The final day of the winter transfer window was largely uneventful, with only Chelsea prepared to spend big to bolster their title bid. Here’s a quick rundown on the main deals that went through by 11pm, with Scout Reports and Moving Target features to follow over the next few days.

Juan Cuadrado – Fiorentina to Chelsea
With Andre Schurrle leaving for Wolfsburg earlier in the day, Jose Mourinho boosted his options in the final third by snapping up the Colombian from Fiorentina as Mo Salah headed out to the Serie A side on loan. Versatile enough to play in any of the three attacking midfield slots, Cuadrado’s best hopes of barging into the Blues’ first XI could be on the right flank at the expense of Willian, who has managed just a single goal and assist in 22 league appearances. Cuadrado arrives on the back of four goals and as many assists in Serie A this season but whilst he may manage to get past Willian on the right, he faces a tougher challenge to oust Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas and Oscar in our Fantasy affections. Coming in at 8.5, he’s slightly more expensive than Oscar (8.4) ahead of showdowns against Villa, Everton and Burnley in the next three.

Robert Huth – Stoke to Leicester
Having played just four minutes for Stoke this season, it’s fair to say that a loan move to the King Power Stadium should boost the German’s chances of greater pitch time. The Foxes have been far from resilient so far and managed just four clean sheets – given that skipper Wes Morgan has played all but one league match, there’s a fear that the 4.7-priced Huth’s arrival could threaten Marcin Wasilewski’s run of 14 straight starts and potentially deprive us of a 4.0-priced starter in our 15-man squads. Banned for Gameweek 24, Huth then faces three difficult road trips (ars, eve, mci) with a blank Gameweek 27 prior to his visit to the Etihad. With three goals and an assist to his name, though, Jeffrey Schlupp’s out of position potential on the left flank has already served up three goals and the Ghanaian, at 4.5, is the most appealing option here.

Wilfried Zaha and Lee Chung-yong – Man United and Bolton to Crystal Palace
Zaha’s loan deal at Selhurst Park was made permanent by Alan Pardew after he failed to convince at United, whilst Lee joins in a deal that sees Barry Bannan move to the Reebok on loan. Despite praising Zaha’s recent loan displays, the new Eagles boss has started him in just one of his first three Gameweeks in charge and turned to the 5.1-priced midfielder as an impact sub late on in matches. Although Yannick Bolasie could potentially still be out of the picture for two more league outings, Pardew also has Dwight Gayle and Jason Puncheon offering alternatives out wide, suggesting Zaha and Lee face a struggle to nail down a spot in the XI. For now, Puncheon’s two goals and an assist in three under Pardew has made the biggest impression. Over 85,000 snapped him up last week ahead of upcoming clashes with Leicester, Newcastle, West Ham and QPR in the next six, though the Eagles’ numerous options out wide clearly offer Pardew the option to chop and change.

Filip Duricic – Benfica to Southampton
Having sold Jack Cork to Swansea on Friday, Ronald Koeman bolstered his central midfield options by acquiring the Serbian on loan from Benfica until the end of the season. An attacking midfielder, Duricic has fallen out of favour at his parent club and failed to impress at a loan stint with Mainz 05 earlier this season, with no goals or assists over 11 appearances. His arrival merely adds to Koeman’s options out wide, though, and with Dusan Tadic, Sadio Mane and Eljero Elia all vying for the spots on the flanks, Duricic faces a tough task to break into the Saints’ XI.

Aaron Lennon – Tottenham to Everton
Roberto Martinez bolstered his attacking options by snapping up the Tottenham winger on loan until the end of the season. A peripheral figure at the Lane, Lennon has played just eight minutes from Gameweek 15 onwards and he’ll be hoping a move to Goodison can reignite his flagging career. At 6.2, he’s cheaper than Kevin Mirallas and Ross Barkley, but with the likes of Aiden McGeady and Steven Naismith also offering Roberto Martinez options on the right, it remains to be seen whether he can nail down a regular role in his new surrounds.

Davide Santon – Newcastle to Inter Milan
The Italian’s loan return to his native country lessens the competition at left-back for Newcastle under John Carver. Santon has failed to break into the Magpies’ XI since recovering from injury and the new man in charge has instead turned to Massadio Haidara in the last two matches. At just 4.1, Haidara strengthened his case for a regular role by serving up an assist in the weekend win at Hull, serving up an 11-point return in the process. Next up, it’s Stoke, Palace and Villa in the following four.

    Appears this wasn't posted earlier..

"Asked at his press conference if Sanchez was close to making the game, Wenger said, reported by Arsenal.com: 'He was not very close today.'"

    http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2015/02/01/arsene-wengers-injury-update-on-alexis-sanchez-impact-for-totten/

..still very early, but honestly Wenger would never forgive himself for breaking Sanchez for a match Arsenal is capable of winning without him (even if it's a derby) ahead of the CL knockouts

    Thinking of this :

    Cresswell to Terry
    and Fab to Caz/Silva , for -4?

