Welcome to the first Community Round Up of the new look Fantasy Football Scout. While the website’s design may have changed, the imminent double Gameweeks continue to dominate discussion, as they have for much of last month. Our community writers were on hand to offer the latest tips on strategy and key targets for the busy fixture schedule, while our hot topic posters weigh up the value of Alexis Sanchez and the fall out from an international break that saw two popular goalkeepers sidelined.

The Community Articles

Last week’s news that Everton and Crystal Palace will face a pair of fixtures in both Gameweeks 33 and 34 prompted Balders to rewrite his must-read double Gameweek strategy guide.

Bowstring the Carp cast an eye over some key players to acquire as he looked ahead to April’s games and back on March’s top stars.

For those looking to take a punt this weekend, ahead of a Gameweek 33 wildcard, The Sarjeant’s colour coded look at team form will be essential reading as will Bolivian Seaman’s analysis of the latest fan forum mutterings.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

With so many premium-priced players looking enticing as double Gameweek 34 options, a key dilemma to emerge – according to The Hindu Monkey – is whether to stick with Spurs striker Harry Kane or opt for Arsenal’s midfielder Alexis Sanchez.

As Draftcup points out Sanchez could be a shrewd purchase but his hefty price tag is certain to deter many punters.

In the search for inspiration ahead of the flurry of double Gameweeks, the community looked through the mists of time to remember the key lessons they’ve learned from previous bumper fixture Gameweeks. Among those with plenty of experience of tackling tricky fixture lists is those riding high in our latest Hall of Fame update.

Bonus points take on an extra importance during a double Gameweek, particularly when considering where to place the armband. Balders has also been busy offering some expert analysis on the Fantasy Premier League’s Bonus Point System that is used to allocate bonus points.

The international break proved heartbreaking for two popular goalkeepers amongst the community, Jack Butland of Stoke and Newcastle’s Rob Elliot. Butland has provided a glut of points over the season to his many investors, while Elliot was a key transfer target ahead of Newcastle’s two home matches during Gameweek 34. Shortly after the extent of Butland’s injury was known, we assessed the weekend options for his many owners.

Finally, thanks for all the positive feedback about the new design of FFScout. Among our favourite reactions was Bedknobs and Boomsticksfeeling that he was stepping into a famous Roal Dahl novel.

The Members Tables

Mbilton’s latest table takes an in-depth look at Everton players’ performances over the last six matches to find the best targets ahead of their three double Gameweeks.

Meanwhile, Kushal21 has been visiting row z to find out the Premier League’s worst shooters.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

In addition, with blanks and double Gameweeks now here it is wise to sort by matches rather than Gameweeks to give a fairer gauge of form.

The Community Tournaments

Jarvish’s Frequent Posters Cup reaches the last 16 stage in Gameweek 32 with the previous round’s highest scorer Icon facing ShowMeTheMane, while Spineless Weasel’s encounter with Pompeyfan is another eye catching match up.

Kings of Lyon’s newly-launched Going Out With a Bang league has the dual aim of providing an enticing end of season competition for those in the rankings doldrums, as well as some intriguing analysis of how the community aims to use chips and wildcards between Gameweek 32 and 38.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

If you're feeling maverick you could consider Brady, or Iwobi. The latter is really an I'll-feel-smart-if-it-comes-off kind of punt and Brady is also, a little.

Last piece of my jigsaw is whether to bench Alli or Sigurdsson. Thinking Sigurdsson may get more against a Stoke defence without most of its regular rearguard. But am I overestimating Liverpool's ability to keep Spurs at bay. Playing Alli seems more fun as well.

Swans were abysmal even against Villa, whereas Spurs are one of the top teams in the league. I'd go Alli easily.

        Gone for Payet.

Had the exact money to do Eriksen and Dawson to Bellerin and Payet. Thought it'd be rude not to take advantage of that pre price rise.

I'm even more upset than I was about my ill-fated Neil Taylor punt last week as it burnt an extra free transfer leaving me with only one this week. Butland getting injured has completely ruined my pre-WC last hurrah so I'm a miserable Payet non-owner. Suspect it's going to cost me big time as I'd probably captain him if I had him. 🙁

      Straight As.

Toughest is Simpsons, but I'd double up on Leceister before playing Otamendi. Can see a lot of goals in that game, maybe a 4-1, or 4-2 to City. Leicester must have a good chance of another 1-0. Looked very solid in 2016.

