@Mods...UFPL is such a head mash to get right and yet FFS doesn't offer any articles for us. Any reason ?

Isn't it similar to Sky regarding captains etc. What kind of articles would you want?
Squad selection? Would just make a "template" UFPL team.

    Schmeichel Butland
Dier Dawson van Dijk Daniels Williams
    Sanchez Payet Mahrez Siggy Alli
    Kane Aguero Vardy

    2 FTs, 1m itb

0.1 short for Vardy to Lukaku for 1 one of my transfers. Other than that move not sure which way to go. Any advice would be most welcome.

    Who would you bench?

Mahrez (cpl) Ozil (eve) Siggy (AVL) Silva (MNU) Alli (BOU)
Vardy (cpl) Kane (BOU) Aguero (MNU)

I'm thinking Alli? Better form away.

If u didn't already have mahrez I'd go with silva because of that palace defence but 1 attacker is enough imo given Leic aren't near as gung ho as before and he hasn't been producing.

Apart from bank holidays, I've only had 1 day off since October 🙁

Best way & for first day is jump on one of the hop-on hop-off city tour buses, great way to see all the sights. A day at the museums but the Pergamon is half closed (under rennovation) and is massively disappointing in that you still pay full price.
Nefertiti is at the Neues Museum.
Didn't go to the zoo but the aquarium is small but excellant with an insect (arium or whatever) upstairs.
      Kids going as well?

Went out with a couple of collegues one January and went on an inpromptu bar crawl.
Following morning the question was asked if we had any idea what time we got back, after a couple of poor guesses I produced a receipt for 3 beers at 4.30 am - you can get a beer anytime apparently. 🙂

If the wife fancies some shopping there's Kurfürstendamm street, worth a look for some cracking stores and there's bars so you can stop for a beer. I'm in retail and I loved it and walked down it in the middle of the night taking pictures of the shop window displays (saddo).
KaDeWe (Dept store) is mightily impressive to look at but that would be too much for a 3 day trip

Nope. 2 blanks, assuming we're talking about EPL, which we are. Last 5 GWS- 2 goals, 2 assists, 7 baps. Averaging just under 7pts per game. I sold him this week but away to Everton I would definitely like to have him

    Huge benching issue this week.

    Ozil
    Payet
    Alli
    Mahrez
    Siggy
    Vardy
    Aguero
    Kane

    Pick one.
    It's hard right? 🙂

If Alli plays 90 vs Dortmund maybe him as he's carrying a slight injury? Or maybe Vardy. He's slightly off the boil lately but I quite fancy him vs Palace tbh. Nightmare!

With 8 weeks to go My ML leader is exactly 100 points ahead, has used all his chips & used his Wildcard this week to match up my players. So with the same team, not good with captain choices but with a wildcard, bench boost & TC can I realistically catch him?

Its gunna be tough but its doable yes.. but you cant afford any slip ups at all really if that gap gets any bigger you're cooked

    2. Scratch
      • 16 Years
      9 years, 11 months ago

Well doable. If you have 15 dgw players with bench boost you're probably expecting close to 150 points

    3. Atwood
      • 15 Years
      9 years, 11 months ago

Depends how 'hardcore' of a FPL player he is. If he knows anything about DGW's and blanks etc and plans for them, he'll probably have it wrapped up.

If he doesn't, I don't see why you can't pull back that gap. Hard, but definitely not impossible.

    @ TM....Back again...

Sub ins is the single biggest problem with UFPL....

knowing the best picks in the game is fairly easy, but the key to UFPL is actually taking out some good picks to ensure you replace them with other good picks for MD2/3

It's no good having Alli, Siggy, Mahrez, Ozil, Barkley, Firmino, Arnie if most of them play MD1...The tactic is to drop some and replace them with loans for good players who play MD2/3 to replace any mids who fail in MD1 (same with all positions). And the most cost effective way is to do two or three week loans with several players.

    Does that make sense ?

      • 15 Years

Flat day today Wakey, everyone had the same players and changed Capt to Kane as expected. Tomorrow won't exactly be a day of massive diffs either unless Leics defs get attacking points ans everyone has one but there is a good mix of Huth, Simpson, Fuchs and Morgan

Yes it is. The four players I had today couldn't have been much better for potential...and that's all we can do.

You did say, but I've forgotten. How did you do last year ?

