The second round of group matches continue at pace, with DraftKings managers again assessing the talent on offer as we form our eight-man squads.

Friday’s fixtures provide more teams who will be forced to attack in a bid to earn a foothold in the tournament.

Both Turkey and the Czech Republic suffered defeat in their opener, leaving them little option but to seek three points this time around.

The Turks face the daunting task of overcoming a Spanish side who dominated the Czechs in their opener, eventually translating possession into a cutting edge via Gerard Pique’s glancing header.

The Czech Republic showed enough in that defeat to suggest that they will still have a say in Group D, but must now look to better a Croatian side that bristled with attacking menace in their win over Turkey.

Over in Group E, Italy will look to build on a superb display against Belgium by disposing of Sweden to book passage to the knock-out phase. The Swedes rescued a point against the Republic of Ireland and will likely look to soak up Italian pressure, again relying on the influence of Zlatan Ibrahimović to see them through.

We’ve analysed the six squads on offer to arrive at another set of DraftKings targets who seem destined to make key contributions in Friday’s contests.

Ladislav Krejci – Czech Republic, – $6800
The fleet-footed left-winger provided crosses at a faster rate than any other Czech Republic player during qualifying. He maintained that record during five appearances in friendlies and impressed again in the defeat to Spain, providing 10 crossed balls. His pace and supply line looks set to be vital in the crunch clash with Croatia.

Caner Erkin – Turkey, – $4100
Turkey’s forward-thinking left-back thrived in the qualifying rounds. The 27-year-old provided more crosses and interceptions than any other Turkey player, ranked second for tackles won and even fired in nine goal attempts. Inter snapped him up prior to the tournament and Erkin duly impressed in his Euro 16 bow, providing six crosses and a shot on target in the defeat to Croatia.

Marcelo Brosovic – Croatia, – $4900
The 23-year-old midfielder contributed two goals to the Croatian cause in qualifying and followed this up with another pair of strikes heading into the tournament. It was Brosovic rather than striker Mario Mandzukic who provided the major threat in the win over Turkey, firing in six efforts on goal, five from within the penalty area.

Ivan Perisic – Croatia, – $7100
Another to impress in Croatia’s tournament opener. Perisic contributed an all-round shift against Turkey that saw him win three tackles and make three interceptions, while he was unfortunate not to claim a goal following his raids into the box that brought two attempts. The Inter midfielder top scored in qualifying with six goals, registering more attempts than any of his team-mates. A first Euro 16 goal is beckoning.

Antonio Candreva – Italy, – $7200
Candreva was a key component of Italy’s qualifying campaign, providing more crosses and goalscoring opportunities than any team-mate. The Lazio winger’s display in the impressive 2-0 win over Belgium saw his stock rise further as he tormented Jan Vertonghen throughout, swinging in ten crosses and providing three chances for team-mates, including the assist for Graziano Pelle’s coup de grace.

DraftKings contests for Friday’s matches are now available, including a $3 entry “Striker” with a $10k prize pot.

DraftKings is available only to those aged 18 or over. Be sure to take note of their Terms and Conditions here.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I like him and he gets chances since teams will focus on Lewa. Ukraine out too so not sure they'll care about their defence much.

Not good, very little attacking threat. Sat back and relied on Cech, but they were against Spain who had something ridiculous like 75% possession. You'd imagine Croatia's midfield should mean a similar game - hard to see many goals.

Italy will make a couple of changes. Darmian is definitely going to lose his place. Eder and Parolo may also drop out. Thiago Motta might start over De Rossi.

Incredibly frustrating contrast on the clean sheet front for England and Germany. Neither Russia nor Wales created any meaningful volume of chances against England and yet both clean sheets were broken. Germany on the other hand gifted chance after chance to Ukraine and Poland but through blind luck on their part come out with two clean sheets.

You could glibly say "never bet against the Germans" but that wasn't of their own doing. Bah. 🙂

Not sure about chance after chance - Germany have conceded just 4 shots in the box in two games, and 2 big chances.

England haven't conceded any big chances, though, and I do agree they've been unfortunate to let in the goals they have.

That's the problem, ceiling isn't very high and you'll have a headache thinking whether to switch with his likely 6 points. Perisic because he has a higher ceiling, and you have Ronaldo if that goes wrong. 🙂

I personally wouldn't, 6 points is a lot in this game and I last week went from Giroud to Dragović. I could also see Austria playing a lot better than last week, Ronaldo would need more than a goal to beat Juanfran for points and we've seen how low scoring this competition has been so far. 😀

Ramos. If you had Ronaldo on the last day I'd take a chance on Perisic but the way this tournament is going I think Spain have a better chance of keeping a CS than Perisic does of getting an attacking return.

For the rest of the tournament. Hector goes forward a lot so he keeps the balance.

Nice, thanks. Was just wondering whether Germany might give Can a game but a draw v Poland should mean the first choice backline 🙂

I just know that the one time I will decide to captain a defender, will be the time when attackers explode

My current plan is to wildcard after this gameweek and load up on GW 3 gold and potential price risers before the R16 "wildcard". Good plan?

Would probably mean a crap bench for both.

Well I'm just wildcarding in the best options for next week. Haven't thought about price risers.

you're not the only one, it's probably a decent strategy but i'm probably not doing it. i just think the benefits of a knockout stages wildcard outweigh having some extra budget for me, but it really depends on a lot of factors. either way you have to trust in your ability to do something, whether it's choosing a good team on a skimpier budget, or negotiating the entire KO stages without hits/non-starters/etc.

also, i should add, i have quite a few that are likely to rise anyway. if i had a poorer team i'd be more inclined to do what you're doing.

Just 4 FT available. Allows you go for potential big point scorers in last 16 and not be concerned if they don't go through. Can also pick 2 or 3 4m fodders and get a good 12 with half an eye towards semis.

right now i'd say giacc's a better pick if he plays but he's probably more likely to get rotated. we'll learn more tomorrow perhaps.
