Chelsea are hit hard by injuries at both ends of the pitch. Manuel Pellegrini is still uncertain over a couple of City’s key players for the midweek clash with PSG, whilst Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson concedes he’s still playing through the pain barrier.

Aston Villa
Caretaker boss Eric Black revealed that Ciaran Clark sat out Aston Villa’s 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Chelsea because of injury:

“Ciaran told us he was feeling his calf. We tested it this morning but he was ruled out. I am hoping it won’t be too long. But we will have a better idea tomorrow when we get them in again.”

Bournemouth
Having suffered a hamstring complaint with DR Congo during the international break, Benik Afobe missed Bournemouth’s loss to Manchester City. Eddie Howe believes the former Arsenal frontman may face up to four weeks in the treatment room:

“Benik could be out for a month. I don’t know if it will be that long but I have put that time scale on it. It is a low-grade hamstring strain. We are all disappointed he did it. It happened while he was training with Congo so we hope to get him back soon.”

Howe also offered an update on Adam Smith, who was forced off with a groin injury he’s been nursing for six weeks:

“Adam has been carrying it for around six weeks and has been managing to play through the games. It just got a little too much for him against City.”

Chelsea
Guus Hiddink confirmed that Chelsea will monitor the progress of John Terry (Achilles tendon) and Gary Cahill (tendon) after the centre-back pairing picked up injuries before the Villa encounter:

“John had a little problem in his Achilles tendon. Gary came from the England v Holland game and appeared to have an injury. The situation was surprising for me, he also had a tendon problem. He didn’t play but he came back with an injury, that’s the reason he wasn’t in the squad today, but we’ll see what happens with his progress in the upcoming days.”

Elsewhere in the Blues camp, Willian wasn’t in contention because of a knock, while Hiddink fears that Loic Remy will play no further part this campaign due to the tendon problem he aggravated in the first half at Villa Park:

“It is a tendon, a groin problem. I think he will be out for a long period.”

Remy’s absence, along with Diego Costa’s latest suspension, could well bring Alexandre Pato into the first XI for the first time since arriving on loan earlier in the year. The Brazilian bagged a goal and assist off the bench after replacing Remy early on against Villa and looks in line for a rare start away to Swansea next weekend.

Liverpool
Although Jordan Henderson continues to play through the pain barrier as he contends with a chronic heel problem, the Liverpool captain insists he is improving week by week:

“Sometimes I can be my own worst enemy if I’m playing with an injury or different things. I feel as though now I’m starting to get back to the physicality — that’s a big part of my game — and when that’s correct then everything else seems to flow much better. After games it still gets a bit sore but it’s much better than how it was. When it completely goes will be whenever I have a rest but I’m not sure if I’ll have one of them any time soon. Until then I just have to manage it. I felt good against Spurs and I feel better physically all the time and I’m getting back to where I want to be.”

With eight fixtures in the final six Gameweeks, including a couple of doubles, Liverpool’s key protagonists are on our wildcard radars. Although he’s started 13 of the Reds’ last 15 league matches, Henderson has struggled as a Fantasy forced under Jurgen Klopp and earned two goals and as many assists since the German’s arrival in Gameweek 9. With Roberto Firmino still nursing a hamstring problem, Philippe Coutinho’s weekend strike has earned his plenty of new owners since the weekend, though Adam Lallana (7.3), with three goals and as many assists in seven, has also impressed amongst the Reds’ mid-price options.

Manchester City
Manuel Pellegrini admitted that Manchester City’s midweek Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain might arrive too soon for injured duo Joe Hart (calf) and Yaya Toure (heel):

“Tomorrow we are going to start thinking about the next game and we are going to see what happens with Joe and Yaya. It may be difficult for them to be fit for Wednesday, but we will see if they improve in the next few days.”

In light of the Sky Blues’ three clean sheets in four outings ahead of their double Gameweek 34 (che, new), their back line invites investment from wildcarders. In the absence of Vincent Kompany, Nicolas Otamendi (6.5) represents the only secure route into Man City’s rearguard, so Hart’s return to the side would afford us greater flexibility in sourcing defensive coverage.

