Madness to use bench boost in a non DGW?

I'd imagine most of the serious players will use it at the sane time with similar teams so if your gamble works it would be huge bit it's a low percentage move

Personally I don't think it's madness. Are people even going to be able to get 15 DGW players?

Either way I'd hate to be approaching a double week without the option

it isn't for 15dgwers.. The appeal is that you can load up on the DGWers you want, and play them, as well as playing and keeping all of your SGW big hitters, without worry to leave them on bench in that week

      I don't think it is.

No guarantees you will even have a full bench during a DGW to use it on. And you're certainly not going to waste a transfer fixing your bench at that stage of the year..

No IMO. Surely you won`t be able to fit more than 11 DG players?

With hits you can. In theory they'll get the -4 back just for playing

That's a poor theory then. You completely forget about the 2p you'd get from playing your SGW player. But yeah, it's more like a -2 than a -4.

      2. Super Tim Cahill
        • 10 Years

True, unless you go totally double crazy (and start bringing in the Jordi Gomez type players and use a wildcard) there's no way you'd get more than about 8 or 9 even if 4 teams have a double.

That's not quite the full story though. During a DGW you'll be putting cheaper players in your starting XI because they play twice, and consequently be forced to leave out more expensive players because they play once. Bench boost enables you to get scores from those good players rather than the relatively cheaper players you have on the bench this week.

Bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush though so play it this week if you have a really strong bench I say..

    Good morning DZ!

Which GK should I play this week? Butland has been very good so far and will most likely get some save points. Ruddy has the highest CS potential, but Deeney and Ighalo seems unstoppable nowadays.

    A) Butland (MCI)
    B) Ruddy (wat)

They've only conceded 5 goals in their last 5 games vs (WBA, mci, SWA, che, ARS). Clean sheet chances are low both ways in my views, but I think there's less chance of a high scoring game & a possibility of a 0 or 1 pointer vs a drastically weaker attack.

Wouldn't be ideal playing defender vs an in-form KdB, Agüero, Sterling & the returning Silva.

I done some team surgery in gw8 and swapped Butland to Myhill as one tranny for -4...

    Myhill baps since gw8 = 25.

    Butland baps since gw8 = 42.

Baps lost from the tranny = 17... Including the -4 = 21 bapparoos.

    Current rank = 171,693.

Current rank if I Kept Butland = circa 74,000.

100k in the difference from that keeper transfer.

When I first heard bout chips I thought what a load of rubbish. However the planning for bench boost chip has added another level of strategy to the game, triple cap is simple to use and aoa the benefits are minimal so doesn't really matter, nailing the bench boost though will give serious players a huge advantage over the masses, not sure that's what FPL intended them for but hey, bring it on

Disagree. A carefully planned Bench Boost in a DGW with a wildcard out of it could net you 50+ points before you even add in goals, assists, saves, cleansheets etc.

          • 11 Years

You can't do a chip the same week as a wildcard, so you'd have to plan it before hand

    2. Tex
      • 11 Years
      10 years, 1 month ago

I was pretty against the chips before the season started.

Then it took me until week 7 to manage more than 42 points in a week and sitting 2.5m or something I felt they might be only thing that can save me from the most terrible season I've had yet. I became incredibly grateful that FPL had given me 3 chances to save myself from myself.

Fortunately things are on the up now and still have all except wildcard available.

Couple rivals in my mini league burned bench boost already for less than 10 points so feeling pretty good about still having them available.

All in I think bench boost is to be used when there's ridiculously strong fixtures or form in your team and failing that use on DGW

Ever since the new immigration laws here in the USA that allows Chilenos to come here without a VISA, I've had relatives (known and unknown) come visit in clusters. They have taken over my parent's house pretty much.

Anyway, one of them was kind enough to bring me the latest Chile jersey with the CONMEBOL Campeon Logo on, personalized just for me. 😉

I have Eriksen and I'm very comfortable with that selection but Coutinho is in really good form.

I'm also scrambling to work out a way for Kane too. I think both Spurs could be fast track to big scores over next few weeks.

I applied the same logic regarding Eriksen for the match vs Bournemouth. Although Eriksen is an integral part of the side, with Alli, Lamela, Dembele, & Son all improving this year (or have been great additions), Kane has been the main benefactor of the productivity the midfield's had this season. No other options from that side can really match Kane's output in my view.

Coutinho or Fimino would be my choice here, both more direct goal threats with similar creative compaison. Either way, I'd try to get Kane for the Newcastle match at home.

    Whatcha reckon DZ?

    Sanchez ->

    A) KDB
    B) Ozil
    C) Hazard
    D) Coutinho
    E) Silva

    Sanchez, Mahrez, Barkley, Bolasie, Surman
    Aguero, Kane, Lukaku

Ozil would be the sensible option but I think without Sanchez Ozil's output might decrease. I'd go Hazard.

that is possible, Ozil rely on people making all the runs...and i dont count on Giru to do that much

hopefully Ox / Ramsey can do the runs

I think I'm between KDB & Hazard as I fear for ARS with no Santi or Sanchez and being up against a BFS team who are not afraid to park the bus.

KDB feels the safer move given his form and City being more free scoring. But Chelsea have the fixtures and Haz is on pens and potentially playing up front.

        Hmmmm

Find some time to take out Williams when you can, horrible CS prospects in a team with woeful form. Also, you may have some trouble come Gw17 & 18 considering DVD has (TOT, ARS). Moreno or a Spurs defender could be great replacements there. What a cracking midfield though, very nice. Good luck 😉

honestly, I may hold onto Richards for a bit just for his attacking potential on the off chance that Garde turns them around a bit, but Williams is definitely first out the door (to Simpson possibly) with VvD to follow soon as a Moreno to free up cash

and to echo everyone else DVD 🙂

Going out on a limb here - but what about Willian as your Chelsea coverage?
Will leave enough cash for Vardy > Kane - as well as upgrading Mane the following GW?

I am currently mulling over something similar for this GW -although my aim would be to work in some Man City coverage for the following GW. The biggest fear is going in to this GW without any City coverage
