With just a few days to go until the launch of Euro 2016, the community has been full of useful advice on selecting the key targets for our Fantasy squads. There’s a wealth of guidance from our hot topics posters and the launch of our 2016/17 Membership, which includes internationals data for the first time, has also helped ensure there is some solid statistics for Members table creators to get their teeth into. For our community writers, issues closer to home took precedence as they look back at last season’s chips and ahead to the prospects of the three newly-promoted teams to the Premier League.

The Community Articles

Domestic matters dominated our community articles this week with Kings of Lyon unveiling the final analysis from his Going Out With a Bang league. This was set up to find out how the FFScout community used their chips during the season run in and reveals that those backing Romelu Lukaku in particular were left counting the cost.

Red Lightning, who this week joined the FFScout moderators’ team, has been looking ahead to next season by updating his promoted teams analysis. Stretching back to 2010, this research now includes an assessment of what Hull, Burnley and Middlesbrough can expect from top flight football in 2016/17.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

For our hot topic posters, European matters ruled supreme. Eden Hazardous has been unearthing a raft of key stats for those playing Euro 2016 Fantasy Football to mull over, while Lyonnais has kept on top of the current tournament template that is emerging among the FFScout community.

But not everyone is sticking to the template script. RuthNZ is among those considering investing in Germany’s often benched but shot happy differential Andre Schürrle?

Elsewhere in the community’s Euro 2016 preparation the search for good value defenders continues.

For those looking for more pricey options Spain’s premium picks came under discussion as did whether cutting corners on cost is advisable.

Roy Hodgson’s team selection, which involved omitting Premier League winner Danny Drinkwater and in-form winger Andros Townsend, raised a few eyebrows. The community delivered their verdict on Roy’s choices while we also considered whether England is worthy of Fantasy managers attention irrespective of who plays.

With Hull’s play-off victory securing promotion last weekend, there was still time to get some early preparation in for next season’s Premier League. Mark sparked a discussion on whether yo-yo clubs Hull and Burnley can actually maintain their top flight status in 2016/17.

The Members Tables

This week we unveiled our new season membership which this year includes international data to help pick your Euro 2016 sides. Already those who have snapped up 2016/17 Membership have been busy creating a raft of tables to select the best options during qualifiers and friendlies.

Doosra has created this look at the best defenders, midfielders and deadliest strikers. Among Cheesoid’s tables are his look at those teams that have conceded the most big chances as well as goal scoring defenders. Meanwhile, Fantasy Football Frog has also taken a look at dodgy defences, and some of the strikers and midfielders who are set to profit when they meet them.

For those playing DraftKings Euro 2016 game I’ve constructed this table looking at the high flyers in key scoring categories such as crossing and winning tackles. I’ve also made a table looking at the tournament’s best set-piece takers.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

Yeah I think their problems are down to the manager. Don't be surprised if Klinsmann is sacked if they do badly at this tournament, from what I can work out he's really not well regarded by the US fanbase.

If I were playing it I go for Hazard who looked to be coming back after awarding himself a rest for the first three quarters of the season,
and Kane if Rooney is benched or dropped a lot further back.
Otherwise Kane and Vardy look toothless with Wayne getting in the way up front.

Zlatan going to United seems to be a reality. He wants to play in the PL that seems clear. Could another club swoop in at the last minute? Seems Arsenal are after Vardy, could Chelsea go in for Zlatan?

He wants to play for Mourinho - the manager he most credits with making him the player he is. United are the biggest club in England by miles. Why would he go anywhere else?

Yeah, hard to disagree really. Still finding it hard to believe that United is still such an attractive club after its woes in recent seasons.

Mourinho is a game changer in that regard. United under Moyes/LVG were perceived to be a club on the downslope. Not any more. Mourinho gives them all their cachet back.

He's asking for €300,000 per week post-tax, which translates to about £400,000pw cost to Man U. I don't think anyone else in the Premier League would willing to pay someone, even Zlatan, £400k per week.

Was referring to the 1 year contract. Obviously no resale value so won't be a commodity. Zlatan can come and go as he pleases now without being held down by a club on a long term contract.

                • 12 Years
                10 years, 8 days ago

Yep, 2017/18 will be a 1-year extension at the same value if all goes well and United want to retain him, if not its probably off to China or Qatar for a similar post-tax payout.

But if you get a career-ending injury that's it. Whereas if you are on a long contract the club has to continue to pay you.

