Defending champions Spain lose their 11-match unbeaten run ahead of Euro 2016 after falling to defeat at home to Georgia.

Spain 0 Georgia 1

Spain suffered a shock 1-0 home reverse at the hands of Georgia in their final pre-Euro 2016 friendly last night.

Vicente de Bosque opted for the defensive quartet he mainly favoured over the qualifiers, with right-back Juanfran, who sets you back 5.5, the cheapest option in defence. The Atletico Madrid man was replaced at the break by Hector Bellerin (5.0), though, and bearing in mind that the latter played from start to finish in the previous two, there’s perhaps enough doubts over Juanfran’s pitch time to reconsider his acquisition.

Elsewhere at the back, Gerard Pique – owned by 11% compared to Sergio Ramos’ 29% – proved the greatest close-range threat for the home side and fired three attempts inside the box. David de Gea, meanwhile, was handed his first start in four, though admits he is still uncertain over starting berth given that Del Bosque has now fielded a different keeper in each of the last three.

Despite firing 17 attempts on goal, Spain managed a mere three shots on target, with Del Bosque’s decision to opt for Aritz Aduriz over the in-form Alvaro Morata up front failing to pay off. Given that the former managed a single attempt on goal, Morata will fancy his chances of returning to the XI for the first group match with Czech Republic.

Del Bosque once again opted for Nolito on the left flank. The Celta Vigo man was unable to replicate the form that harvested back-to-back braces against Bosnia and South Korea, he was still joint-top for attempts on goal (three).

The likes of David Silva and Andres Iniesta were afforded second-half sub roles by Del Bosque. The former teed up three scoring chances in just 38 minutes but his team-mates failed to convert.

Spain XI De Gea; Juanfran (Bellerin 46), Ramos (San Jose 46), Pique, Alba; Fabregas (Iniesta 46), Busquets (Pedro 76), Alcantara (Koke 46); Vazquez (Silva 61), Aduriz, Nolito

Majorly confused by the mcdonalds one with the daily changes and the sheer amount of transfers you can make takes some fun out of it

    Patricio
    Hector/Juanfran/Djourou/Cahill
    Gotze/Martial/Rakitic/Alaba
    Ronaldo/Lewandowski

    Uefa/mcdonalds one

    Patricio
    Hector/cahill/rodriguez/fuchs
    Alaba/de bruyne/gotze
    Ronaldo/Lewandowski/Muller

    Sun one

          😛

FWIW I think this year's complexion changes slightly with the top 4 third place teams qualifying for the knockouts, but what that does is it puts more emphasis on winning the group for the top teams in groups A to D and also it creates a situation where 2nd and 3rd in a group on one win each may both just need a draw to qualify. But really I think both of those factors just make GW3 cagier as top teams take it completely seriously going for 3 wins in 3 and other teams just want to get to 4 points rather than risk losing and getting knocked out.

GW 3 will see some teams give their 'B' side a run out if already qualified.

        • 12 Years
        9 years, 10 months ago

France, Switzerland, England, Germany and Spain will all be keen to qualify top so they can get the 3rd placed qualifiers in the round of 16. Also so they can avoid each other until the semis if they all win their groups. Expect teams to take the final group games seriously.

    A/ Ozil + Muller
    OR
    B/ Cr7 + Kroos

Kroos has great stats on chances created and shoots. CR7 has an easy group, will play every game and is the last captain option in case nobody performs.

Muller is Muller but Ukraine is not that easy to hammer.

      Team check please:

      Sommer - (R. Patricio)
      Boateng - Dier - Konscielny - (Juanfran) - (Denayer)
De Bruyne - Iniesta - Payet - Ozil - Stanciu
      Giroud(c) - Kane - (Nolito)

      (c) Giroud -> Kane -> Ozil -> De Bruyne -> R.Patricio

Only stress i have with this team is not having Muller and having Nolito. Otherwise i think i like it. Suggestions?

Sommer, Denayer and Payet don't look like starters. According to other people Sommer wasn't played the last friendly.

Sommer is still a likely starter I think..

Sommer played 8 out of 10 qualifiers, would be surprised to see him dropped now.

Sommer was rested from what I read and also read that Denayer was confirmed to start earlier on here?

Sommer/Denayer, should be fine and Payet you'll know before deadline

Am I correct in saying we get 1 transfer on Saturday, then a 2nd on Sunday and so on? or 1 transfer after everyone has played once?

In Uefa fantasy, can you change the formation within a gameweek or is it fixed?

You can make transfers during the GW I think....

Yes, but what I mean is can you make transfers which will change formation?

I.e. Can I sub a def for a mid (provided I still have 3 def on pitch and don't break formation rules of course)?

...which in turn changes the formation; so yes is the answer.

Doesn't have to. It may restrict you to subbing like for like?

Nope, it won't. Same setup as the UCL game so free to change once you stick to the allowable formations

Why is Denayer not a starter anymore, how will the Belgian defence look so?

I think he'll start; Belgium pretty limited at the back now with all the injuries...

Hey guys need some advice for a tipping comp.
      2 games i'm unsure about.
      Wales v Slovakia
      Ireland v Sweden
I'm currently on a draw for both games.
      What do you think?
      Thanks in advance.

Slovakia and Ireland (the latter may well be wishful thinking though)

A draw looks about right in the first game and maybe a narrow Swedish win in the other.

      Sommer-Patricio
      Rodriguez-Hector-Dier-Dragovic-Denayor
      Hakan-Perisic-Mak-Draxler-Siggy
      Lewa-Kane-Giroud

      MD1-Giroud (C)
      MD2-Kane(C)
      MD3-Lewandowski(C)
      MD4-
      MD5-Siggy(C)

Although I hope one of Giroud-Kane-Lewa to come good. Should I have a big hitter for MD4?
Is Draxler nailed on? If not please suggest a MD4 option.

Lewa to Muller(MD3 C) and upgrade Draxler to Fabregas(MD4 C) maybe?
