We carry out our club-by-club scan of the treatment rooms, on the day that West Ham playmaker Dimitri Payet was ruled out for up to three months with an ankle injury sustained against Everton.

Elsewhere, Liverpool face an anxious wait for the full prognosis on Mamadou Sakho’s knee problem, whilst City are boosted by Sergio Aguero’s progress, as Wilfried Bony is left nursing his hamstring.

Arsenal

Santi Cazorla was replaced by Manuel Flamini at half time of the North London derby, in what initially looked like a tactical decision. Arsene Wenger revealed in his post-match press conference, however, that the Spanish playmaker was suffering from dizziness that affected his mobility:

“We suffered in the first half because Cazorla was at 30 per cent of his potential, he was dizzy. I was sitting there thinking do I take him off or not? You never know, maybe it will get better. At half-time I took him off, and in the second half we had a bit better balance. He is not sick, he was just dizzy and could not move, you could see that on the pitch. I did not really know what he had, so at half-time I took him off, I hope it is nothing bad, but it does not look like it, because he says he is alright now.”

Bournemouth

Eddie Howe confirmed that Marc Pugh – who was withdraw after 45 minutes last Gameweek – was unavailable for selection after failing to shake off a knock.

Chelsea

The Blues defender Kurt Zouma has withdrawn from duties for the France Under 21 side due to an unspecified injury earlier today.

Crystal Palace

Eagles fitness coach John Salako has issued an update on Dwight Gayle, who missed the weekend win over Liverpool due to a hamstring injury:

“Dwight works very hard and, unfortunately, I think he’s got a Grade Two tear – he’s had the scan. He could face three-to-four weeks on the sidelines now. He is young so we’ll see, it could be two weeks, it could be (up to) four.”

Everton

Tyias Browning picked up a minor knee injury in training during the week, ruling him out for England U21’s match-up against Bosnia on Thursday. Toffees boss Roberto Martinez went on to say:

“We had a warm-up game on Wednesday and he picked up an injury in his knee. It is nothing serious but we’ll have to speak with England and manage that situation. I don’t think he’ll be available for the next game, but he could be available for the game against Switzerland in Brighton.”

Fellow full-back Brendan Galloway is also being assessed ahead of England U21’s upcoming pair of matches. Earlier today, manager Gareth Southgate revealed:

“Brendan is being assessed now, he is with us. It’s a muscular injury but we don’t want to take any chances. Maybe he is okay for Thursday; maybe he is okay for Monday. We don’t know.”

Liverpool

The Merseysiders were rocked earlier this evening after scans confirmed that Mamadou Sakho is set for a period on the sidelines after limping off early during the weekend loss to Palace. Liverpool expect to discover the likely period of absence tomorrow, with the Frenchman set to see a specialist.

Jordon Ibe has withdrawn from England U21 duties against Bosnia and Switzerland with a knee injury, The youngster suffered no more than bruising, though, and is expected to be available for the Gameweek 13 trip to City.

James Milner sat out Sunday’s defeat having suffered a hamstring injury in their Europa League clash against Rubin Kazan. After the Anfield loss, Jurgen Klopp played down the severity of the injury:

“In Kazan, he had not the best moment with his muscle. But he’s an experienced player, and it was nothing serious and in this moment he can train.”

Manchester City

Wilfried Bony pulled up with a hamstring problem at Villa Park and had to be substituted at the 24-minute mark. Although Manuel Pellegrini doesn’t expect the Ivorian to play for his country during the international break, he did suggest that Bony could travel with the squad to get his injury assessed:

“It is difficult to know at this moment how serious his hamstring injury is. We will see tomorrow. I don’t know – maybe he will have to go and join up with Ivory Coast. His country must review the injury. But I don’t think he will be able to play and he will return to Manchester.”

In more positive developments for the Sky Blues, Pellegrini reported that a quartet of injured players are progressing well in their rehabilitation, with Sergio Aguero targeting a return next Gamweek against Liverpool:

“I hope that this week he [Aguero], (David) Silva, (Samir) Nasri and (Pablo) Zabaleta, will work with the physiotherapist and next Monday they will start working with the squad. We will see in the way he improves this week, but I think there is a chance he can be (back for Liverpool).”