Just hasn't proved worth the wages in recent years. Good player but his best days are behind him unfortunately. Hopefully Mourinho and resurrect him. Would love to see him back at his best.

Nor could they afford to. United now have commercial revenues approaching £300m per annum. That dwarfs all other PL clubs. Only Bayern, RM and Barcelona get anywhere near close.

If Ibra costs them £20m per annum that'd a drop in the ocean really. Especially when there is no transfer fee to pay.

            • 12 Years
            10 years, 8 days ago

This is very true, I'd hazard a guess that Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City could afford to too if they really really really wanted him but I don't see any of them blowing out their wage structure for it. Whereas for Man U it's not as big a stretch and they already have precedent with whatever they paid for a season of Falcao in the end.

I wrote this in response to Ludo's post and I wanted to have a discussion on it.

A lot of people are connecting Kane's form with Dembele , Alli and etc. I don't agree. I think its a matter of chance that it has happened. Remember in the starting of the season when Kane couldn't buy a goal? His stats were amazing and he was led down by goal CONVERSION. It has been this case throughout the season. I do not expect it to continue into next season. IMO , Dembele is more crucial to Spurs' defence . He is very important to their attack as well but they have wealth of talent to provide Kane those assists in Eriksen , Lamela and Son.

Personally I am 70% starting with Kane depending on his price , not because of Dembele or Alli. Spurs were the best team in the PL last season in my personal opinion and they have a young squad which will only improve with time.

Will you or will you not start with Kane in your team next season?

11m seems fair yeah. I would buy him 100% for anything lower than that.

I personally do not think its just a matter of chance, since dembele didnt play some games in the start as well. Also, i am not sure who i will start with it really depends on the new signings and price on a lot of things. If somehow Ibra comes he is in for example.

It will really vary on a lot of factors to be fair.

"I personally do not think its just a matter of chance, since dembele didnt play some games in the start as well."

My response - "Remember in the starting of the season when Kane couldn't buy a goal? His stats were amazing and he was led down by goal CONVERSION. "

Kane's Goal Conversion is not something Dembele can control.

You are right he cant control, but still happened that way. Whenever Dembele played he scored, when he didnt then it was "conversion" or whatever else. In my book it was about him, might be wrong but thats just me.

        It's all relative.

Dembele controls match. As such his team are on the back foot less and attacking more as he bosses the midfield.

For me there has to be a correlation between games won with Moussa playing vs not playing and that is key. They might win 1-0 with minimal chances and a great conversion number by Kane but does Dembele help them win?

For me he does. And Spurs are so much weaker without him.

I have never said that Dembele isn't crucial to Spurs but my problem is with people equating Kane to Dembele/Alli. World class strikers score regardless of team-mates and opposition is my point.

      Thoughts on this please....

      Sommer Varjic
      Lindelof Hector Denayer Koscielny Juanfran
      KDB Perisic Alli Hamsik Junusovic
      Lewandowski Giroud Janko

      KDB & Giroud > Payet & Muller?
      KDB & Lewandowski > Payet & Muller?

England has the easier side of the draw. Easier group , easier potential Ro16 opponents and quarter finals. So them.

Italy are a very good team as well but tough group and tough potential Ro16 and quarter final opponents.

England is crap. Kane and vardy are top shelf if used properly. Good goalkeeper. Defence and midfield is awful and tactically they are useless.
Italy is full of average players but are tactically very clever and always step up for international tournaments.
Portugal have an underrated group of players, then there's ronaldo

My Ireland team is journey man but if we had to play England I wouldn't be worried at all I'd really look forward to it

Portugal's manager is as bad as England's tho. I mean their defence is so old while their younger counterparts rot on the bench. Nani is still playing for Portugal lol

I think Portugal is in the same bracket as England. I really do not think they will advance beyond 1/8 finals. Portugal might not make it out of the group as top 2

I'm new around here, threw this squad together the other day having read some of the content from the past few days:

      Sommer Randolph
      Ramos Schar Eliseu Dragovic Denayer
      Alli KDB Rakitic Ozil R.Silva
      Dzyuba Morata Muller

      Thoughts? Strengths? Weaknesses?

The midfield needs fixing up IMO. Keep kdb and scrap the rest

      Still tinkering with the euro squad. Any thoughts on this;

      Lloris
      Glik Hector Alba
      Cesc Rakitic Ozil Matuidi
      Lewandowski cpt Morata Greizman

      All bench fodder after that

      Too much Spain and France?
