Newcastle United clash with Everton at St James’ Park in the penultimate slice of Premier League action this Boxing Day. The Magpies are unbeaten in three outings heading into this match-up, while the Toffees haven’t tasted victory in their previous quartet of league ties.

Despite besting Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool in the last four Gameweeks, Newcastle ranked joint-bottom for attempts (29), joint-third-bottom for shots on target (11) and joint-second-bottom for key passes (24), illustrating their inability to fashion many clear-cut scoring opportunities. On the defensive end, the Toon charted joint-second for goals conceded (seven) over that stretch, yet only two sides surrendered fewer big chances (four).

Everton’s offense delivered over the previous four Gameweeks, racking up seven goals while ranking joint-second for shots inside the box (37) and joint-fourth for big chances (nine). However, Roberto Martinez’s men shipped more goals (eight) than any other team and failed to register a solitary clean sheet. Moreover, the Merseysiders placed joint-fifth for shots inside the box conceded (34) and joint-sixth for big chances conceded (eight).

      I really couldn't care for it. I've the obvious necessities KDB, Mahrez, Kane & Lukaku but outside of that I'm doing my own thing. I think my rank has been effected by staying to close to the template.. 71 this week has proved that taking a chance sometimes pays off..

    Sometimes you can over think this game. If I had just shift the armband from Mahrez to Kane after Wild Rover said it's raining heavily in the north west I would have scored more points than staying up way past my bedtime researching the weather and drainage at Anfield and convincing myself it was OK to keep the armband on Mahrez. 😳

      Diva we all make mistakes.
      Can't beat yourself up, this is the first game Leicester have been shutout.

      Regardless of the weather, any City or Spurs attacker were the best option before the GW and will be after.

      Side note: Klopp had a history/reputation in Germany of doing crap against mediocre teams and doing really well in the 'big games'

      He has already proved that this season in the games vs MCY,CHE and now LEI

      I posted this last night in DZ, that we really should not just completely count Liverpool out especially at home.

        Thanks RubeRx. Sadly I didn't see your post. Ironically my decision to captain Mahrez was based on the more casual logic that he had delivered a return in every away game this season where he had played more than 45 minutes. That streak is now at an end.

    Anything you would change here? Too risky to bench 3 Spurs players?

    say i bought darmian at 5.6m.
    he is at 5.5m now, which is the currently selling price.

        Before his injury, he would shoot from inside the box, since he's returned, he's reverted to shooting from outside the box, which is not his range, just don't understand why he persists with doing this.
