As we mentioned earlier in the week, this season we’ll be working with a number of weekly Fantasy Football games in a bid to highlight some of the new offerings, whilst bringing you coverage of familiar platforms.

We’ve set up Tom Fenley, the 2013/14 Fantasy Premier League champion, to take on these games – arming him with £100 stake money in each.

He’ll be bringing you weekly articles on the games featured that week, tracking his progress as he plays.

The first of these new games will be Premier Punt.

What Is It?

Quite simply, Premier Punt is a Fantasy game that offers weekly and daily tournaments and allows you to play head-to-head or as part of a mini-league.

Not surprisingly, there are cash prizes on offer, with a free-to-play league offering a £100 pot each week.

For the first week of the season, that pot has been bumped up to £200.

Why Should I Play?

Primarily because Premier Punt is a simple step from playing Fantasy Premier League.

The game is one of several to mimic the FPL scoring model, translating it directly to a weekly game platform.

There’s no bonus points factored in but, aside from that, you’ll be able to select a team with the same principles as picking an XI in FPL, albeit with a Wildcard in place each week.

The player prices are set by Premier Punt’s own algorithm, so there is some thinking to be done each week – you won’t get away with translating your FPL lineup straight into your Punt XI.

Having said that, Tom’s Weekly shop article should help you out on that score and you can select up to three lineups each week to spread your risks and heavy-hitters.

With that in mind and £200 on offer in their free game for Gameweek 1, all you have to do is register to get involved from the off.

There’s more to come from Punt, too.

They’ve new game formats on the way, plus a mobile app, complete with a custom game set-up that makes it easier to play on the move.

How Do I Get Started?

You can register an account with Premier Punt here, without having to add credit card details or deposit funds.

Once registered, you need to select one of the games on offer – picking the Weekly Game type will give you access to the various tournaments on offer for Gameweek 1.

One of those is the free-to-enter Gameweek 1 contest with a prize pot of £200.

Simply select the weekly games, then choose your XI and then join up with the contest or “challenge” of your choice.

Look out for Tom Fenley’s Premier Punt article on Friday where he’ll be talking more about the game and the contests on offer and just how he’s spending his first slice of stake money ahead of Gameweek 1.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Does anyone have a clue who will be starting GK for Palace this weekend?

My plan is to rotate Hennessey/McCarthy and Myhill. Probably playing Myhill from gameweek 3 through to 12 (good fixtures), or until Foster is back.

I can see West Brom being good defencively and would prefer a 4.5mil route into the defence. My FPL philosophy is to save money where ever possible and this has served me well over the years.

Any Crystal Palace supporters on now? Can someone please tell me how they're midfielder and forwards are going to line up with all that attacking talent?? My guess is this:

    ---------------Wickham-------------------
    Bolasie------Bamford------Puncheon
    ------Jedinak----------Cabaye----------

With Sako and Zaha on the bench.

    Is this about right?

Ok, this Costa injury has caused a rethink. all criticisms welcome! Team is set up for 8 GWs only as will WC at that stage.

GKS: Mignolet & Ruddy - 8 nice home fixtures to start.

DEF: Mertesacker, Cedric, Huth, Coates, Mings. I have 0.5 to upgrade Mert to Azpi but think Arsenal might be tight at the back this year. Cedric looks like he likes to push on and hopefully Saints are as tight at the back this year. The other 3 give me SUN, NOR, SWA, LEI, AST, SUN, sto, WAT.

MID: Fabregas - can't justify the extra for Hazard with their early fixtures.
Sterling - could be used as a front man till Aguero returns.
Henderson - great value at the price. As bad as Liverpools away fixtures are, the home ones are great.
Ozil - could still be Cazorla or Walcott but Ozil looks the safest bet for starts.
Ritchie - Seem a lot for someone who won't play for me every week but is part of my Aguero plan.

    FOR:
Rooney - Main man at Man U and viable captain option.
Lukaku - striker with best fixture in GW1
Pelle - up and running in the EL, hoping he carries it into the league season.

Aguero plan: Rooney and Lukaku to Aguero and Deeney (Deeney rotates with Ritchie)

0.5m in the bank for price rises etc.

Yeah I agree to be fair; I was considering Walcott > Ozil but I know that'd inevitably result in a Walcott hattrick!

I felt like I needed Mane or Pelle and there's no room for Pelle, so that part answered itself.

    [draft related question]

As far as I can see the draft for all the leagues other that top division is today.
Any idea why the top division is not aligned with the rest?
The article is misleading in that respect.

Continuing the ongoing Fabregas vs Hazard discussion, I don't see many on here factoring in the Costa effect on Fabregas. One of the main reasons Fabregas declined in the 2nd half of the season was because Costa missed a big chunk of it. Apart from set-pieces, Costa is mainly the one Fabregas is assisting (I don't have stats unfortunately but I am sure someone here can help with that 🙂 ). If there are concerns on Costa's fitness this early in the season, don't you think this negatively impacts Fabregas as an FPL prospect. And doesn't that also mean Hazard has to carry the burden of scoring more making him a better pick?

I think it was also down to fatigue. Mourinho moved Fabregas more forward halfway through the season, but that didn't help matters at all. I think he will have a better season this year.

6 assists by Fab for Costa according to this:

      http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/news/news/2014-15/apr/140415-best-all-time-bpl-goal-making-and-scoring-partnerships.html

My thoughts too - will Remy and Falcao offer the same threat? Doubtful - but Fab will still have plenty of big units to hit from his free kicks.

      Hazard, Rooney, Walcott, Silva.

        In that order you think?

For me it is I think, but very close. Still mighty tempted by Silva.

Was toying with the idea of Sterling, explosive potential. WBA are no push overs though under Pulis. Cant see many good matchups. Potentially Mane but thats a punt and a half

I don't mind the Mane punt tbh. I think Sterling is an intriguing option, he will face less defensive pressure with the talent around him in the long term. I'm going with Silva to start for safety though.

Haz/Walcott would be the obvious choice.

Mahrez will have a 13 point GW though, just watch 😉

However, the more I think about it the less I like the idea of having Haz captain... Walcott could only end up playing 60 mins so that would also be a risk.

Rooney will play the whole game and as he's a lone striker you can see some potential for goals.

On the other hand, I can't see a United clean sheet; even Kane could be a worthy candidate.

I cant trust Walcott. Rooney or maybe Haz makes most sense but in a match like Utd v Tot i dont see many goals

Bear in mind there have been over 2.5 goals in the last 4 meetings between them when United are at home.

            Just food for thought 😉

Also, a 0-0 would just be rude considering it's the first game of the season.

I'm tempted to gamble with this :

    Hennersey
    Azpil - Mert - Kolarov
    Sterling - Mane - Oxlade - Mahrez - Hazard
    Benteke - Rooney

    Sakho / Myhill / Huth / Gomez

Fair but I'd rather have a different arsenal mid.

Won't be as involved as the others in the scoring IMO. If I had a 6.0 mid, I'd rather he be super involved. The others are too good to pass on I think.

He will burst into the box alot with the cover of coq + cazorla. I'm a west ham fan and believe me our defence wont be able to handle Ox.

Id rather Ox than a Mahrez/Sinclair job.

Imagine a forward line of Sanchez, Walcott and AOC being supplied by Ozil and Cazorla...... it would scare the living daylights out of most back fours....