Shifting our focus onto Man City’s midfield, Kevin De Bruyne reaffirmed his status as the choice pick with a goal against the Cherries, yet his big-ticket valuation (10.2) may yet mean the 8.5-priced Toure remains a viable option. In the event that the Ivorian powerhouse can prove his fitness before the weekend, some managers might be tempted by a midfielder that mustered the joint-fourth-most attempts (12) across his previous four starts.

Manchester United
Louis van Gaal said that Daley Blind – who was withdrawn at the 82-minute mark against Everton because of fatigue:

“Daley Blind has played nearly all the matches so I need to give him rest. I don’t want to because he is playing very well. I shall give him two days off so then he is alright I think. He has played every match this season, more or less, and he is at the end of his strengths. I shall give him two days off this week, and then he is OK again.”

The Dutch boss also explained that Marcos Rojo was replaced at the break after struggling with jet lag:

“I think [Marcos] Rojo had a problem with his jet-lag, so I changed him. He came back [from international duty] on Thursday but I had to play him.”

With Luke Shaw still sidelines, Rojo is clearly Van Gaal’s favoured option at left-back, but the fact he’s not lasted the distance in four of Man United’s last five match-ups is a concern for prospective investors prior to their double Gameweek 34 (AVL & CRY). As the Red Devils gear up for an 11-day period in which they embark on four fixtures, Chris Smalling and David De Gea serve as the safest routes into a defence that’s accrued two more home clean sheets (10) than the rest of the field.

Norwich City
Alex Neil informed reporters that Russell Martin missed Norwich’s win over Newcastle United due to a minor injury:

“He picked up a knock I think on Thursday, which was disappointing for us because Russell has done well, but I thought Andre Wisdom came in and handled (Moussa) Sissoko very well.”

Swap Dier out for a DGW'er
I would be tempted to do Mignolet > de Gea too
United have better games but that will mean you have no GK in GW35

Transfer in 35? De Gea out for Lloris/Courtois is my plan before WC in 36. Guessing you want Kane back though...

Unless you plan on getting Kane or someone else in... just feel going without United defence could be costly.

This was also my plan, but there is no way I can follow through with that. He's hardly disgracing himself but the return of Welbeck and emergence of Iwobi have changed their M.O. No Giroud to aim for anymore

Out of the following, are any of the following worth taking a 4 point hit? if so which 2 would you select from Barkley, Coleman, Dann, Bolasie, Cabaye (Would currently get the nod ahead of either Dier or Cresswell, as well as Willian)

Cheers Spud, nope, wasn't pushed on Liverpool for GW32 so I decided I'd wait and see.. Looking at getting one for 35 though! Sturridge in for Lukaku maybe..

Only gripe about the week is that I had been considering KdB all week instead of Ozil and copped out of it, made the trade now though! 😀

United.. I just can't get behind a LvG team.. Shaw was a good fpl option, Martial could have been if he was played up front (if United had a better LW than Depay).. Smalling + DDG too expensive for what they offer imo, although DGW34 looks great for them. Don't trust Rashford, Rooney or Mata..

Yeah. I'm just p -offed that all the players I wanted on WC scored this GW...Delaney/Klose/Coutinho/Bellerin....

WC this week so? Shaping up nicely? Many DGWs?

Aagh, standard. Boring myself to death. At the end of the day all the serious players will score similar I reckon.

All the teams on here similar. I think there are more scope for movement in 35/36.

Agreed, but this season might be different with the chips propelling some potentially less serious players up into the top 10k early..

This "templated" WC could just be FFS taking the power back, and those that panicked earlier in the season will lose out..

That's why I WC'ed last week, only differential I could see was doing it early.. I got lucky!
Kun TC chip this week now to try capitalise or Lukaku to keep pace..

I think you can get a 11 player template and have a few punts in there too 🙂

The amount of different players floating about in WC teams in ludicrous. Not sure you even see this sort of variety at the start of a season.

        Hard to gauge.

Think some may be too hooked on the DGW players, overlooking those who are only playing once. As long as high ownership players aren't dumped for rubbish DGW players, it SHOULD be okay for most.

    Sanchez Payet Coutinho Lanzini Mahrez
    Aguero Lukaku Kane

Don't like Darlow but not much you can do about that. Would make sure you're 100% with Cresswell, though. Downgrade him to Rojo (or Darmian) and bring in Robles?

