Man Cityโ€™s first-leg semi-final against Real Madrid ends goalless at the Etihad. The FA charge Dele Alli with violent conduct following Monday nightโ€™s altercation with Claudio Yacob, whilst Norwichโ€™s Timm Klose steps up his recovery ahead of double Gameweek 37.

City’s progress in the balance

The home leg of Manchester Cityโ€™s Champions League tie against Real Madrid ended in a 0-0 stalemate.

Manuel Pellegrini made five changes from the side that won 4-0 against Stoke on Saturday, with Nicolas Otamendi the only member of the back-four to retain his starting berth โ€“ a sign of the Chileanโ€™s intentions to rest and rotate. Further up the field, Kevin De Bruyne and Fernandinho came in for Kelechi Iheanacho and the injured Yaya Toure and the Belgian offered his sideโ€™s main goal threat, firing two of their four attempts on goal.

City look almost certain to be without David Silva, though, after the winger was forced off with five minutes remaining in the first period. Discussing the Spaniardโ€™s fitness, Pellegrini went on to say:

“David Silva has a hamstring injury and will not be fit in one week.โ€

The Scout Says: Although Silva looks poised to miss the weekend trip to St Maryโ€™s, De Bruyne owners will be taking nothing for granted after he was benched for the second time in four league matches against the Potters. Given that the likes of Jesus Navas and Raheem Sterling could be fielded on the flanks if Pellegrini opts for a 4-4-2 at St Maryโ€™s, itโ€™s no real surprise that over 10,000 Fantasy managers have already sold the Belgian this week. Meanwhile, Cityโ€™s third clean sheet in five outings across all competitions highlights their clean sheet potential. Having changed three of his back-four from the weekend, though, Pellegriniโ€™s team sheet suggests that Joe Hart remains their only safe source of defensive coverage while theyโ€™re still fighting on two fronts.

Alli handed FA charge

Dele Alli has been charged by the FA for violent conduct after he appeared to punch Claudio Yacob midway through the first half of Tottenham Hotspurโ€™s home encounter against West Bromwich Albion. The player has until 6pm this evening to respond.

The Scout Says: In the likely event that Alli is found guilty of the transgression, the PFA Young Player of the Year would incur a three-match ban and sit out Tottenhamโ€™s remaining fixtures (che, SOU, new). Considering the clear-cut nature of the offence, his substantial ownership is already on the decline, with only three players currently being transferred out in greater volume. Alli has assisted seven of Harry Kaneโ€™s 24 goals this term, so his absence slightly reduces the strikerโ€™s appeal as a captaincy candidate next time out. On the flip side, Christian Eriksen โ€“ who produced attacking returns (one goal, five assists) in all of his last five starts โ€“ could profit from a central role and is now the prime choice for those managers wishing to double up on Spursโ€™ offense. With Alli potentially out of the picture, the likes of Heung-Min Son and Nacer Chadli will be pushing for starts on the flanks, though with eight teams set to feature twice in the penultimate round of fixtures, a Spurs exodus could pick up pace next week if Leicester clinch the title by the end of Gameweek 36.

Stokeโ€™s Wilson suffers setback

Marc Wilson was forced off upon his return from injury during a behind-closed-doors friendly for Stoke yesterday.

The Scout Says: Whilst Wilson looks likely to miss out again as the Potters host Sunderland this weekend, Mark Hughes will at least be able to welcome back Erik Pieters from a two-match suspension as he attempt to address a dire run thatโ€™s seen his side concede four times in each of their last trio of league outings โ€“ despite the recent return of skipper Ryan Shawcross. Stokeโ€™s lack of resolve bodes well for weekend visitors Sunderland, then, allowing Fantasy managers to eye up the Wearsidersโ€™ attacking assets ahead of their double Gameweek 37 (CHE & EVE). On that note, Jermain Defoe lays claims to good form (three goals in six) and impressive underlying statistics, ranking second for penalty-box touches (34) and second for shots inside the box (13) among forwards across his last four matches. Despite being stationed out wide, Fabio Borini could also emerge as a profitable differential, given that he charted joint-fifth for attempts (13) and joint-seventh for shots inside the box (nine) during that time frame.

