Friday’s final fixture takes in the Group D clash between Spain and a Turkey side looking for their first points of Euro 2016.

This is the first time the two sides have met in a major finals, while in their previous 10 encounters Spain have won nine. Turkey’s only victory came in a World Cup qualifier in 1954.

Although Vicente del Bosque’s Spain won their first game 1-0 over the Czech Republic, the former World Cup winners were far from convincing with 13 of their 18 goal attempts failing to hit the target.

Turkey will be hoping Spain can continue their profligate goal threat after conceding a worrying 15 shots in the box in their 1-0 defeat to Croatia. Indeed, over their 13 European Championship games Turkey have kept just two clean sheets.

Strange question perhaps but would you rather have Ronaldo (HUN) or KDB (SWE) in your team?

      Ronaldo (HUN)

Ronaldo. But I'll probably have KDB.

The grand GW 2 WC plan:
      Rui Patricio (Williams)
      Giaccherini Bonucci Hector Juanfran (Guerreiro)
De Bruyne Perisic Ozil Hamsik Payet
      Bale (Nani, Nolito)

Can't fit Ronaldo in there. 🙁

      Good to go?

I can't see Portugal making it far. And Hungary has already shown they're pretty decent. Belgium have their backs up against the wall. They need two wins.

Interesting indeed. Who's Williams? £4.0m keeper?

And I would consider Howedes ahead of Juanfran 🙂 Maybe allowing you to upgrade Williams?

Why is everyone set on WCing after MD2? Given you have a decent team, isn't it worth saving the WC until after 1/8 or 1/4?

Some favorites will definately get knocked out early and it would allow more short-sighted team building after the groups?

The main thing throwing me off a wildcard right now is that I feel like I still don't have enough to go on..

Lots of the teams are still holding their cards close to their chest at the moment. Northern Ireland showed in GW2 that these teams are capable of turning poor performances around. Who's to say Germany / France / Spain won't suddenly turn on the style as they progress through the tournament?

Gotze, Gomez, Griezmann, Morata, Cesc for some random examples that could look much better options for the QFs than they do at the moment.

I'm not happy owning some of my players and would love 2FTs, so I can understand the WC urge as a 1 week punt, but it feels knee-jerky.

For some of us its a necessity 🙂

Have seen some good MD1 wildcards and need to gain back ground, all about the group stages for me, Everyone will have the same players next week!

        1. djpete

          10 years, 2 days ago

That's the problem. Can't work out the best approach. Probably solid defence x 4, 3 x cheapies, a mixtures of solid and diff up front. Vardy, Bale, Ronaldo are all up there, Slovakia mids...

I think we will see a change of style after the group stages and not so many clean sheets so I think if you make your WC now you may regret not having it later.

        • 13 Years
        10 years, 2 days ago

True, but at least we'll know the fixtures and we'll surely be balancing the team out early on anyway, 4m/4.5m players will be on the qf benches so may as well be in from the round of 16 benches.

This is why I WCed this week (fat lot of good it has done me ... ) - because I dont think we will know who will be rested and who will be brought in ....

If I still had my WC I would hang on for the QF now

      • 11 Years

WC Gw1 was a necessity for many who went too differential and had a rather poor outing. But, wildcarding this Gw is unnecessary really. We don't know who would rotate or if there will actually be rotation because except Italy no one are almost assured to be group leaders. Although, the prospect doesn't seem the worst at QF either. Having a non-template side surrounded by template sides is a good thing really.

Why are Croatia higher than Spain in the table at the moment?

      Is it goals scored?

This, and just because they exist doesn't mean teams actually have the points until the game is finished.

Considering the amount of trouble at this Euros how are they going to prevent similar/worse scenes as the 2018 world cup in Russia.

      It will be an embarrassment

Russia will be a joke. Most of the stadiums will be in Moscow, which means most fan sets will also be there. It will be a complete bloodbath.

And as for Qatar, the game tempo will be even slower than these games....
