All three of this week’s Picks have a couple of matches on their weekend agendas. This time around, Chelsea, Norwich and West Ham’s midfields supply us with a player apiece as we roll out a trio of overlooked Fantasy options for your Saturday morning consideration.

Willian

Following a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City, Chelsea rebounded with a resounding 4-1 victory against Bournemouth and a spirited draw at home to Tottenham Hotspur, renewing our confidence in their offensive assets before successive trips to Sunderland and Liverpool. Eden Hazard’s resurgence (three goals in two) renders him the prime pick, yet Willian (7.0) – who notched a goal and assist in his last two starts – harbours promise as a cheaper route into the Blues’ attack.

In Chelsea’s previous quartet of encounters, Willian charted top among their midfielders for attempts (ten) and joint-second for key passes (six). In addition, only three midfielders around the league managed more shots inside the box (eight) during their last four outings, illuminating his goal threat beyond free kicks.

Considering that the Blues scored four goals in two of their last three road clashes, they’ll be relishing the prospect of facing a Sunderland defence that ranks joint-third-bottom for clean sheets (six) and second for shots inside the box conceded (308). As for their journey to Anfield, Liverpool will certainly have one eye fixated on the Europa League final on May 18, potentially allowing Willian to capitalise on any weakened team sheet.

Cheikhou Kouyate

Belying his role as an enforcer, Cheikhou Kouyate (5.2) emerged as one of West Ham’s most effective attackers across their previous two fixtures, registering a goal and two assists. If the underlying statistics are anything to go by, the Senegal international has been afforded the license to maraud forward as the Irons mount a last-ditch attempt at sealing a top-fourth berth, making him an intriguing alternative to the similarly priced Manuel Lanzini (4.9) ahead of consecutive home ties (SWA, MUN).

Kouyate placed joint-second for attempts (six), second for shots on target (three) and top for shots inside the box (five) among West Ham’s midfielders over their last four outings. Furthermore, he ranked top for penalty-box touches (18), tallying seven more than Dimitri Payet (11). Confirming that his recent output isn’t just an aberrance, Kouyate boasts five more shots inside the box (34) than any of his West Ham counterparts this term.

Ahead of their final two league fixtures at Upton Park, the Hammers’ attack is motoring at present and have scored at least twice in each of their previous seven. As such, they’re well placed to punish a Swansea rearguard that’s conceded the fifth-most goals (31) and fourth-most shots inside the box (171) in away clashes. Feeding into Kouyate’s primary strength, Man United surrendered the joint-fourth most shots inside the box (52) in their previous six outings, which bodes well for the Red Devils’ visit in a match that could prove decisive to the Hammers’ European prospects for 2016/17.

Robbie Brady

In the wake of three successive blanks, Norwich City – who currently sit two points adrift of safety – have no option but to go for broke in their back-to-back home ties against United and Watford this Gameweek. Alex Neil’s decision to reinstate Wes Hoolahan and Nathan Redmond last time out illustrated the Canaries’ adoption of a more attacking philosophy, which in turn augments the appeal of all-action midfielder Robbie Brady (5.4).

Across Norwich’s previous four outings, Brady mustered more shots on target (four) than any of his team-mates. The former Hull City recruit also served up eight attempts and the most key passes (seven), underlining his capacity for attacking returns. Taking the campaign in its entirety, Brady has amassed more attempts (52), key passes (53) and shots on target (18) than the rest of Norwich’s midfield contingent.

Although the Norfolk outfit have struggled in the final third of late, the fact that they recorded the seventh-most attempts (57) over their last four fixtures suggests they have still posed a decent threat. Notwithstanding Manchester United’s laudable home form, they’ve only managed five clean sheets on the road. Moreover, the Canaries will be encouraged that Watford have just three shut-outs to their name in 16 match-ups.

True, but not as consistent, not guaranteed game time, and very few assists. In addition Payet gets a point more if CS. Still Carroll?

    DDG,
    Fuchs, Cresswell, PvA
    Payet (c), Antonio, Hazard, Sanchez
    Kun, Defoe, Kane

    Subs: Robles, Bellerin, Iwobi, Delaney

How does the team look? GTG? took -8 points hit to bring in Cresswell, Hazard, and Defoe already. Considering in brining Costa for either Kun or Kane, thoughts?

