Saturday brings to a close the second round of group matches, with Groups E and F in focus.

The day’s opening clash features Belgium, widely considered a contender to win the tournament, who now face a fight for survival having suffered a 2-0 reverse at the hands of Italy in their first fixture. They’ll face a determined Republic of Ireland outfit who let slip a one-goal advantage against Sweden to register a draw in their opening tie.

Both must go for the three points this time around, with Marc Wilmot’s men seeking to improve on their conversion of chances, having fired in 18 attempts against the Italians without reward.

Martin O’Neill’s side will struggle to match that threat, although they notched four shots on target against the Swedes, their best total in any previous European Championship tournament outing.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

          Best four numbers 3 will go through

          group A: number 3 will have 2~4 points
          group B: number 3 will have 3~6 points
          group C: number 3 will have 3~4 points
          group D: number 3 will have 2~4 points
          group E: number 3 will have 2~4 points (this is if ireland draws everything, they may even get 2nd place if sweden belgium also draw)
          group F: too early to tell

          so it kind of depends on the other groups + goal difference but it's not unlikely.

      I had a mate that insisted that if he was a pro footballer he would grow an afro so big then hollow out a ball shape in top so that he could catch the ball in his afro and run the full length of the pitch to score at the other end. He was 100% sure no-one woudl be able to tackle him legally.

      We may have been drinking when he came up with this but I remember it very clearly.

        Its the big teams or the pretournament favourites that have failed to exert their authority in this tournament.

        Part of this is down the the extension of the tournament to 24 teams which although it may have pleased the Wales/Ireland/Iceland fans who qualified, it has completely diluted the quality of the tournament.

          Tbf, De Bruyne has been amazing for Belgium so far, just not his tournament it seems. Although he still managed to create all of our chances last game and so far, also all of the chances in this game.