Earlier today, Aguero took to twitter to confirm:

“Giving it my all on recovery work. There’s still more to go but getting better by the day!”

Manchester United

Marouane Fellaini missed Manchester United’s 2-0 home win over West Bromwich Albion and will not travel with Belgium ahead of their back-to-back friendlies, given that he sustained an injury in training.

Norwich City

Nathan Redmond was sidelined for the Canaries’ win over Swansea and has withdrawn from international duty with the England U21s, having injured his thigh in midweek.

Newcastle United

In the wake of the Magpies’ 1-0 road victory against Bournemouth, stand-in shot-stopper Rob Elliot revealed that he played against the advice of the club’s doctors. The former Charlton keeper is nursing a thigh injury but is confident that a fortnight of rest will hold him in good stead when Leicester City pay a visit next Gameweek.

“If you ask the manager, I was always playing. If you ask the doctor, then I probably wasn’t playing last week either. I was always going to play, and I didn’t know how good or bad it was going to be. It wasn’t too bad today, it was quite painful and I just had to get underneath the ball and lift it, you just don’t want to let the team down. I said to the manager, if you want me to play I will play, but just so long as I’m not going to hinder the team. I’m going to go and see the specialist and hopefully get some good news off him. Get some treatment, get some strength, get some rest. Hopefully I’ll be ready for Leicester and hopefully (we can) start showing the team that we can be, rather than the team we could be.”

Sunderland

John O’Shea is carrying a hamstring injury and will be assessed by Sunderland’s medical team to determine his availability for Ireland’s Euro 2012 qualifying play-off:

“Rob Elliot, John O’Shea, Paul McShane, Alan Judge, and Shane Long will all be assessed by their respective clubs before reporting for international duty.”

West Ham United

The Hammers have been dealt a major blow after Dimitri Payet was ruled out for around three months with an ankle injury sustained against Everton on Saturday. His replacement against the Toffees, Enner Valencia, was forced off with a similar complaint and will be assessed by a specialist early next week, the club’s official website has revealed.

    pelle/ kane/ vardy

    0.4 ITB

Thinking of getting rid of KDB instead for ozil so I don't have a benching headache. Icould just bench Payet and get rid of him next week. Or should I just bench KDB and trade out Payet?

Any Eriksen owners here? Had him the last three (bou AVL ars), one assist from 9 TOT goals - very disappointing

Next fixtures WHU CHE wba NEW sou NOR

He could be a downgrade for Aguero, but I could just manage it with one extra transfer and keeping him. Desperately need something different. Is Eriksen the one?

If your looking for a differential, Look towards Chelsea or possibly Everton Midfield.

Both teams have good fixtures and could provide better options.

I'm actually a little worried about his game time. With the form of Dembele, Dier and Alli, I can see them starting most games. Erik and lamela first choice on wide positions but son now back and likely to challenge. I'd hold for now but not buy.

You have to accept he will go weeks without scoring and then bang, a couple of double digit scores in a row.

If you have the patience for that, he will get you between 150 and 170 Pts a season.

Yes, may have to hold for this run of 4 home games in 6. Surely some returns due. Issues of game time was also raised above however....

    Early ideas on this lot?

    de Gea Hennessey
Kolarov Bellerín Moreno van Dijk Simpson
Surman De Bruyne Sánchez Payet Mané
    Pellè Kane Vardy

2 FT, £0.6m in the bank.

Payet needs to go as Surman is pretty useless for a start.

    Cheers for any suggestions.

Bit hesitant on Ighalo because 2 others in my league have him and I love a differential. Kone would be good, but seems to get subbed or not played whenever he has a half bad game so will miss out if he doesnt keep form.

Want to make the correct swap to be ready for Kun.

