Rounding off the first wave of fixtures this Gameweek, Stoke City attempt to curtail Tottenham Hotspur’s title charge at the Britannia Stadium. The Potters suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Liverpool last time out, while Spurs lost just once in their last 12 fixtures.

Stoke’s attacking recruits have come up short in home fixtures this season, charting fifth-bottom for attempts (189), bottom for shots inside the box (91) and joint-fifth-bottom for shots on target (53). Conversely, their rearguard has provided a solid foundation, conceding the seventh-fewest shots inside the box (98) and the fourth-fewest big chances (18). Moreover, the fact they’ve conceded the fewest attempts from set plays (35) in home ties could be significant given that they’re pitted against the team ranked top for set-play goals (17).

Aside from recording nine goals in their previous four outings, Tottenham ranked top for attempts (70), top for big chances (11) and top for shots on target, limiting the clean-sheet prospects of the hosts. Looking strictly at their attacking prowess away from White Hart Lane, no team has managed more attempts (233) or shots on target (88) in road clashes than the Lilywhites, portending a high-tempo contest at Stoke.

Did people really get rid of Alli, Kane and Toby A for a bunch of rotation risk Liverpool and injured Everton players and can't score a goal Man Utd players and too scared to win Arsenal players?

    What did they expect?

I hate being the a-hole who agrees, but Spurs are the best team in the league...so exactly, what was expected?

FWIW i had 8 DGW players but kept Toby, Alli, Kane and Mahrez. Chasing a league title and scoring for fun. I could not remove them.

Perhaps for Stoke and Man United not to capitulate and ship seven goals in two games or Ali to score twice for the first time in his Spurs career and get his biggest haul of the season to follow Toby A's biggest haul of the season.

      Perhaps that.

But haven't we all just ignored the golden rule of "form over fixtures" which gets talked about on any normal gameweek - particularly when we were still trying to look at GW33-35 as a block? were Liverpool going to start keeping clean sheets & Spurs going to stop? Were Lukaku & Martial going to start scoring & Kane stop?
I'll confess to being weak-minded and letting the huge numbers of DGW players people on here were talking about getting influence how I wildcarded in the end.
Although rotation-free big wins for Liverpool & Arsenal this week will change it all again.

it's not even hindsight as all the risks were laid out beforehand - city & liverpool rotation risks due to playing in europe, utd's inability to score goals, everton & liverpool who rarely keep clean sheets.

The real rotation risk for Liverpool wasn't really obvious till they progressed past Dortmund. That's been a bit of a killer tbh. I'd already committed to Liverpool players by then, albeit just a couple of them. Clearly should have kept Kane over going or Lukaku's four matches. Can't say even if I'd kept Ali that I would have played him. Lots didn't by the looks of it and are now relying on a DGW not turning up again for him to come off the bench.

Chasing premium DGW players not already in your team on wildcard is fools gold. Too much rotation. Will we learn and apply?

I don't regret doing it because bench boost with millions of DGW players was too much fun to pass up but I will certainly think twice before clearing out players from the two teams fighting for the title if such a situation arises again.

Naaa, there is a lesson learnt here in not going all in on DGW players, at least not dropping all studs from the hottest/top team. Next year, or even in gw37, I imagine quite a few of us will not categorically sell all sgw players. We should keep the few prolific scorers, even if they have fewer games.

Just take a -24 to get the form players back in if you have to and enjoy the final 4 gwks.

Fantasy football is all about form not if Milner has a double gamesweek or PVA is essential because he happens to play twice
