Today’s first Euro 2016 match is only the second British home nations clash at a major tournament, as England take on Wales in Group B.

The two sides have a long history on the international stage, having played each other 102 times, with England winning 66 times to Wales’ 14 victories, the last of which came in 1984.

Chris Coleman’s Wales go into the match on the back of a confidence building 2-1 win against Slovakia, where an impressive eight of their 11 goal attempts were on target.

In contrast England’s confidence took a knock after they conceded in injury time in their 1-1 draw with Russia. Roy Hodgson’s team will have to be more clinical if they are to beat Wales after seeing two thirds of their 15 goal attempts against Russia fail to hit the target.

A performance to rival that of their only previous home nations major tournament tie, when they beat Scotland in Euro 96, may be needed if England is to get the better of their noisy neighbours.

For those are saying the ball was onside because it rebounded off the defender, this is from the BBC Sport page.

However, a player does not necessarily have to touch the ball to influence play. They are still offside if, in the opinion of the referee, they are judged to be:

Interfering with an opponent If an attacker interferes with an opponent by either preventing them from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the opponent's line of vision or movements or making a gesture or movement which deceives or distracts an opponent, then they are offside.

Gaining an advantage If the ball is played into the penalty area and he plays the ball that rebounds to him off a post, crossbar or an opposing defender, then the attacker is offside as they have gained an advantage by being in that position.

^This more importantly. When the cross was given when he still was onside. If no english player touched it after that, then he still was onside when he got it.

Not necessarily even then, since for me at least, that was a deliberate headed pass by Williams. If so, it wold not have been an offside foul even if he had been standing in offside for the whole match.

This isn't right. He was spot on in the Russia game but ballsed up his subs - I don't think many dispute that. He gave Kane another chance but made the changes when Kane wasn't performing. Sound.

In my experience when you say something and people queue up to say you are wrong, you usually are. Best to stop at that point, don't worry about it 🙂

bit of a dilemma, want NI to win but I need to pick a goalscorer and with Lafferty dropped I don't fancy anyone from NI, as I used S. Davis last time. Don't expect Washington to play 90

    a) JEvans
    b) Yarm
    c) Kono
    d) other
