With his side having failed to score in 11 of their last 15 Premier League matches, Hull boss Steve Bruce was desperate to add some firepower in the January transfer window. Just minutes before the transfer deadline, the Tigers were able to secure the signing of Lokomotiv Moscow striker Dame N’Doye for a reported fee of £3m.

The 29-year-old Senegal international arrives at the KC on a two-and-a-half-year deal and his new manager is clearly delighted with the last-minute acquisition:

“He will undoubtedly strengthen our squad and add a significant goal threat. You don’t see much of the Russian league but I’ve seen Senegal play a few times. He’s been a member of their team for the last couple of years and for years I’ve taken notice of that Senegal team. I think a lot of managers have taken notice of the African teams. Out of all the players who have been imported, the African players have made a huge success of it. Physically, they have all the attributes to play in the Premier League. I’m delighted to have completed the signing of Dame and I’m looking forward to seeing him in action for us.”

THE HISTORY

Born in Thies, Senegal, N’Doye began his career in his homeland for Jeanne d’Arc in 2003, where he played for three seasons before signing for Qatari side Al-Sadd. A year later he moved to Portuguese team Academica de Coimbra, where he made 25 appearances, scoring four goals.

In the 2007/08 season, N’Doye plied his trade for Greek side Panathinaikos, netting three times in 23 appearances. The striker was then on the move again, scoring seven goals in 15 matches for OFI Crete before signing with Danish side FC Copenhagen in January 2009. The powerful forward enjoyed his most prolific spell in Denmark, scoring 82 goals in 150 appearances in all competitions. During the 2010/11 season, N’Doye scored twice in the Champions League group stage to help Copenhagen become the first Danish side to qualify for the last 16, where they were subsequently knocked out by Chelsea.

In the summer of 2012, N’Doye joined Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow, where he settled quickly, scoring seven goals in the 2012/13 season. During his time is Russia, he scored 27 goals in 68 appearances.

N’Doye made his debut for Senegal in a friendly against Gabon in November 2010 and has clocked up 34 caps for his country, scoring nine goals. He featured in all three of Senegal’s matches in this year’s Africa Cup of Nations, but failed to find the back of the net.

THE PROSPECTS

Having scoured the transfer market for a striker, Bruce will no doubt be relieved to have brought N’Doye to the club. Club record signing Abel Hernandez has found it hard to adjust to English football and after scoring three times in his first five appearances, has failed to net since Gameweek 8. Fellow forward Nikica Jelavic has found the net six times, though like Hernandez, has struggled in recent months and scored just twice since Gameweek 7.

Given that Hull have only notched 21 times – the second-worst record in the top flight – it’s clear that Bruce needs to quickly address his side’s toils in the final third. The addition of N’Doye, who is known for his aerial ability, should allow Bruce to roll out a two-man frontline on a more regular basis, either in a 4-4-2 or 3-5-2, with injuries all too often blighting his plans – the Hull manager has only been able to start Jelavic and Hernandez up front together on seven occasions.

Handed a sub appearance at the Etihad last Saturday, N’Doye could be in line to start tomorrow’s crucial home clash against Villa as Bruce looks to build on that morale-boosting draw at City. Indeed, that showdown with Paul Lambert’s side sparks the start of a superb run over the upcoming five (AVL, QPR, sto, SUN, lei), which could well define Hull’s season.

Coming in at 5.5 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, N’Doye could become an interesting prospect if he can hit the ground running and take advantage of that schedule. Certainly, there are plenty of strong options in the budget forward bracket, with Harry Kane becoming a “must have” in most people’s 15-man squads and Jermain Defoe also staking a claim, but with Danny Ings’ fixtures taking a turn for the worse and Charlie Austin injured, N’Doye may be an outside bet as a cut-price alternative in our short-term plans.

Actually warming to this Aguero captain idea as a differential.

On another day could have had 16 captain 32 points

No differential for differential's sake. Need to captain one of 15 players with form AND fixtures. Why go for fixtures without form like Aguero and Giroud?

Hazard aka Bridge Bully has form and fixtures.

Dislike. If you want a differential cap, then choose a CHE player, Haz or Oscar, a team at home and a player with some form.

Thanks Kurtinho. Think Sturridge and Ibe are nailed on then? Ibe in the hole would be an amazing differential....he looked lively last week

Wait for the lineups to be announced as the rumours could be false. Ibe at 4.4 could be amazing but he won't get consistent gametime.

Who would you prefer for the next 3?

    A) Silva (sto, NEW, liv)

    B) ADM (BUR, swa, SUN)

Have Clichy and Aguero from the Manchester teams

In general I agree, but BUR in particular are very poor at the back, so I think even MUN will score 2-3 goals in this game.

Fair point, could be a coin flip if Silva is forced out wide again though. Go for ADM if you think he'll do well, imo. Sometimes pointless to overthink so just go with your gut 🙂

I don't like the idea of creating a second account and hiding behind it but so it is. Hopefully it will be a mistake acknowledged and things can move forward as they once were. Nah. I gave him a chance earlier in the season. I had serious suspicions that it wasn't a first season FPLer anyway. But I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Now it's just pathetic, like I said.

