    Captain for GW2:

    Benteke, Rooney, Sakho or Mane?

So both my bench defenders didn't play....

Wisdom/Mings -> Oxford best use of my FT this week? (nothing too serious to attend to with the rest)

Okay lads. 14.5 to spend on a mid and a defender. Which option would you pick?

    Stekelen
( ) darmian, alderwerield, gomez, oxford
( ) Sanchez, Eriksen, Payet, Mahrez
    Aguero, Gomis (inghalo)

    A) silva and a 4.5.. Maybe coates or francis
    B) toure with 6.0 to spend
    C) mane with 6.5 to spend. Which defender?

Currently on mane and kompany.. Mainly cos citys fixtures are perfect with my other def fixtures.

      I like C with Kompany.

With that 0.5 itb you can do Erik -> YYT/Sterling in GW4 if you want to.

yep.. wildcard team. upset that i used it.. moment of weakness but ohwell.

Ive decided that my defender will be francis as i wrote a list of everyones fixtures and it seems its near perfect with him in it.

so silva is becomes very affordable. that make a difference for those saying mane?

would you go mane for the next 2 gws and then switch to silva from there?

My team (and yes I wildcarded):

      Adrian / Schmeichel
      Darmian / Kolarov / Cedric / Gomez / Oxford
      Sanchez / Silva / Depay / Oscar / Ibe
      Pelle / Benteke / Sakho

This man flu is keeping me up 🙁

I've just been watching Chelsea 2-2 Swansea highlights. My word Swansea look good.

Montero made a mockery of the Chelsea defence all afternoon, he looks like a name to watch in the future. Ayew, who can also play as a striker, was taking up the ST position many times during the match. Swansea practically played with Gomis and Ayew up front at times. As seen here: http://streamable.com/a0rk

If Montero, Siggy and Shelvey stay fit, Gomis and Ayew should be knocking in goals for fun this season. Those 3 creative players look key though.

Did you think that Gomis should have done a lot better with Shelvey's through balls? I felt he might turn out to be Giroud-like, if that makes sense.

      1. Piggs Boson
        • 14 Years

Gomis isn't the best finisher, but he'll get lots of opportunities so it shouldn't matter. A bit like Giroud in that sense, yeah 🙂

Agreed! I really like the look of Swansea this season.
Some FPL returns to be reaped from the likes of Shelvey, Montero, Ayew & Gomis.

Agree with you, watched the highlights too. They both look very threatening.

One route I'm considering is Wally & Roo -> Ayew & Kun in GW4 - that if I decide to keep Haz and go with only Kun as MCI attack.

    Pretty happy with this atm:
    http://i.imgur.com/ahroW4C.jpg (-4)

I don't think 3 big strikers is sustainable though. I'm sure Silva will approach near essential status come GW4, so he may be difficult to bring in. I'm not sure Sterling is going to be a good Silva substitute...

What are your plans for a City midfielder GW4 onwards? You getting Silva, Sterling, Yaya or no one?

Very solid side with the big-hitters up front. A quite like the side.

Personally, I'm pondering the same about Sterling. Is he a better alternative to Silva (and Toure).
I'll give him another week or so before making a decision.

An international break WC is most likely on the cards.

      2. Piggs Boson

I could do that in a couple of weeks, yup. Sounds like a good move if their prices stay the same...

    3. NABIL - FPL otai
      • 13 Years
      10 years, 4 months ago

Since I did Targett -> Gomez with my FT, I'm now down to couple of possible routes in GW4:

      1. Wally & Roo -> Ayew & Kun (no hit)
      2. Kos, Wally & Roo -> Komp, Ayew & Kun (-4)
      3. Haz, Wally & Roo -> Yaya, Silva & Kun (-4)

Which one you think is the best?

      1. NABIL - FPL otai
        • 13 Years

keeping Mane & Payet at all cost.

      2. Piggs Boson
        • 14 Years
        10 years, 4 months ago

        1 looks solid.

3 could be glorious. Triple City attack with those fixtures could be huge for you.

        1. NABIL - FPL otai
          • 13 Years
          10 years, 4 months ago

Yeah. I like option 3 atm - I think I will get back those hit points in no time. Losing Haz (CPL) in GW4 would be an issue though, although I agree that Kun is a better captain option than him most weeks.