    1. Stat Sloth
      • 10 Years
      10 years, 1 month ago

If anyone should go, I would say Kane. Seeing that two of his assisters are gone, and that City wants to nail that third place, Aguero has more to play for.

However, worth -4 points? I doubt that Costa will outscore Kane by that much.

West Ham play their last games at the Boleyn with sights on bringing European football to the Olympic, Swansea are weakened and bored. It has to be a Hammer.

Payet - the safe choice, Carroll - the explosive one (if he plays at least 160 minutes and doesn't get sent off).

perfectly summed up and i think ACs injury prone record makes him a TC no no. I have both but on Payet. Again depends if chasing or not.

You're right, and that's why Payet is the sensible choice.

But... just imagine Carroll against a Williams-less defence and those early goals pouring in 🙂

My thoughts as well. Surely Carroll won't play the full 180mins? He could be rested due to how quick the games are coming. Only worry is he is in such form he could easily score in both games. I'm leading so thinking of playing it safe with Payet but considering Carroll

No chance of 180, but he could start both. Why wouldn't he? He's a starter since West Ham dropped out of the cup. He wants to get his last shot at the Euro, Bilic has no reasons to rest him.

Even Smalling can't control him 🙂

45 points behind in my money league so going TC Hazard. Who are you going with Jonty and what transfers did you make?

The not so divine ponytail for me. He's in form, Swansea can't defend corners or crosses in general and he's done well against them in the past. For the second game, West Ham will want to win their last home game and get some revenge for Man Utd knocking them out of the cup.

      Big Andy (TC).

Swansea on holiday/youth players and United concede so many headed attempts.

Must as well go out with a bang.

Jermain (TC). If Sunderland do well against the dodgy defences they face, he'll do well. He's the main man.

            Currently big Andy C.

Feel he will do well. It's a close call between him and Payet though.

Purely picked Carroll due to him being the striker with potential for a higher points ceiling.

      Great Team should do well!

I got the same goalkeepers, take it your just gonna deal with that issue next GW? I'm tempted to sort this week currently on -ve 4 in a 3 way battle in a money league.

Most important GW this season and I can't make up my mind on my Tc.

    Never a good sign.

    1. Payet(original thought)
    2. Carroll(seems to be the popular choice around here....)
    3. Copy LR...Hazard(TC)...

    😕

      Carroll.

Against Swansea he could be gold. They won't be able to deal with him if Williams is out

My view on Klopp's statement on rotation:
He meant he doesn't need to rotate for the final, doesn't mean he won't rotate for the semi just played. Hope that sentence is clear.

    My view on Payet(tc):
Good safe option, even though more punty options like Carroll and Hazard are available. 180 guaranteed minutes. Gets baps for a single assist. Last 2 home games at the Boleyn Ground, you know what happens in those kinds of matches... GOALZZZZ. Takes all FKs. Scores worldlies from those.

Carroll and Hazard are also great options for the TC, but minutes are less assured than Payet.

Fair point. FYI, last 3 matches he got a single assist, he only got 1 BAP from 3 different occassions.

Need to see the player for what he is. Picking 3 weeks to judge someone of his class.... Try picking Hazard's first 30 weeks. 😉

He's a good safe option no doubt.

I'm not judging his class. I'm just countering to your point of him getting BAPS with even a single assist which is untrue.

Fair point about his assist+baps not as good as Özil, but still has got a few. But has a better shot than Özil so should make it up. 😉

    Hi,
I'm currently second in ML and 31 points adrift from top spot! I've still got AOA chip and TC chip to play. My team is currently...

Robles Darlow Bellerin Sakho Smalling Kirchoff Simpson KDB Sanchez Payet Coutinho Milner Defoe Carroll Aguero

    1.0 mill ITB

Any suggestions on how to improve team to gain top spot?would like to get hazard in and take out Coutinho but haven't the funds for a straight swap. Would need to free up funds elsewhere?

Triple captain Carroll as a punt or stay safe with Payet?

Top spot rival in ML has:Schmeichel Robles Simpson Gabriel Rojo Kirchoff lovren Coutinho Sanchez Payet king alli Kane martial Aguero

Any ideas?Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks
