone seems to think Mane will take his place upon return.

Giroud is the perfect Costa replacement for me imo.

Just got back from blades spurs match-cracking fun -would have been happier if blades had won.
Eriksen looked on top form;lamela making mischief and a couple of shots on target;kane slippery but cast a frustrated figure.
Defence ,especially dier looked shaky-lots of angry words from vorm and given back to him.
Eriksen moves into my wildcard focus

Friends would appreciate your thoughts on the following :

Already have Sanchez and bought in Santi for Silva earlier in the week. Have Downing as first sub but thinking of taking a HIT for Costa for a one week punt as I'm WC next week. Here are my options, would be grateful for your opinions..

    A. Giroud Vs Avl
    B. Falcao Vs Lie
    C. Rooney Vs Lie
    D. Kun Vs Chelsea

Have enough money for all the above transfers, have been pondering the above for the whole night ,any/all opinions would be appreciated ??

I've been reluctant to pull the wc early but as I'm still in the cup and with Costa morphing into a 2014 Suarez, I've given in.

    Panti Foster
    Bertrand Kos Jones PVA Wisdom
    Hazard Silva ADM Walters Sanchez
    Aguero Gioud Kane

    Temted on
    A) downgrading silva to either Cazola/oscar and upgrade Jones or
    B) downgrade Silva and Jones and tf Kane for Baird, Punchen Falcao
