We turn our attentions to FantasyBet this Friday lunchtime, as I continue my quest to turn £100 pot into profit.

For those unfamiliar, the initial player prices and scoring system in FantasyBet are very similar to Fantasy Premier League, making it an accessible weekly and daily format for those who pay a lot of attention to the official game.

There are twelve guaranteed pots this weekend in FantasyBet, including the two regular freerolls – the £100 weekly game and the £50 flash contest. There’s no Monday night football this week, meaning three matches on Sunday, all covered by a £1.10 entry game that has a £75 pot and also a ‘Super Sunday’ contest for a £11 fee that has a £100 pot. Manchester United travel to the Emirates on Sunday in the standout fixture of the weekend and FantasyBet have created a £100 guaranteed game for that clash, with a £11 stake required.

The standard Saturday double-up features with a £75 pot for £3.30 entry. For games covering all ten fixtures there’s the ‘no selection budget’ contest for £5.50 also with £75 on offer and for the high-rollers, a £500 pot for a £22 stake. There’s also the weekly £1000 game for £5.50 that misses out the early kick-off between Crystal Palace and West Brom, allowing teams to be picked up until the 3pm kick-offs.

My Weekend Team
I’m going to run through the team I’m entering in the £100 free-roll, with over 100 entries and counting I tend to go with more differentials than usual in the free games, while also retaining a core of players that most teams will likely have.

For example, in defence I’m tripling up on Chelsea defensive assets, Asmir Begovic (5m), Kurt Zouma (5.5m) and Cesar Azpilicueta (6m) find a place despite their woeful form. Not many are likely to favour Jose Mourinho’s backline after recent outings but I feel this could pay off, considering Southampton failed to score in their last two away trips. I’ve then gone for the full quota of City players, Sergio Aguero (13m) and Aleksandar Kolarov (5.5) being joined by Raheem Sterling (9m) as another differential.

The midfield is completed by obvious picks Dimitri Payet (7.5m) and Riyad Mahrez (5.5m) and, as I highlighted in the Weekly Shop article, Crystal Palace’s Yannick Bolasie (6.5m) faces injury-hit West Brom at home. I also considered the merits of Rudy Gestede and Jamie Vardy in that midweek round-up, so the Villa and Leicester strikers slot in alongside Aguero, which leaves a healthy 24.5m for my bench players.

The Bottom Line

Last week, I entered the Sunday and Monday bargain games and also the single fixture Monday night match. Backing clean sheets for both sides in the last fixture of the Gameweek seemed sensible based on their recent defensive form but completely backfired and Everton’s 3-2 victory over West Brom meant no money placings and a remaining pot of £91.11.

This Week’s Stake

Weekly – The team above goes into the £100 free-roll as mentioned and I also play the flash freeroll. I’m also risking £5.50 again to join the £1000 guaranteed game and spend another £1.10 to enter the Scout Picks team.

Daily – I’ve entered the Saturday double up as usual for £3.30 and the Sunday bargain game for £1.10.

Stake – £11
Current balance – £80.11

£100 Guaranteed FFScout Picks League

This week FantasyBet have also provided a £100 pot for the FFScout Picks League. I will enter our Scout Picks as closely as possible, given a 15-man squad is required with the 100m budget and a captain also needs to be selected. Feel free to go up against them this week and pick your own squad on FantasyBet.

    Myhill McCarthy
    Darmian Janmaat Richards Gomez Cedric
    Surman Sanchez Yaya Payet Mane
    Rondon Kun Vardy

Was going to take a hit on

Darmian and Yaya to Kolarov and Mata

Now it looks like I'm going to have to go

Yaya and Rondon to Lukaku and Mata

    Thoughts plz guys?

I'm in a similar position, if I take a hit it will mean playing a 2-pointer midfielder. Keep Darmian for this week and get players who are more likely to score well, ie. Lukaku and Mata.

afternoon guys. should my transfer out this week be Wilson or Yaya? I did my WC last week so not keen on taking a -4, although this will mean either playing Westwood or Sakho (Liv).

Thinking if I get rid of Yaya to Caz or Walcott I can maybe get Berahino next week?

Has anyone actually seen Kane's goal last week? He almost knocked it over the bar with an open goal. Might have been an "instinctive" reaction, but it was close to being a big miss and another blank.

Not getting him in any time soon.

They all count. He needs a few goals to rebuild that confidence if they are poor so be it.

        • 11 Years

This is the only encouraging mentality - the old "all he needs is a goal bouncing in off his backside" mentality. Sometimes strikers genuinely do just need to break a dry patch with any type of goal.

I think there are a lot of people here who think it was an great technical finish but I don't think it was.

I have seen plenty of examples of players getting this wrong, agreed. Especially with the ball bouncing up at the point of contact. However, he would have been instinctively trying to keep the ball down, and the fact that it ended up in the top corner suggests to me that he miscued it. Got lucky it still went in.

He had about as much time to react as most passes that arrive at the strikers feet from inside the penalty box.

        • 11 Years

He would have made it look easy by hitting it straight into the middle of the goal, not into he top corner, at risk of missing the goal altogether

1-2 feet under the bar and hit from right to left so that it ends up in the back corner but went down "the middle" of the open space.

            • 11 Years
            10 years, 5 months ago

Yeah, 1-2 feet under the bar. I'd argue it probably crosses the line much closer to the post then the centre.

A more assuring finish would have been at 1-2 feet above ground into the middle of the net.

(I might be on my own with this one)

I mean, was it possible he hit it like that, physically? Sure, I can agree with that. But with the way it all played out I think he did well to place it there even. Obviously he had the whole goal to aim for but he barely had a chance to set his feet. I just wouldn't analyze it too closely in terms of his form and aim (at least not based just on that goal).

So, do I play it safe and let (my first sub) James Morrison come in for Yaya...

...or do I take a hit to get him out? (I have bare doe itb - thus affording anyone)

I'd prefer not to take a hit, but got plenty of issues i need to sort in my defense next week (Gomez, Targett etc), so:

    Coutinho -> KDB (-4)

Thinking it should pay off over next 5 fixtures

looks good. But Targett isn't a real issue as he looks a far effort from dropping in price

Finally recovered from the trauma of taking Sanchez out last week (would have been my captain as well (don't ask....)).

Anyway moving on, going to be needing a new midfielder soon. Who would be your pick for the next 10 gameweeks based on form, stats and fixtures?

KDB. Who would be your pick? It's your team after all.

Barkley at the moment despite a few difficult fixtures coming up. If I go Man City then I think Silva will be my choice

I like Barkley too, held him through the tough run due to other issues. But confident of returns this weekend.

          Silva's a great shout too.

Sorry, but why on earth would you take someone out if they were going to be your captain?

Knew this question would be asked lol. Needed funds to get Payet in but still wanted a captain from the arsenal game. So did Sanchez -> Walcott (c)

For me it's because Giroud has looked so poor that surely Walcott will get a run of games

I reckon so. Theo's had quite a few games. Could deal damage from the bench!

First hit of the season and its a -8

Ayew, YaYa and Wilson > Sanchez, Walcott and Vardy in.

I don't even know how I came to land on those 3 but it's happened.

      Good move in my opinion.

I'm on second -4, and much happier with my team, including that 600K move up in places last week.
