The ICC World T20 moves into its third phase from Tuesday (21st March). This takes a look at the fixtures and offers those playing the game a new article for cricket discussions.

Fixtures

22nd March, Tuesday  –  New Zealand Vs Pakistan, Mohali

23rd March, Wednesday –  England Vs Afghanistan, Delhi & India Vs Bangladesh, Bengaluru

25th March, Friday – Pakistan Vs Australia, Mohali & South Africa Vs West Indies, Nagpur

26th March, Saturday – Bangladesh Vs New Zealand, Kolkatta &  Sri Lanka Vs England, Delhi

27th March, Sunday – Afghanistan Vs West Indies, Nagpur & India Vs Australia, Mohali

28th March, Monday- South Africa Vs Sri Lanka, Delhi

Discussion Points

  • From this we can see that New Zealand, Pakistan, Bangladesh play early on and their fixtures end early. So it would be good to load their players and save on some transfers.
  • Feroz shah kotla (New Delhi), Eden Gardens  (Kolkata), Chinna swamy (Bangalore) are slow pitches. But Mohali,Chandigarh is a little bit fast, skiddy, bouncy and grassy.

    I am going to punt on Warner instead of Khawaja/Maxwell tomorrow 🙂

      could be worth a shot.

      I will either just bring in Watson to go along with my 4 Pakistan players, or do something like Khawaja and Warner. I am just short of the budget for Watson & Khawaja and short of batsmen if I do Watson & Zampa.

        I opted for Sami instead of Afridi...although I lost on points directly but made up by being able to have Ashwin yesterday and tom. I can have Warner! 😀

      Already have Afridi, Amir, Shehzad. Best to save the transfer actually and load up on WI assets preferrably Gayle Bravo Russell Badree who are going to cost lots.

      I may just get Zampa to tackle that.

        Haha. I wanted Zampa too. But I realized I have 3 bowlers already and the only way to get zampa is transferring Santner out only to get him tomorrow. I can get rid of Root, Raina, Roy, Shahzad only. If one of them becomes Watson, the other must be Allrounder/Batsman. I actually want Zampa more than Maxwell or Khawaja.

            Nice to know. I got in Khawaja and Watson and capped Watson. Any transfer I could make which is a logical one is to get Shahzad out for a WK or Roy out for a 80k Batsman who isnt Khawaja.

      Watson will still be an essential asset even is batting at 3 or 4... the change definitely promotes Warner into the essential category though, I love how aggressive he is and when opening in the power play, he could literally score anything if he keeps his wicket for 6 overs!

      Warner and Khawaja with the hard, new ball... that should be a very high scoring power play!

      Bravo, Russ & ABdV seem essential in evening game today. You may want to use one extra sub to cover a differential appeal. 11 for remaining 5 games should be enuff I guess..

          Good points.although I am skeptical of QDK coz Nagpur - a slow pitch. I dont trust QDK on such surfaces. Hence prefer ABdV.

          Having said that, current form favours QDK.

            Yeah, that's fair enough. Trying to accommodate someone with only one skill at the 120K price who isn't *particularly* in form is just something that's difficult for me to justify. Although I understand I'll probably be in the minority, as ABdV has the X factor and people are prepared to look past everything, which I do get, but I'm passing.

    How many transfers does everyone have left?

    My OR rank is 29th, but I know for a fact I've used a lot more transfers than the majority of players with only 12 remaining

    Definitely going to have to play Quality over Quantity in some of the remaining matches.

    I'm thinking WI and then SL are the teams for me to target, with 2 games for the price of one looking the best value.

      I have 17 left and I'm ranked 518.

      I will be targeting the WI players too for sure. Plenty of players that ply trade with the ball and bat.

      Given I've got so many left I guess I'm free to burn a few. I already have 3 Pak for tonight, and was thinking of adding 2 Aus. Might go 3 now!

        I definitely feel light with only 1 Aus and 2 Pak, so adding Aussies makes sense to me... they're definitely the team I'm worried about not owning (esp Khawaja and Warner)

      It's more the squad balance that I'm struggling with... all the players I want to have or want to keep are bloody all-rounders! (Bravo, Russell, Watson, Shakib, Anderson etc)

      I have Munro, Sodhi, Roy and Bumrah as my 70k enablers... but they all either bowl out or bat in the top 4, so are decent to own (even if they haven't all performed as of yet).

      I was going to do Shakib to Watson and then bring Shakib back in later... not going to bother now.

      I will only have Amir and Afridi for this next game, so I'm hoping for early Amir wickets and Afridi to do a bit in both innings.

      Amir(C) failed miserably last time... but I'm brave (possibly foolish) enough to go again... Come on Pakistan!!

      Ballsy! ... he's the Aussie bowler I've wanted since the start of the tournament, but I couldn't afford to use another valuable transfer bringing him in today. Definitely a good differential to have, though I wouldn't have captained him personally.

    Watson not opening is actually really convinient for me. For all my planing I got my team balance wrong and would have needed an extra transfer to bring him in. In the end I could bring in 2 AUS batsman.
