Tuesday’s Euro 16 programme will conclude the first round of group matches as Group F takes a bow, giving DraftKings managers a complete preview of all 24-qualfying nations.

Portugal’s evening clash with Iceland will offer a first look at Cristiano Ronaldo’s form – surely a key factor in the tournament and our DraftKings thinking throughout.

Earlier in the day, Austria will look to uphold their status as dark horses with a convincing opening display against Hungary.

We’ve put the four squads under the microscope, boiling things down to a choice collection of players we feel will be crucial to success in Tuesday’s DraftKings contests.

Matchday 5 Player Picks

Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal – $12,800
While Portugal have a wealth of emerging young talent, there’s no question that they remain heavily reliant on Ronaldo’s form to steer them through the tournament. With 51 goals from 48 appearances for Real Madrid last season, Ronaldo is simply the archetypal goal machine. He fired five vital goals in qualifying and has followed this up with three strikes in Portugal’s warm-up matches, including a brace in the recent 7-0 demolition of Estonia. Ronaldo appears to be fit and firing and that’s really all we need to know.

Christian Fuchs, Austria – $5900
A full-back seemingly tailor-made for our eight-man squads. Fuchs arrives in France off the back of a hugely impressive campaign for Leicester City and with numbers on the international stage to suggest he can replicate that form. He ranked third for crossed balls within the Austrian ranks in qualifying and topped their charts for tackles won and interceptions.

Zlato Junozovic, Austria – $7400
While Fuchs is a supply line from the left, Junozovic is Austria’s chief architect from the number ten role. Crucially, he’s also a dead-ball specialist which will see him hog corners and free-kicks. The main source of crossed balls and fouls won in qualifying, the Werder Bremen man also mustered 27 goal attempts and has maintained that form in the friendly matches since, claiming two goals and an assist.

Gylfi Sigurdsson, Iceland – $7600
While Iceland may struggle to silence Ronaldo, in Sigurdsson they have their own potential match winner, capable over hovering up a big DraftKings tally. Sigurdsson’s club form for Swansea City saw him involved in 41% of their goals and that influence is mirrored for his national side having notched six goals in qualifying. The playmaker will claim set-pieces and is the top provider of crosses in the Iceland ranks, whilst also contributing their most potent goal threat.

Ari Skulason, Iceland – $3800
Converted from a midfield role to left-back by his country, the fiery Skulason offers a willing attacking outlet down the flank which could harvest strong DraftKings returns. He started all ten qualifiers, registering three assists and ranking second behind Sigurdsson for crossed balls.

Balazs Dzsudzsak, Hungary – $6900
Hungary’s potential of making an impression in the tournament rely on the form and productivity of Dzsudzsak. The Bursaspor winger contributed some outstanding numbers in qualifying that make him the go-to option for our squads. He supplied more crossed balls than any other player, creating 25 goalscoring opportunities for team-mates and amassed 39 efforts on goal. Dzsudzsak has maintained that supply line in Hungary’s pre-tournament warm-ups, although it remains to be seen if he can produce on the big stage.

DraftKings contests for Tuesday’s matches are now available, including a $3 entry “Striker” with a $8k prize pot.

DraftKings is available only to those aged 18 or over. Be sure to take note of their Terms and Conditions here.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Subasic 6 (Rui stays on bench)

    Schar 11 Strinic 5 Ramos 6x2 Giaccherini 12 Guerreiro -

    Payet 10 Kroos 6 Junuzovic -

    Giroud 5 Ronaldo -

bench: Rui Patricio - Matuidi 2 Mueller 2 Dzemaili 3

72 - 5 = 68 once I take Mueller and Dzemaili out for Guerreiro and Junuzovic

Feeling good with OR 334 in Global (13 points behind world #1), 19th in FFS.

    - Foolish to take captaincy off Ramos and put it on Ronaldo?

    - Ronaldo needs to score more than 1 goal to improve my situation.

For those who were asking about carrying the FT forward
"Only one transfer can be carried forward to the next matchday. No free transfers can be carried forward once the knockout phase begins"
So maximally 1 FT can be saved and whenever the round of 16 starts then it won't be possible anymore

I thought they could have been carried forward thru the ko stages. Thanks for the heads up. Will probably roll one and use both ft's before gw3

Scum. Running around attacking people having a drink, beating people on the ground. Ultras don't do that, this is the behaviour of the lowest of the low. I don't doubt that there have been England fans acting terribly, but I strongly believe that the Russians have added an entirely new dimension to the chaos. Kick them out of the Euros, move the WC somewhere else.

I agree ! Its absurd behaviour. England fans have too been captured attacking. I think they should both be warned and if caught again thrown out od the tournement and banned from the next tournement. Its the only way these muppets will learn

what about the local French hooligans who have been getting involved in marseille? Should France be held accountable?

Some of the English and Russian supporters have travelled with the sole purpose of causing disturbance and violence. Itd be hard to associate the local French hooligans with the French football team.

I just don't think this is true at all. The worst of the English have been having a drink and inevitably being c**ts, the Russians however have come as an organised mob, haven't been drinking, and actually know how to fight. You just can't put both of them in the same group.

From footage from the other day the English arent as well organised however they are still attacking people with chairs, bottles and other objects.

I dont think we should group violence into severity. Violence is violence and should not be accepted in football.

Of course you can group it into severity. Watch the video. There's a difference between having a fight and attacking people having a drink, beating the crap out of someone lying on the ground. Again, I'm not saying there aren't a lot of English c**ts. But to put them in the same category isn't right.

Sorry, no-one knows and most likely, no-one will know before the deadline. It is a straight up 50:50

FWIW, I think most people in this situation are prepared to transfer out 1 or 2 points and risk a blank. I certainly wouldn't transfer out more than that though.

      A. Would be reluctant to captain a goalkeeper.

Still have captaincy on Giroud, would you risk taking it off him and giving it to Alaba?

If you've been on Giroud this long you might as well keep it on him.

That decision has to be made after France's match... If you do it now you have loose three oportunities of captain change

I was on a stag do from Friday evening. I'm only just bringing myself round to even looking at a screen now.

This article states that Junozovic is on set pieces, but the set piece guide says it's Alaba. Anyone?

They share them out it seems. In the qualifiers (which to me are a better metric than friendlies) Alaba took 5 freekicks and 25 corners to Junuzovic's 6 freekicks and 33 corners. Alaba on pens though.

They share them (corners and fk's). Alaba on pens though

I guess many of us will be wildcarding after matchday 1. I probably will even though I had planned to do this after matchday 2. I have 2 players probably injured and a number of underperforming players. Are you also planning to wildcard?

Daily 7s is a great game imo. What is everyone's rank in that game? The Busdriver might have a good rank after yesterday's performance. 🙂

OR of 845. Was 23rd after day 2 but keep slipping since. Will probably go very punty from now on though

Alaba & Rui Patricio to make captain,

Accidentally subbed out Sommer (big mistake I know) so I have no points for my goalkeepers, but Alaba could do well against Hungary, thoughts?

        Alaba or Patricio?