Klose steps up recovery

Norwich centre-half Timm Klose took to Instagram yesterday to suggest heโ€™s nearing a return to action before the end of the season.

The Scout Says: Having previously been ruled out for the rest of the campaign by Alex Neil, a possible return for Klose would be a welcome boost to the Canariesโ€™ survival plight. Prior to limping out of the Gameweek 33 clash against Palace on 39 minutes, the Swiss international had served up a goal, two clean sheets and five bonus points in three appearances, helping his side to two wins and a draw. Whilst he seems set to miss this weekโ€™s trip to Arsenal, Klose โ€“ at 4.2 โ€“ is clearly worth monitoring ahead of a pair of home matches in double Gameweek 37 (MUN & WAT) and trip to Everton on the final day of the season that bolster the Carrow Road clubโ€™s chances of beating the drop.

    Repost
Made one transfer already this week bringing in Koscielny for Gabriel before he rose last night.

    Team now:

    Mignolet (Robles)
    Huth, Simpson, Koscielny (Clyne, Smalling)
    Mahrez, Sanchez, Iwobi, Payet (Coutinho)
    Aguero, Defoe, Kane.

Not certain of a Leicester clean sheet so shall I switch out Clyne for someone with a higher CS potential?? Or do I keep Clyne and get rid of Coutinho and give myself a benching headache??

    A) Coutinho -> Lanzini, Fabregas??
    OR
    B) Clyne -> PvA, Cathcart/Any Watford, Lovren?

      Keep Clyne for DGW37
Get rid of Coutinho for Fabs
I would switch Huth > PvA

I worry about Clyne's minutes seeing as he has missed 2 of the last 3 games. Would you do Huth to PvA this week and then bring in Cesc next week?

    This maybe a silly question.

How come Liverpool are ok to continue in the Europa cup when they were fielding a player done for doping?

Wasn't a team disqualified recently for something similar in the champions league?

    1. PlayPercentage
      • 15 Years

They need two dopers to be disqualified.

        • 11 Years
        10 years, 3 months ago

that's hardly a deterrent to an individual player

wouldn't there be a greater deterrent if you knew that if you got done for doping your whole team is out

if it's 2 or 3 players, shared responsibility allow all guilty parties feel better.

'It wasn't just me' shrugs shoulders.

I think I read that it needs to be 2 or 3 players for it to be a disqualification. Don't know if that's true though

My understanding is it has to be 2 or 3 (can't remember) players within the team with the same doping charge before the team is punished.
      I think...

He's not been banned. The only reason he isn't playing is because Liverpool have dropped him themselves.

He's already an inconsistent player, and with all this on his mind he won't be performing very well. He actually agreed that he shouldn't play

And failing a drug test doesn't mean that you're guilty of taking a banner substance. It's likely that UEFA will sanction him unless something changes, but nothing is final yet.

              'dropped him themselves'

can read between the lines why he's been dropped, i don't think its about consistency

they played him in all the crucial matches and by far their best defender this season in the second half

player and club probably fearing the repercussions, and dont want to further antagonise situation

Like many I'm sure I am totally at a loss who to get in the striker positions for GW37. They all have their plus points and minuses as options. Defoe I just don't fancy for some reason mind, I know Sunderland have looked quite decent on the break but Defoe I see scoring in dribs and drabs rather than being explosive in the main (this week could be the exception?). On the plus side the fixtures do look half decent if not a guarantee of that many goals for the DGW. It's a 50/50 on that front with both those sides they play being good with not much to play for.

Carroll can be explosive get 2's and 3's, unfortunately will likely be rested in one of those DGW fixtures and there is always the injury concern with the gangly one. Lukaku's confidence is shot to pieces yet we know what he's capable of, could that handy fixture home to Bournemouth prove useful???. Their two DGW fixtures don't look the most promising mind you for goal returns.

Deeny and Ighalo have been non-existent in the league for months, they have great fixtures on paper but against sides fighting for their lives so maybe not so good after all. There's been nothing to go on with the pair of them for months given their minds have been solely on the FA Cup. Could be good, maybe not?

Sturridge is a massive rotation risk from this week onwards in all likelihood, could provide massive points if playing (dare we take the risk?). Costa who knows where his heads at along with Chelsea's generally. May well be up for this weeks game, what about for the DGW? on form he's fixture proof... Who knows how it could go?

