Next up this Friday afternoon, it’s time for our regular Sky Sports Focus article. As always, we bring you the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, bonus point beneficiaries, the transfer trends and our Watchlist before taking a look at the Scout team and our future plans.

Gameweek 37 Man of the Match Awards

Listed below are the players that caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters from last weekend’s fixtures achieving the Man of the Match award (worth an additional five points).

Gameweek 37 Bonus Points

Four goalkeepers picked up bonus last week. Joel Robles managed to earn bonus in both his fixtures – the Toffees stopper made 14 saves, though still conceded on five occasions. Leading the way for keepers are Petr Cech, Jack Butland and Heurelho Gomes with 16 bonus points each.

In defence 15 players grabbed bonus; ten for tackles and seven for completed passes. Centre-backs Gabriel and Federico Fernandez both managed to pick up both despite playing just one game. Simon Francis is the top scoring defender in terms of bonus with 26 points – the equivalent of five clean sheets.

In midfield there were 17 beneficiaries in total: eight for tackling and 12 for passes. Four players managed to pick up four bonus points over the double but the star of the show was Lucas with six – the Brazilian now has 40 for the season and is second to only Cesc Fabregas with 60.

Wayne Rooney managed to pick up passing bonus to fly the flag for forwards and is one of the few front men to flirt with bonus on a semi-regular basis over the last few seasons.

Fantasy Football Scout members can access all information regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

Watchlist

Here I aim to highlight a few differential players with low ownership that I think could be good options in the coming weeks to help you climb the rankings. These will be looked at in three specific price brackets to cater for our available budget. These names evolve with fixtures and form and offer Fantasy managers a nudge in hopefully the right direction.

Notes
I opted to change my plans this week as Romelu Lukaku’s no-show followed by Liverpool’s Sunday team sheet forced me to abandon the Philippe Coutinho captain strategy and pushed me into the welcoming arms of Alexis Sanchez, who racked up 24 points over the double. I have owned the Chilean for long periods of the season but unfortunately at the wrong times until now – hopefully we have made up our differences and the love affair can rekindle.

Looking forward I’m in a fairly good position for Gameweek 38 as I have nine players with a fixture, which I expect is slightly more than most. With my remaining three transfers I’ll likely target a Liverpool and a Chelsea player for the double Gameweek in 40 but I’m considering using the third on switching the underperforming Craig Dawson to Kyle Walker. Spurs look likely to keep a few more clean sheets before the season is out and a double up could pay dividends.

Captain Plan
I’m locked into Sergio Aguero as captain for Saturday’s game at home to Stoke. Although his minutes may be managed ahead of the Champions League clash with Real, we all know how deadly he can be in a short period of time, so I’ll be hoping he can continue his great recent form.

For Sunday it will be a switch to Sanchez, who travels to the Stadium of Light to challenge Sunderland. This works out well as Arsenal play on match day one in Gameweek 39 at home to Norwich.

It’s definitely worth noting that Tottenham host West Brom on Monday night football and so a switch to Harry Kane could again reap big rewards – however, with Spurs not playing until match day three in Gameweek 39, it will likely take transfers to navigate this situation.

The Fantasy Football Scout League

Once again, we’re running our own Fantasy Football Scout League this season and are sitting in first place in the rankings at present. With a £1000 prize to the winner, you’d be mad not to get involved. To join, visit Sky Sports Fantasy Football and key in League Name: FFScout, League Code: 8009000.

I'm an Aguero and Sturridge owner and am deeply worried about pitch time in GW36 nevermind the stress of this week's rotation 😉

Is there any other WC36 BB37 guys around?

Early thoughts about the WC36 team:

    Mannone-Ruddy
    Bellerin-Cresswell-PVA-Rose-Simpson
    Sanchez-Payet-Firmino-Alli-Lanzini
    Aguero-Kane-Sturridge
    0.0 ITB

Is there anything obvious I am missing? Maybe need to upgrade Ruddy?