I'm on my first season just in case you are wondering. The only proof I have is to look at my first 3 GWs in which I practically just hit the auto fill button for the first GW, then went on to take -16 point hit GW2, only to wildcard the week after that, GW3, and end up with Hart/Courtois as my keepers .

          😆 at me

Agreed here, I know where you're coming from. But I can see why Rick did this as he has some valid opinions, and posting on his Rick account everything was dismissed as heresy come the end of his time here. It was when he gave his opinion on real-life topics that really made him lose appeal here, but generally he was always a helpful poster when it came to FPL.

Albeit yes, the way he did it was odd and unnecessary, I understand why you're upset with this. Like Walsh said, let by-gones be by-gones eh?

Are FPLers jumping the gun in bringing Sanchez back in to their squads - given that he's no certainty to start? With the Gunners line-up due before the GW deadline - surely it'll be more prudent to wait to make the call?

Long term mate. He is a lock for GW26 regardless. The decision when to bring him back is a question timing and avoiding the rise. Unfortunately I cannot monitor line-ups tomorrow.

Save but be open minded and prepared for Arsenal team news, for instance if Sanchez and Cazorla both on bench then think about Cazorla to Walcott

Down the line would start thinking about how to get the funds for Perez to Defoe

Can't afford Santi -> Wally unforts, but would likely get Sterling/Mane instead.

The 3-5-2 was a short term punt up to GW27 - will likely downgrade Oscar for the blank and get Costa for the DGW. Defoe looks good value also

my plans for the 45mins between arsenal line up and deadline. its good to be prepared!

currently own sanchez and giroud, have 2ft's

scenario 1 - no sanchez, giroud and walcott start - bench sanchez, silva>walcott, captain hazard
scenario 2 - sanchez, giroud, walcott all start - silva>walcott, captain sanchez, go triple ars attk
scenario 3 - sanchez, walcott start, giroud benched - silva>walcott, giroud>defoe, captain sanchez
scenario 4 - sanchez, giroud start, walcott benched - shaw>bellerin, captain sanchez
      scenario 5 - sanchez giroud benched, walcott start - silva>walcott giroud>defoe shaw>bellerin (-4)
scenario 6 - sanchez walcott benched, giroud start - shaw>bellerin, captain hazard
scenario 7 - none of them start - PANIC STATIONS!

the perfect scenario for me is 3 as i want a differential on my runaway ML rival who has giroud, he also doesn't own sanchez and wont get due to poor TV.

you've got this locked down. the planning should come off... as long as arsenal wins.

In Leicester's last 6 away matches, only West Ham have blanked them. Granted, they lost 4 of those, and this is Arsenal... but bellerin may not be a sure CS

I admire your planning and feel your pain you've gone through debating these different scenarios, your safe you have it all planned, in case of scenario 7, do Giroud > Defoe

DO NOT captain Sanchez. Never punt on a car just back from the workshop! Form is unknown.

One does not simply choose to play/not play FPL, FPL chooses to play you.

        Welcome back Rickardinho.

So I have to work tomorrow morning during the time that lineups will be coming out, but can surely pop away to get access for a few minutes when I need to. Just need to know what time to expect the lineups for the Arsenal match so that I don't eff up my captain choice. (Worse than I usually do, at least)

What time in England? I can figure out the math. 🙂

        Thanks in advance

(not my first season, even though that is indeed a newbie question that I just asked....)

            Perfect, Thanks!
Us DZ folk are perpetually plagued by the time zones. In my mind, all of the early matches kick off at like 0530, when actually it's just me rolling over in bed and grabbing the iPad and opening up the game on the NBC Sports Live app

Gotta wait for the lineups, but I'd say yes considering his form. I think Ramsey or Caz will get dropped in the middle of the park.

Do I hold and save a FT even without Sanchez? I'd need to take a hit to get him in...

        Pants
        Pva, Bellerin, Clyne, Ivanovic
        Caz, Haz, Silva
        Kane, Kun, Giroud (c)

        Krul, Sterling, Wanyama, Wisdom
        1.3 ITB

        1. PVA (QPR)
        2. Terry (EVE)
        3. Fonte (WHU)

I have Panti in goal. Thanks fellas.

Sold Sanchez at 11.4 for Cazorla. Got back 11.0. Caz rose from 8.3 to 8.6.

When I swap back Sanchez for 11.2 I'll gain 0.1 from Caz and another 0.1 when Sanchez rises back to 11.4.

Net result = no TV loss and I benefited from upgrading Caz and Sterling for 2 weeks.

Evening. Looking at people's lineups, I have the feeling I am one of the few playing a 3-5-2. I shifted on my wild card through gw27. Anyone else on 3-5-2 now?

          • 12 Years
          10 years, 10 months ago

          nope, Kane + Defoe/Giroud facilitates a v. strong 343

Agree, with Kane and Giroud you can have a really strong midfield 4

I was on 3-5-2, but the Sanchez injury gave me excess cash so it's effectively become a 3-4-3 with a strong fifth mid.

Bojan was a tough one. That lineup should be good during gw27.

Nope. Just from experience of other 3-5-2s backfiring spectacularly.