I know this is all stating the bleeding obvious lol, I just wanna know who the hell do you pick out of that little lot... Beats me ๐Ÿ˜€

Yeah that's who I want Carroll, think it's worth the risk that'll he'll play both games. It's a shame Kun has such a tough fixture GW37. Benteke is back for Pool, I know Klopp doesn't fancy him, will he get game time?. Damn I dunno, I'd get Stu in an instant if I knew he was nailed on. Maybe like Carroll he'll play a part in both games, like to think so.

Ship Gabriel for PvA this week or the next

What are your thoughts on this plan?

Already done Mitrovic ------> Defoe. Current team.....

    Migs. Robles.
    Smalling. Bellerin. Gabriel. Sakho. Zabaletta.
    Sanchez. Coutinho. Mané. Alli. Lanzini.
    Aguero. Kane. Defoe.

I have exact funds to do Alli & Zabaletta -------> Payet & PVA for -8 and will bench Cout as he's unlikely to start next GW.
Then for GW37 I will use my FT to do Sakho -----> sub 4.8 DGW defender and field the below...

    Migs
    Smalling. PVA. 4.7
    Sanchez. Payet. Coutinho. Lanzini.
    Aguero. Kane. Defoe.
    (Bench: Robles. Mané. Bellerin. Gabriel)

The -8 this GW will be my last hits of the season and set me up nicely with 8 DGWers + Kun, Kane & Sanchez

    Would appreciate your thoughts...

Zabaleta may play this weekend seeing as Sagna played 90 last night. I think Sakho would be a higher priority to remove than and of your other defenders

    I am defending a 30-point lead atm.

    Which transfer(s) should I do:
    A. Sakho > Reid
    B. Sakho + Coutinho > Reid + Fabregas (-4)
    C. Sakho + COutinho > Cresswell + Willian (-4)
    ?

    Thanks!

      A. Don't take hits with that lead.

    KDB -> Payet worth a -4?

My subs will be Alli, Gabriel and Delaney. Only Delaney likely to play.

Hard to gamble with such a weak bench. I'd suggest Alli to Antonio though once his suspension is confirmed. KDB unlikely to get as rotated without Silva.

So you think KDB will start? If he does I want to avoid taking a hit. Will be taking a few next week.

Wow, a probable Alli suspension and an unjury to Silva, was contemplating one or two hits to bring in the Spurs man and draft out KDB before the news reached me!

KdB isn't home free even with Silva out tbh

No of course not but I'd be surprised if he gets less than 60 mins.

Logically he should start - most clubs in Europe are not routinely resting their star players before big UCL games. He was rested for the last league game and seems likely to play this one.

But he looked tired last night. I would say he noticably dropped off around the 60 minute mark and clearly isnt 100% fit yet.

Need some off topic help here please guys!!

My phone restarted itself last night and now won't let me unlock it using fingerprints like I usually do.

It says I need to use my backup password and I'm 99% sure I'm using the right one but it says it's wrong and we've now got to the point where it's locked me out for 60 minutes.

I looked online and found that after 5 wrong attempts you should be shown an "Unlock using your Google account" option which would be fine as I know my Gmail login but it isn't showing me this option at all....

Anyone know what else I can do?

crazy stat: barkley's 2 pens against newcastle were his only goals or assists this calendar year.

yet i can't help but feel bournemouth is exactly his kind of game

    This is my backline atm

    Robles Mannone
    Kirchoff Smalling Azpi Sakho Koscienly

Given that I am BBing in GW 37 (no WC) , should I-

    A)Sell Sakho/Koscienly for Cresswell (-4)
B)Sell both Sakho and Koscienly (-8)

Is Lanzini a decent replacement for Alli?

He only got 28 mins in one DGW game and did nothing in the next.

    1. M00N
      • 11 Years

The fact he was rested during one of the DGW matches is putting me off using him for the next one

    2. Hobolicious
      • 10 Years

He missed basically an open goal in the second game in the DGW, and I believe he was rested in the first game because they had a lot of games in a row (replay versus Manchester United in the FA Cup for example).

    Sakho

Care to rank them in order of urgency?
