SCOUT PICKS CHALLENGE - GW2 AND SCORING UPDATE

Good evening everyone! I've got some important news below on the Scout Picks Challenge.

*** SCORING UPDATE ***

Apologies for the lack of a spreadsheet link to access scoring of the SPC, there was a very good reason behind this.

As I mentioned during pre-season, I wanted to update the scoring engine to make it more viable to score points. For example, this gameweek we had (a record) 74 players enter the challenge. It doesn't make sense to only have 3 of those players score base points.

Therefore I've introduced the following new scoring system for this season;

- Top player 1 scores 3 points (same as before)
- Top 4% of the population will rank "second" and score 2 points.
- Top 10% of the population will rank "third" and score 1 point.

Bonus points are unchanged, therefore beating the FFS Scout Picks + Differentials will score an additional bonus point as before.

*** MORE FREQUENT UPDATES ***

Thanks to macros I received from Billy Gilmore last season which I have now manipulated to fit my current spreadsheet, scores are provided directly from the FPL website and can be updated at the click of a button (rather than me spending an additional hour inputting scores).

This means as long as I have inputted the teams during the gameweek, the spreadsheet will be updated each matchday for viewing.

*** COMMUNITY ROUNDUP ***

Admittedly, I've been ridiculous rubbish at emailing the Scouts during the GW (mainly because I fell behind) to have winners included in the Community Roundup. With the new ease of score updates (again all credit to Billy Gilmore), I'll be able to stay on track and this will be reflected with more inclusions in the Community Roundup.

*** LAST COMMENTS AND SPREADSHEET ***

I'd like to take this opportunity to extend a massive thank you to everyone who has been supportive of the Scout Picks Challenge. I always read comments on squads (regardless of whether I reply) and the positive comments left by others keep driving me to provide this competition gameweek after gameweek, even when I'm snowed under.

The spreadsheet is now updated but there will be layout updates over the following weeks (mainly in the support sheets, not the main squad one) to improve visibility and format. More colour coding will be used, and I'll also be implementing automatic squad validation (again, massive shoutout to Billy Gilmore) so I'll be able to inform people issues before the deadline (hopefully).

*** MID-GAMEWEEK RANKINGS ***

As viewable on the spreadsheet, here is the current standings for the first SPC gameweek;

1st - Gussy (45pts)
Top 4% - Dusan Citizen, Anuth (41pts)
Top 10% - Kalmoffit, Mr Robot (40pts), Balders (39pts), Krzys (38pts), Saint Suarez (37pts)

With Innsie, Freemlan, The Wayfarer and MB10 all one point away (36pts) from joining the rankings!