    What do you think?

    Team is :

    Panti
    Cresswell -Clyne - Wisdom
    Sanchez - Fab - Hazard - Elia
    Kun - Kane - Austin

I really wish Bertrand hadn't got himself sent off. I'm now going to have to lose 0.5 on him which is a pain. Anyone at all keeping? My likely plan of action at present is Clyne for now and then swap to Alderweireld once he's back. With Toby at such a low price, keeping money in Bertrand doesn't seem as much of a big deal.

I'm making another transfer this week (Downing -> Sterling) so I'll be keeping just for this week, and then getting rid next week to Bellerin (assuming he starts at home to Leicester).

Not sure if it has been posted here yet, but here is Ben Dinerry's tweet about Alexis Sanchez's injury. He is usually pretty spot on with this stuff:

:I was specifically told to record Alexis Sanchez injury as "short-term" with "no return date" although he is "close" for Saturdays' NLD #AFC"

Not a fan of City's defence, I'd not have any of them tbh - get Foster and Clyne in. Maybe even Moreno or Sakho since Liverpool's defence is improving. Would also want to find room in the midfield for Puncheon.

is playing 3 defenders who are in the same game insane ? that's what it seems for gw27 (WBA vs Soton) if I get Fonte and double up with Clyne .

Not the most ridiculous thing - both are good defences so a 0-0 is not out of the question. It's a case of hedging your bets really - with both teams in there it's more likely at least one of them will get a clean sheet. Personally I don't bother trying to predict the score, I just pick the defenders who have the best chance of points based on previous performances and hope for the best. If that means three players in one game then so be it.

Anyone considering Liverpool defenders? Three clean sheets in a row. Sakho and Moreno look decent value at 5.2 and 5.1 respectively - Moreno is playing wing-back and Sakho hoovers up the baps.

Its good for defender attacking stats, but rank him alongside midfielders and its barely a blip on the radar. And it would need to be outstanding to persuade me to buy a defender with those fixtures.

technically if you start making your transfers now without activating WC they go into the pile and could potentially help NTI and maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe (probably not) push a transfer over the edge for a price rise

then on the last day make your transfers and activate WC

well in an ideal world everyone does it and we all enjoy the price inceases 😉

but yes the difference is negligible, although real

but i will still get price rises...for example if i were to activate now and confirmed team....if bllerin went up by 0.1 then i would get that rise

yeah, I'm saying that you could be the person to transfer him in and push up over the edge to rise by 0.1

Yes all transfers upon confirmation are final regardless of WC. If you sell Kane whom you bought for 4.8, you cannot buy him back for 4.8.

so should i activate this now? 0.0ITB

                  Panti, Krul

                  Wisdom, PVA, Bellerin, Terry, Clyne

                  Cazorla, Sterling, Silva, Walters, Hazard

                  Aguero, Giroud, Kane

or should i be holding out for sanchez

I think the point i am trying to make is that if i activate now and make this team and then i sudddenly learn that i can play sanchez and want to get him in it would be very difficult

The decision when to activate WC and when to sell/buy Alexis are independent and separate.

Yes, you have to be 1/100,000 to push it over the edge. Methinks just activate ASAP. Do not risk system gremlins and failing to activate last minute and suffer a -32.

tangible and no harm done. if the FPL site is legitimately down all of the day up until and through the lock they would do something on their end.

Southampton defenders. Have Liverpool, West Ham and Chelsea in the next six. I'll be surprised if they can get three clean sheets over that period.

Finding midfield the hardest with my WC - I think Sanchez and Hazard are shoe ins if fit, so that leaves 3 spots from this lot (I'm going 3-5-2)....which trio would you go for?

      A) Silva - great fixtures, decent form and likely to be playing in the hole
      B) Santi - good fixtures, great form, in the hole and on pens
      C) Sterling - tricky fixtures, but playing OOP and a big goal threat. Sturridge back should help
      D) Eriksen - great form but tricky fixtures (incl a blank) loom
      E) ADM - good fixtures, playing in the hole and a big goal threat, but expensy
      F) Oscar - great fixtures, playing in the hole, good form, but possible rotation issues

Thanks all - am currently on Silva, Santi & Oscar with a view of doing Oscar -> ADM for the blank and then one of the 5 -> Eriksen for the DGW.

If LIV's fixtures weren't so tricky I'd be getting Sterling

My team: 3.6 in the bank

      Forster Hamer
      Clichy Clyne Terry Wisdom Wasilieski
Hazard, Cazorla, Di Maria, Chadli, Boyd
      Aguero, Kane, Austin

am thinking Chadli to Silva is most logical and makes the most sense this week. rarely ask for opinions on my full squad input would be appreciated..

Chelsea. Villa have scored 11 goals in the Premier League this season.

7+ fewer than ANYONE else in the top 4 divisions of English football (92 clubs).

The trouble with chasing double risers on WC is that they double rise because everyone wants them. Including myself