May have to concede defeat on the hypothetical situation of who to lose between Sánchez & KdB to fit in Agüero. Looks like he's underperforming - http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/public-stats-tables/view/6070/

Also, a nice comparison of his previous three seasons (sorted by oldest first) - https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CTX9zoCWEAAb_mD.png

Sánchez has the best current xG per 90 according to this - https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CTUujENW4AADdlh.png

Sidenote on the table regarding Vardy, his goal efficiency might be difficult to sustain. Vardy's xG last year - .294 per 90 & goal efficiency at .684

Vardy is going to be interesting. I think he could quite well equal the record considering he has newcastle away as his next fixture. But then they have a torrid run of fixtures. Jumping off Vardy at the right time could be vital. Lots will hang on for ages and ages.

At his price, there's not much reason to jump ship over a few bad fixtures.

Every player will blank the odd time, but I think the teams form is good enough for him to score in even the tougher fixtures.

    Yaya or Sterling

Unfortunately Yaya is not the same player he was 2 seasons ago + he's not on pens anymore when Kun's back. Sterling is hungry for goals and has to prove his value, is in great form too.

      Raheem for me.

What makes you think sterling is in good form?

I watch most city games and as hard as he tries, he lacks composure at the final product.

Sterling, but will have to play the long game and hold through gritted teeth at times I fear. Such is the experience owning him.

I don't want to be put in an NK internment camp for fear of displeasing you, but I'm sorry to say I believe the best option is to avoid completely. Puncheon is just an absolute no-go. Cabaye is really just too reliant on penalties however many we will get with Wilf on the pitch to consider for me. If Pardew ever does consider playing two of McArthur, Jedi, or Ledley holding and pushes Cabaye up, though, he would be a must own. I don't think that will happen, however. But something to monitor nonetheless. Bolasie I just still haven't seen a significant step forward this season in the finishing department. I think there are better options near his price range for FPL unfortunately.

Coutinho/Eriksen maybe worth a shout. I personally prefer the Dane. But we know both can be incredibly fustrating.

Searching in lower price range come Palace mids/Gini/Everton mids.

But my pick of the bunch would be Mane.

So, I'm considering an alternative approach to dealing with my Payet dilemma, with a view to Aguero prep, and I appreciate some second opinions. My team currently looks like this....

    Butland - Myhill
Kolarov - Bellerin - van Dijk - Moreno - Francis
    Sanchez - KdB – Özil - Payet - Mahrez
    Pellè - Vardy - Ighalo

In both scenarios Pelle will leave for Aguero.

    A) My initial plan was swap Payet for a similarly valued player (maybe Countinho or Mane), then I would be generating my Aguero cash by selling Kolarov for Ward (I believe defence is sufficiently covered despite the downgrade)

    B) I'm now thinking that if I lose Francis for Ward (the latter of whom looks good as a first teamer in the upcoming run of games), I would have 6.5M to spend on Payet to facilitate the Aguero signing. Not sure who... Lanzini, Arnautovic, Deulofeu (other suggestions welcomed)

Pros: Keep Kolarov, or the funds to replace with an equally premium defender in the future
Cons: Mahrez, Ighalo + a 6.5M leave me little flexibility if I need to jump ship on one or more of them

    Appreciate some DZ expertise guys...

I think with so much money tied into Kolarov and the fact that Clichy is back now makes him a little less appealing. Obviously, he could still keep Clichy on the bench, but the very idea that Clichy might get a sneak in over him would make you a bit uncomfortable. On top of that, there aren't really mane 6.5 or lower priced mids that you really need to have. There's Palace now with their turn of fixtures, but I think confidence in them is a little lower than it was last season.

Both options involve Ward, but is Ward still nailed after last game? I prefer option A between them, I'd also consider to downgrade KdB to fund Kun, Coutinho seems to have a very good shooting stats, and their fixtures after the City game looks good if you think this is an alternative that you'd consider.

      1. Jøssy ⭐

Jeez!! I watched that game, and didn't even realise he didn't play!! 😐 Granted I was more concerned with Liverpool.

