Our members articles analysing last season are completed today with a review of West Ham’s performances. The Hammers entered 2014/15 in reasonable health, having finished 13th in the Premier League in the previous campaign, although they only gained 40 points and did flirt with the relegation zone before finally confirming their top-flight status.

Plenty of changes were made in both playing and coaching personnel at Upton Park last summer, with forwards Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho brought in, while Teddy Sheringham joined up as an attacking coach. Cheikhou Kouyate and Aaron Cresswell were also signed, while Carl Jenkinson and Alex Song moved to the Hammers on season-long loans.

In this members article, we asses the main goal threats and creators in Sam Allardyce’s final year at the helm and also compare the team’s attacking numbers to the previous year.

Had Giroud in my draft team but unsure after today.

Anyone, especially Gunners, think he'll start next week? Or more likely to stick with Walcott up front as it seems to have worked pretty well?

I just got rid of both Giroud and Walcott, and changed them to Pelle and Ozil (and got Koscielny)

Theo rarely seems comfortable up top, much better on the right. Ox muddies that water somewhat but my guess fwiw is Ox will come off the bench and both Theo and Giro will start v Hammers.

Until Sanchez is back I would say Walcott is a secure starter, either as the man up front or on wing with Giroud. And do feel he has goals coming, this is first non-friendly game and it was against Chelsea, West Ham will be a very different story.

        Mmm who would replace Azpi?

I had Sakho previously but dropped to bring in Benteke and Mane.

Sakho would def be better than Deeney Id like to think so.

  4. Davido989

    Pantilimon / 4m
    Azpi Cedric Huth Lescott Gomez
    Hazard Young Chadli Walcott 4.5m
    Aguero Benteke Sakho

Will monitor the Aguero/Benteke situations but yeah that's how I'm shaping up atm.

Young/Gomez may turn out to be short term picks but I'm not entirely set on getting Bournemouth players (Ritchie/Francis) from the go.

few two many what ifs there suddenly for me. You could easily have a week one from your front 8 where only hazard, young, chadli and sakho start... and two of them are away to utd/arsenal

I like the general shape and balance of the squad, but I think saints coverage with those early fixtures is lacking

Gomez is more calculated cause he is only 4.5 and I feel will start teh first games and should at least make you money

Maybe a little too light on the defence but I like the 3 way defensive rotation and nice goalies. The midfield is very good and so is the attack. I would probably downgrade Ozil/Cazorla to Henderson/Milner then upgrade Azpi > Ivan and one of the 4.5 defenders to Cedric?

Thanks to the guys who commented on my first RMT earlier.

Took on board a few of the comments, mainly about getting myself a grav (best player ever!!), downgrading my defence a bit, losing Coutinho and upgrading attack.

Things now look like this, any other glaring errors?? (apart from the Villa defender, but they got good games and it's my team and Clark knows where the net is so I'm going for it!) 🙂

    Cech
    Cahill - Cedric - Clark
    Ozil - Eriksen - Silva - Oscar
    Benteke - Rooney - Defoe

    Subs: Ritchie, Huth, S Taylor

It's my first time and I do not fully understand the substitution system.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, from what I'm getting these are the rules:
      1. When the keeper doesn't play, the second keeper is substituted
      2. When an field player doesn't play, any field player is substituted at random?
      3. There are no deductions on the amount of points brought in by a substitute

      1. The 12th Man
        • 12 Years
        10 years, 4 months ago

        1. Yes no show for your starting keeper results in bench keeper coming in.
        2. Outfield players that don't play are automatically substituted in order of bench order ( left to right)
The only time this is different is when you only have 3 defenders in your first 11 and one of those does not play. Then your first Sub defender comes in.
        3. No deductions.

Targett also is meant to play a maximum of 2 games, before Bertrand returns from injury. So expect a non-playing 4.0 defender.

Seems odd benching Huth over PVA. Huth has the home fixture.

true I'll adjust that. I have no problems targett being benched, I always pick a 4m defender who won't play as my 3rd sub. a bonus that he'll play the second game for me in truth

will keep on eye on keepers, not sold on myhill if things change

      Ritchie > 4.5, hendo > a bigger hitter is all I'd advise

Strike force is poor , Midfield is excellent , Targett will get one game max , goal keeper rotation is poor . If you want to do something different do not post your team on here and ask people to rate it

        You're right 🙂

I have 0.5 in bank. To be honest I rarely even include goalies in my RMT's I just say 9m rotation as I change my mind so often and people have their opinions. I'll wait until night before on that one, butland, schmecs and ruddy all in my thoughts.

kane is the best place holder there is for aguero in my eyes as rooney is terrible (and I'm a united fan) and costa injured.

Not sure Ramsey will hit the heights of last season when he was bang in form, not sure about Pelle either but Saints regularly surprise me! Don't see too many points from Hendo

I'm tempted by lens over hendo. But I like hendo's play every minute of every match steadyness. A player I don't have to think about being in my team and will likely still get 10-12 assists/goals min. For 7m, I'll take that.

Not really looking for an RMT because I'm settled on my team.
    So just showing off 😉

    Butland/Adrian
    Koscielny Azpilicueta Huth (Williams Jenkinson)
    Ramsey Ozil Mata Ritchie (Wanyama)
    Sakho Pelle Rooney(C)

3million in the bank for Aguero/Sterling when required.

I like it, not worried about the lack of haz or any chels attack cover though??

Chelsea do not have great fixtures until GW12 or so. At 11.5, I do not see Hazard as a fixtureproof bargain as he was at 10.0 last season. I will downgrade Pelle and upgrade a mid in case Hazard is on fire.

that sounds a fair contingency, you wouldn't fancy starting with sterling over Ritchie then doing as you've said to get aguero when needed? Though I guess the 3m makes sanchez/aguero acquisition far more flexible

The 3 million is precisely for Rooney>Aguero and an underperforming 8.5>Sterling.

I do not like ManCitys opening 3 fixtures either((just like Chelsea), so I'm not too pushed on getting Sterling before that.

very fair, I'm aiming not to fall behind with only a couple risks early on rather than attempt to pull ahead so I think I'll stick with haz