        • 12 Years
        10 years, 4 months ago

No need for 2 in gw4, Kosc & Komp are same price and there's no need for a hit on a defensive move. If its a good long term move you can surely do it week 5

        1. NABIL - FPL otai
          • 13 Years
          10 years, 4 months ago

Yeah I tend to agree now. Only that since I'm WCing GW9, it's all about maximizing points potential before the big GW, and I just think Komp will do better than Kos in GW4-8

Same as yours but with Kane instead of Rooney. If they the big names all fire we've got a competitive advantage for a week or two I think. On the downside we're light on the big name midfielders. I'm liking the cheaper options there though more than up front at the minute.

      I agree with your assessment.

      • 12 Years
      10 years, 4 months ago

Strike force is fine, its more the '4th' big striker Sanchez that unbalances things. Parts of 2013/14 I played Suarez/Rooney/Aguero for something like £34m up front and that was fine with maxing out midfielders at £8m. In your case the front 3 are slightly cheaper (though we're at lower TV at the moment) So I think Sanchez -> 8.5 or even Sanchez -> Silva will let you balance out the midfield better.

          10 years, 4 months ago

So did 2013/14 with Adam Banana and Yohan Kebab, I just think 3 mid rangers is pushing it too far. I'd rather have two expensive mids and two mid rangers (perhaps rotating the mid rangers on fixtures and leaving in your two 9/8.5s in long term. Rather than one premium (sanchez in your case) and three mid rangers who you'll have to juggle really well. That's just my opinion on team structure though.

Tough to call. I think I prefer Ayew though. Purely because he gets goals over assists and he's 0.5m cheaper.

Would you start an attacking player from one team and a defender from an opposing team in the same GW (e.g. Ivan and Sterling this GW) or avoid this situation if you have option's on your bench even though they are cheaper?

So in this case you would play Sterling & Ivan if you had them as they combine 16m and leave someone like Ibe/Gomez/Mahrez on the bench even though they have an easier game?

I think he will, thought Lallana was pretty disappointing on Sunday so can see him coming in and Rodgers playing more of a 4-3-3 with Coutinho and Firmino either side of Benteke.

      Giroud
      Alexis Ozil Theo
      Caz Coq

I think Ox will make may for Theo. Ox has bags of talent but arsenal currently needs the end product of the more experienced Theo.

Wenger should play both Theo and Giroud imo (hold up play of Giroud and pace and movement of Theo will benefit arsenal more

Did Wally help when he came on?

Wenger has been experimenting whilst Alexis has been out and it hasn't worked. Just thought he'd return to the XI that served him well last season.

I think wenger may prefer ox or wally in wings as they will offer genuine width

With Ramsey there arsenal will play more narrower making them easy to defend against.

This has really been toying with me, 🙂
I've got a feeling that I should ship Ramsey, although I know he's 85-90% going to start,
you never know after the 0-2 defeat home vs. the Hammers.

    A) Ayew+1.5
    B) Eriksen
    C) Ramsey

I know DZ is the perfect time to post this.
Your thoughts are always valued 🙂 Thanks

Depends on your main reasons for choosing him to begin with. Has anything fundamentally changed? Now we know about Ayew and that the Arsenal to challenge for title hype should be tempered. Other than that, Ramsey still solid.

      1. Slam
        • 10 Years

Honestly, I'm not planning on shipping him due to him not starting.
He didn't look to bad either but was deployed on the wing, yet played in the middle majority of the game. IMO he's meant to play in the middle.
Ultimetely what I'm trying to get at is that the likes of Eriksen/Ayew look much better options right now. 🙂

Perfectly legit. I don't think you can really go wrong. All are strong contenders. Depends mostly on whether you want to wait another week when you have more information. Everyone is all about Mahrez, Payet and Ayew right now. In a week, more info helps shape the landscape. Ayew looks solid. Eriksen definitely quality.

Turd has data on previous season's week 1 has always been quieter than future weeks. I think in 2013 it was ~40% below season average activity.

Ah, I'd love to see that data. It makes sense because in theory people should have set up for a run of games so they shouldn't need to make too many changes immediately.

Public health announcement: Don't watch both episodes of Match of the Day then listen to the Scoutcast just before you go to sleep.

Otherwise you could end up like me. Jolted awake at 4am have dreamt that somehow Payet had gone up 0.2m overnight. Terrifying!