Plus Otamendi is such an imbecile, he'll probably get sent off conceding a penalty to help Demichelis win a bet.

Think I'm about to pull the trigger on this:

    Cech / Robles
    Smalling / Sakho / Gabriel / Dann / Simpson
    Payet / Sanchez / Bolasie / Lanzini / Mahrez
    Kun / Lukaku / Kane

    2.5 ITB

    GW33: 4 doubles
    GW 34: 13 doubles with Bolasie > Firm/Cout and Kane > Sturridge
GW 35: Dann > Azpi fields 10 players. Could take a hit for Smalling/Lanzini, but want them for 37
    GW 36: Save
GW 37: Kun > Costa and Mahrez/Sanchez > whatever doubler is in the best form to field 11 doublers

I'm telling you right now - These will not work out. You can't plan transfers 5 weeks in advance - Injuries, Form, Playing Time can all change within that time frame. I appreciate the work you put into it and ideally it would be nice if it all came off.

Like I said I appreciate the work put into it. It's just so unpredictable (as a long term player you know that) - In the past I have done something similar and when I look back it never comes off the same way (for many of the reasons I said before).

Equally it's better to have a plan and make a change or two, than not have a plan and suddenly find yourself completely screwed. Equally my planning over the last few weeks has gone without a hitch, so there is always that possibility.

            1. Pumpkinhead
              • 11 Years

I'm not suggesting no plan at all - a gw or two is fine - however, with two dgw and one gw where some teams don't have games within a planned transfer strategy is pushing the notion that it could be possible.

    2. The Legend of Casiraghi

This is a wildcard I assume?
Only question mark for me is the Palace buy-in - awful form, awful fixtures. The only advantage they have is a double next week - but your staking Bolasie and Dann getting a load of extra points from home to Everton. After that their double in gmwk 34 is horrific, so you'd get at least 4 more points with other players with better fixtures. Then they don't play in gmwk 35, and you're essentially left a man short even after transfering one out, so are going to take a hit, let's say 4 points for that week too.

So is it really worth taking a potential 8 point hit, for the bonus score of Dann and Bolasie against Everton next week?

I'm steering clear of Palace personally.

My plans for Dann and Bolasie are both mentioned in the post. Neither would be around for 35, and only Dann in 34.

No I think they've been missed out. I've read a few quotes, I don't think anyone is out apart from Rooney. Luke Shaw steps up his recovery! Google is your best bet 🙂

I'll be benching one, and taking one out for Payet.

Do you mean transfer Firmino for Payet? I wouldn't sell Firmino. After this week, Liverpool have 2 doubles and play in gmwk 35, with reasonable fixtures + he's probably their best player.

I'll be WCing next week so it'll be fine.

I'll be choosing one of Firmino, Coutinho, Lallana for my WC; I think Coutinho might just take it as Firmino might be switched around a bit with players back from injury.

    WC GW32 Draft

    Darlow Robles
    Bellerin Reid Sakho Simpson Delaney
    Sanchez Ozil Coutinho Payet Mahrez
    Aguero Lukaku - 5.8

Third striker up to 5.8? Wickham, Deeney, Rashford?

How about this WC team for GW 34 playing BB:

    DDG / Robles
    Bellerin / Moreno / Rojo / Cresswell / Darmian
    Firmino / Payet / Lennon / Sanchez / Yaya
    Aguero / Welbeck / Lukaku

Subject to fitness/rotation, I think all 15 should play twice!

Wij is a pure punt. Way to inconsistent to be anything else. Not to fear Payet will do what Payet does - Score points.

Payet misses GWK 35. That's a big factor as the watchlist looks at the next four.

It is DOUBLY silly at the moment, because Benitez has the positioning in midfield arse abiout tit - and Sissoko is nowhere near his best form. When Sissoko is, Wijnaldum often scores.

    H2H league:

We have the exact same front 7 with Ozil, Alli, Mahrez, Siggy - Aguero, Kane, Vardy. Both captained Kane last round. I will captain Aguero now and probably him too.

My defence is Hennessey - Alderweireld, Williams, Simpson (VVD, Moreno)
His are Lloris/DDG - Simpson, Wollscheid, Jagielka (Daniels, CBJ)

Both of us have 1FT. If i get Curtois or Azpi, do you think i'll have the best chances? Or would you have used your WC if the H2H is more important than overall (I'm on 30k but its in the H2H the money are 😉 )