I can actually fund Coutinho for Payet without downgrading KdB. It would involve trimming of the defence and probably only having 4 defenders I'd want to play (but I'm comfortable with that).

It would probably look a bit like this:

        Butland - Myhill
KELLY - Bellerin - van Dijk - Moreno - COLLOCINI
        Sanchez - KdB – Özil - COUTINHO - Mahrez
        AGUERO - Vardy - Ighalo

(assuming Ward doesn't nail his spot back) I'm really surprised by that!!

      2. Jøssy ⭐

Or... I go crawling back to Mane, who I transferred out impetuously, because I'd have rather have kept Payet (and didn't want to miss any more Ozil rises).

The teams on the right most part of the graph are the teams that are getting more shots forward, City and Arsenal are the best, followed by Tottenham. Liverpool are getting shots too, but their chances are low quality.

ManUnited are efficient & deliberate, they'll build up a play for years at a time & create maybe a couple of big chances a game. Yet they convert them, I'm not so sure I'd get a United attacker tbh.

I agree wholly. I wouldn't want to get Mata as a season keeper, but their run in after the break (wat lei WHM bou NOR) looks pretty good. All of these teams are struggling at the back. Norwich, Leicester and Bournemouth especially.

Aye, great fixtures for sure, though stylistically, tactically, statistically I would not feel confident dropping 8.9m for one of their attacks tbh. Rather get Sterling, Eriksen, Özil, & Cout/Firm, players from better attacking teams that are getting more chances & are capable of scoring 3+ goals at a whim. If United score one or two goals a game, think you'd need a very high goal involvement from Mata, not sure he's capable of that with the way LvG's system is set-up imo.

    Butland McCarthy
    Azpi Kolarov Bertrand Francis Richards
    Sanchez KDB Tadic Maherz Westwood
    Pelle Lukaku Vardy
    1 FT, 4.3 itb

Would love to have Özil for Payet but that would mean that one the following needs to be benched.

    Sanchez-KDB-Mane-Mahrez
    Vardy-Lukaku-Pelle

Doesn't make sense bringing him in yet?

I prefer a bench fodder as I feel better without the pressure of getting who to bench right every week!

      Fellow Emirati...

What do you think about my Payet options, having kneejerked Mane out to catch the Ozil rise, rather than wait another day to find out Payet's fate. 🙁

Tempted to jump straight back on Mane, with Coutinho my other primary option. My thinking was always that I could have got Payet back as easily as I could Mane (as I get him early), but I didn't think I'd be considering it the same gameweek.

So annoyed that I've blown the benefit I expected from saving my second FT for this week. 😡

        No don't do it.

Wouldn't get Coutinho either. Unless he shows some consistency.

I would drop Payet for Gosling (check his stats) to fund Aguero move later.

Really? Gosling!? If I was going to do a downgrade, I'd be tempted to go for Deulofeu.

Yeah, I'm not convinces by Coutinho either, and I'm a Liverpool fan. But he's been hurting me in my ML of late (I know I need to look at OR instead).

Not a million miles from my Aguero funds anyway. I have this even if I go sideways on Payet.

See that's my issue. I'm not a fan of bench fodder. I was finally convinced to put a Westwood in my squad this yearly, and once I got back on my rotating 3rd striker/5th mid I am struggling to let it go again.

I should get some fodder shouldn't I!? The winner always does so don't they?

I tryed the opposite while Aguero was out and all that happened was benching Mahrez for his 15 points and played AoA last gw (midfield got total 10 points).
Going back to basics now 🙁

With my TV as high as it is now (107M, SV 103.6M), I could have a really strong first 11 if I stopped investing in my bench.

I'll take a look at it....

Did 2 early transfers drunk yesterday, which I am quite happy about but I fear injuries now...

    It leaves me with :

    Butland l Hennessey
    Kolarov l Bertrand l Moreno l Dawson l Souare
    KDB l Sanchez l Tadic l Marhez l Gosling
    Kane l Lukaku l Vardy

OFT / 4.2ITB to bring in Aguero when fit.

No hits needed if my players don's get injuries, right?