Maybe downgrade cresswell to Reid, then Darlow to Mignolet and Sakho to Janmaat. Do you have enough funds though?

STill thinking WC36 is the best bet for my team and where I am in ML. But, did another "due diligence" WC33 draft, just to give myself options. Thoughts?

    Robles, Mings
    Bellerin, Smalling, Gabriel, Sahko, Dann
    Sanchez, KDB, Payet, Coutinho, Lennon
    Kun, Lukaku, Mitrovic

    0.2M ITB

    GW35: Lukaku+Dann->PVA + Defoe or Pato

    Wildcarded in 32

    ------------Robles----------------
    --Jagielka Dann Otamendi--
    Bolasie Ozil Sanchez Payet
    -Lukaku(TC) Aguero Martial-
    --------------------------------------
    Darlow Lanzini Sakho Bellerin

    1ft. 3.2 itb

Plan was to save ft this week, then Dann Bolasie to Smalling Firmino for free and BB in 34. Something else I've considered I've is Ozil to KDB but I'm thinking Arsenals remaining home fixtures are just too good. Also have a niggling doubt that I'm too rigid with my original plan and overlooking something more obvious. So, what do you prefer?

A: Save ft as planned, then Dann & Bolasie to Smalling & Firmino next week
B: Ozil to KDB this week.
    C: Something else

It looks like you have a fair few holes for GW35, not sure you can justify using a transfer on someone that's not playing in GW35?

Lukaku, Martial, Payet, Bolasie, Lanzini, Jagielka all with blanks, along with Smalling if you get him in. I think saving and moving Dann+Bolasie for Firmino+Def is the way to go. That still leaves you with only 10 players so you might want to make another move too, possibly ditching Martial?

    Getting closer

last 2 things on my mind atm

    a) whether to double on Pool mids with Couts and Firm
    b) whether to get Kirchoff as my SGWer in readiness for 37 and save a transfer or stick with Simpson and use a FT to shift him later

Can't see me using Danny past GW35 though

Smalling (or Otamendi?) Bellerin Gabriel Sakho Simpson

    Aguero Martial Lukaku

    Improvements?

Thinking about Barkley's recent form and how the stats are used to damn him, so decided to compare to Mahrez.
Using the stats against him, he's averaged 4.8 pts per game over his last 15 games.
No need to worry about dropping him then.

Same, I knew it was a punt bringing him in but he's pretty explosive and capable of big hauls regardless of what his stats currently look like.

The fact he also has 3 DGWs and is nailed on sealed it for me

    Here's a new one...no WC team!

    Lloris Henessey
    Gabriel Dier Morgan Bertrand Rangel
    Ozil Payet Mahrez Sigurdsson Lingard
    Kane Lukaku Aguero

    2.2m, 1 FT

I'm screwed. Is this a decent plan to make myself less screwed by GW34?

    GW33: Ozil + Sigurdsson > Sanchez + Lennon (-4)
    GW34: Mahrez + Bertrand + Lloris > Cech + Sakho + Coutinho (-8)

Or too many hits? Plan to BB in GW34 if possible. Otherwise can always just aim to have about 10 DGW guys and TC34/BB37 .

just had the same post beneath you lol

Ozil to Sanchez is tough for a minus when youre already being stretched for DGW players but depends if youd captain him?

Yea that's a tough one but I think I have to concede on that. Was always planning to do it but after his explosion, it needs to be done. And yes would captain Sanchez, maybe even triple captain him if I don't pursue a BB34.

        Like you, I feel a BB34 doesn't work for my team :/

No WC (yes I know...) so having to stretch my FTs and take the odd hit.

    Team atm:

    Hart*, Boruc

    Monreal*, Simpson, Toby, Wollschield, Williams

    Payet*, Ozil*, Mahrez, ARNY, Alli

    Welbz*, Aguero*, VARDY

So only 6DGW players but thinking of using my two FTs this week on Lukaku & Lennon for Arny/Vardy?

Then probably taking a -4 for Coutinho/Sakho for Alli/Wolly for 10 DGW players and BB?

    Yay?/Nay?/Go away?

Williams Boruc Simpson Mahrez would be your bench players that week then right? Do you think those players with fixtures are worth the BB?

Quite similar to yours as my bench that week would be Rangel Morgan Lloris Mahrez likely.