It doesn't show in GW history so I can't actually remember now but it was some where just outside top 100 I reckon and about 11th in the beta test year before.
Loans are maybe the way to go this year as they are much better value now - I reckon the 2/3 GW loans could be decisive especially with the DGW's.
            WR touches on this below.

It's a bit different this week because most already have Toby, Alli and Kane and also a def plus Mahrez and Vardy tomorrow. Going forwards loans are the only real way to make gains but as they are punts that cost points then you have to expect losses too

I went for Costa over Kane for no other reason than he was a diff. He served me well for a while...however, being as he's a loony I've lost my diff...

            Costa > Kane
            or

Planners do better in UFPL. Surely you don't need an article to work out the days teams play? You said the players to pick are easy so picks them based on the days. Those who don't plan get bad subbing choices. Not sure you can complain about the number of articles that FFS put out and any articles would just make teams more alike.

It could do with a serious plug next season and even the fact you can join any time and have a go at the 1k monthly prize - it needs more players TM.

More players would play if it wasn't country limited. Needing to be around for lineups loses me playing. Being casual and not logging in is also a big no for casuals unlike FPL. More players would just make winning much harder.

More players means the games future is secured. Being around for line-ups is over emphasised, I mean you pick your team for FPL and rely on auto subs if things go wrong.
You've 25 players to pick from so take a punt on MD1 & have the certs on you're bench to come on but at least you have some teamsheets before you make your final decision.
It's not the only country ltd FF game out there and at the end of the day it's affiliated to game we're all playing on this site - a UK based site playing a UK based game!

The games future is fine whilst the money in smashes the money out. Obviously they could try to get more players by making more prizes available or similar. Day 1 is easy although you can your team and a reserve if someone is out. Days 2/3 mean subbing point for a 0 if they don't play. I wouldn't be around for lineups so your teamsheet point has no merit in my case and many others.
Anyone can win FPL and collect the prize. Sky is more UK based than UFPL as many countries are eligible to play from.

I played the Beta. Need to manage it every day or else you give others a massive advantage. Triggerlips struggled with lineups/teamsheets and probably gave up. Even missing one day with a captain or team changes makes a big difference.

Didn't think of that. GW 37, and 38 aren't there. So I'm assuming there's two play off rounds, so top 4.

How does that work, is it random or seeded based on league rank?

          1vs 4, 2 vs 3. Normally it's top 8 but if you have GW36 fixtures then it's top 4.

So, 11 green arrows out of 14 & 5 in a row. GW rank increase from 1.6m in that time to 657k. Still have Mahrez (C) and Vardy to play so might be even higher come tomorrow.

It'll be tough. You're about 100 pts behind the top 100k. If you were chasing in a mini league it would be easily possible but there's over .5M people you need to overtake and not all of them will do badly. If you've still got you BB & TC chips there's a slight chance but probably only a couple of %. That said i've moved from 300k to 100k in the last 4 weeks so it is doable with a consistent run.

The Yaya injury made me get Eriksen. My planned TF was Cedric to Toby A. All very annoying, like the whole season.

Sitting at the highest OR of my season thus far, just outside the top 200k.

Been a tough season, but nice to finally see some research paying dividends these past few months or so.

If only I hadn't confirmed Sanchez -> Hazard for a -4 in GW 7 right before his hat trick... that move sent my season into a tailspin, took awhile to recover.

I'm too tired to wait for the adorable puppy. NN. Have a good dead zone!

If Vardy blanks tomorrow (possibly even if he scores?) how does Vardy > Mitrovic sound? Already used my WC so all transfers need to be with DGW in mind and Newcastle's next 4 fixtures look pretty decent.

              Vardy against Palace is tasty.

I dunno if it's that tasty. Sure, they haven't been their best recently but they aren't as bad at defending as the bottom 4 teams and I reckon they're going to find a bit of form again soon.

Big differential. Doubt many with go that way. Ighalo looks a chance to replace Vardy if you can cover GW35 blanks.

Hmm, Watford fixtures not too good short term though. Probably too risky to do Mitrovic because there may be rotation. Need some differential!

Vardy might change your mind tomorrow. Rather get Defoe or similar.

Yeah, Defoe might be better. I thought of him but for some reason thought Sunderland didn't have a DGW but they do don't they?

I was keeping Sanchez as differential but lost patience and just traded for Siggy.

Looks like his price rising in next 15 mins

He was a must buy 2 weeks ago. Bit pointless jumping on bandwagon now.

Think you will need both payet and firmino in coming weeks.