My current squad, lying in 6632 place overall, is as follows:

    Robles, Darlow
    Belerin, Gabriel, Sakho, Smalling, Foso-Mensah
    Sanchez, Coutinho, Firminio, KDB, Lanzini
    Aguero, Martial, Mitrovic

Taking into account cup rotations and my lessons learnt from DGW35, I plan to trim my rotation risk for a -12pt hit leaving me with £0.8m ITB as follows:

    Martial > Kane
    KDB > Alli
    Fosu-Mensah > Alderweireld
Mitrovic > Defoe (to facilitate buying Alderweireld even though I would bench Defoe this GW versus Arsenal)

Alternatives would include possibly Carroll, Deeney, Ighalo, Van Aanolt, Cresswell. I defo want Payet next Gameweek.

My team for this would therefore be:

    Darlow
    Bellerin, Gabriel, Alderweireld, Sakho
    Sanchez, Coutinho, Firminio, Alli
    Aguero, Kane

    Bench: Robles, Smalling, Lanzini, Defoe

    How does all this look?

Wait a week on Mitrovic> Defoe, if you need the cash just go for Rose instead of Alderweireld.

Thanks for replying. I understand your point. I though Defoe could cover for Gabriel, Sahko, Coutinho, Firminio. Maybe Azpi from Chelsea for Sahko instead of Mitro for Defoe? Carroll looks like a good purchase next week if I did not buy Defoe.

    Bellerin Simpson Gabriel* Lovren* Ward**
    Alexis KDB Coutinho* Payet** Lanzini**
    Kun Lukaku** Martial**

8/13 outfielders with a game. 3 doubts: Coutinho, Gabriel, Lovren.

    (a) Ward+Payet+Lukaku > Rose+Alli+Kane. 11/13 with a game, 3 doubts.
    (b) Ward+KDB+Martial > Rose+Alli+Kane. 10/13 with a game, 3 doubts.

You have admire Aguero's share of his team's goals:

    Last Gw:

Liv goals: Firmino Sturridge Sakho Coutinho Sturridge Origi
Mci goals: Aguero Aguero Aguero Aguero
Tot goals: Kane Kane Alli Alli

Liverpool's goals seem more dispersed throughout the team.

      Nice one Pundit 🙂

I got 177(-4), went from 20k to 5k and top of my ML having been behind by more than 100 points at Xmas. Astonishing - ML rival spooged his wildcard early for no real reason, but I'm really pleased to have hit a long way above my hopeful estimate of 150!

Right. Changes made now Nasri is injured! Smalling and Nasri out for Toby and Alli - triple Spurs all the way home... slightly sickening as a Gooner.

    Looking good?

    Darlow (*sick face*)
    Sakho Toby Morgan Bellerin
    Alli Coutinho Townsend Sanchez
    Kun Kane (c)
    Blank / Gabby Blank Blank

Hopefully 2 of Sakho, Coutinho and Gabby will play to give me the XI!

Points Hits Explained - Myth #1
"When you have less than 11 players then a transfer hit only counts as -2 instead of -4".

No. You lose -4 on your rivals who have the SAME player already. If you bring in a player who they don't have, then it can be considered a -2.

Rivals are insignificant - you just need to compare the 0 with what you think your new player will get you -4.

How are ML rivals insignificant? If I'm second place in my league and the league leader has Kane. It will cost me -4 on getting Kane too no matter how many players I have playing.

If you have 10 then Kane is in for -2.

It's a -4 against someone you're chasing who has Kane.

It's -2 on your total points, but they gain the 2 as well, so it is -4.

In light of Klopp's comments, would you do Coutinho > Alli for -4?

Rival who is 24 points behind has Alli but not Coutinho (although does have Firminho).

Bearing in mind Lanzini's double gameweek in 37, who will score more points for rest of season out of him and Alli?

Would Lanzini > Alli be worth a -4?

    Hmm.

I was set to do KDB > Alli this week, but Pellegrini's comments suggest he may be inclined to put more minutes on the pitch. What do you think?

It's not for a hit, it's my one FT. I actually have 12 players with a game this week, I'm just trying to work out whether KDB will be rested or not, and whether it's time to bring Alli back in.

Yep - I'm all over the shop!

In answer to your question, I'd probably roll the transfer over if you're certain that 11 of the 12 will start. I'd expect KDB to start, as they still need points for 4th, but then be subbed early.
