Sunday marks the start of the final round of group matches, posing DraftKings managers a new challenge when compiling their contest squads.

The teamsheets become far less predictable at this point in the tournament. Teams such as France head into their final group encounter having already booked their place in the knock-out phase; they may now look to manage resources in preparation for challenges ahead.

That will inevitably lead to changes to the regular line-up, ensuring that managers need to stay on their toes and react prior to kick-off. Fortunately, DraftKings allows us to take in the teamsheets before each match, adjusting our eight-man squads accordingly.

Didier Deschamps already showed his hand, changing up his starting XI for the win over Albania by dropping both Paul Pogba and Antoine Griezmann to the bench.

He will doubtless be considering options ahead of a clash with Switzerland which will ultimately decide who wins the group.

The Swiss may well be content with the point that would seal the runners-up spot. However, Romania are still in contention and facing an Albanian side who are yet to register a point.

Even the Albanian’s can earn passage should they muster a win, although they will need to boost their goal difference to have the opportunity of finishing amongst the top four third placed sides.

It’s a scenario that could yet lead to fireworks on the final day of Group A.

Here’s our selection of DraftKings targets that we’ve identified as likely impact players over Sunday’s contests.

Antoine Griezmann – France, – $9500
The Atletico forward emerged from the bench to snatch a crucial opener against Albania and could now earn a recall. Griezmann fired 32 goals for his club last season and was expected to be a leading light in the French bid for the trophy. Should Deschamps include him in his starting XI, the onus will be on Griezmann to perform and we suspect that he may just rise to the occasion.

Fabian Schar – Switzerland, $3600
The Swiss seem likely to sit back against the French and rely on set-pieces as their main threat. No other side scored more goals direct from corners in qualifying than Vladimir Petković’s side and Schar has already profited from such a scenario in their opening win over Albania. France has shown fragility defending set-pieces so Schar looks well placed to make his mark again.

Gabriel Torje – Romania, $6200
The diminutive midfielder was brought into the side against Switzerland having missed out in the opening day defeat to France. A quick-footed attacking player, although he failed to score or assist in qualifying, he produced more crosses and goal attempts than any other team-mate. Torje was a bright spark in the Swiss stalemate, supplying nine crosses and winning two tackles. He’ll be expected to retain his start for the Albania clash, providing a strong option for our squads in a match that Romania have to win.

Emir Lenjani – Albania, $4700
Lenjani was the only player to play a part in more than one of Albania’s seven goals scored in qualifying. A left-back for his club Nantes, he’s been converted to a winger for his country and will be a likely key figure against the Romanians. Despite playing at full-back in France, Lenjani averaged more completed crosses per match than any Nantes team-mate and ranked second for crossed balls and goal attempts for Albania during qualifying.

DraftKings contests for Sunday’s matches are now available, including a $3 entry “Striker” with a $10k prize pot. The deadline for today’s contests is 8pm UK time.

DraftKings is available only to those aged 18 or over. Be sure to take note of their Terms and Conditions here and play responsibly.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    A) Ronaldo Bale Milik
    B) Lukaku Bale Muller

Muller, Ronaldo equally likely to get price drop.
What about Lukaku, fancy him against Sweden?

    Or
    C) Lukaku Bale Milik (Since Muller hasn't really fired yet?) and use cash to upgrade Kroos/Hamsik/Perisic to maybe KDB?

    Please help:

    Patricio / Sommer
    Dier / Hector / Giaccherini / Rami / Juanfran
    Fabregas / Payet / Perisic / Alli / Alaba
    Morata / Giroud / Muller

What to do? Giroud might not start. Muller is looking poor?

Thanks and apologies for the spelling!

      Very similar to my situation.

      I'm keeping Muller.

If Giroud is benched he is out for Vardy (with Kane becoming Bale).

If Giroud starts, I dont know what I will do.

Muller is definitely not poor playing... he just haven't been given any real chances. Its Gotze who's useless for the Germans screwing things up ... Imo he's stolen chances and assists from Muller.

Hmm I think he will. But the most likely player in our defence that will be rotated throughout the tournament. If we go to the next round and we play against a more attacking team than Ireland, I think Ciman/Denayer will be given a chance.

Ciman is really poor IMO. Denayer should be first choice, but I need a player for next match only. So safe to get him against Sweden?

Harsh comment on Ciman since you have probably seen only a few of his games 😀 He's just another type of defender than Meunier. He always played as a CB, more experienced player. Meunier on the other hand was still playing as a winger 3 years ago or something. He has way more attacking potential but lacks experience in defending against better attacking teams.

But since there was a lot of pressure on Wilmots to play more attacking before the game, and we face a Sweden with 0 shots on target so far, I think he'll go with Meunier again indeed.

Anyone else think Iceland will beat Austria? Austria were dark horses for me at the start of the tournament, but have failed to impress, and there was an air of cockyness after the Portugal game with the way the team/fans were celebrating after the game, as if they had qualified! Iceland will have something to say about that

Do people really think there's going to be lots of rotation for this GW? The way I see it only Italy are guaranteed to top their group... France will finish 2nd if they lose tonight, England and Wales will both want to win, Germany and Poland, Croatia could overtake Spain, group F is wide open. Pretty sure most teams will be full strength

    Strategy question for MD3 lads:

Given rotational uncertainties is anybody thinking of not using substitutions feature and relying on auto subs?

This particularly applies to those with Italy players - won't know the team and is last match so could end up with zeros.

I personably have Buffon and Bonucci - worried that neither will play. Therefore should I just put then both in the starting lineup (as if they play they would be my first choices) and if they don't play auto subs come in?

Guess it depends really as you are losing out on the substitutions feature. However I have the likes of Kozacik and Strinic who I am happy to bench and could be auto subbed on for Buffon and Bonucci.

It wouldn't be an issue if we knew the Italy lineup but we won't.

    Opinions much appreciated!

Maybe it depends when your players are playing - if Day 1 players fail, forget Plan A and sub in players; but if you have a few Day 3 players who fail, then you can't start subbing in - if that makes sense.

Yeah it does thanks. Captaincy rules don't work in favour of the above though

The captaincy switches can't be done either I've just read so kind of scuppers the above plan 🙁

I think this is a solid strategy. I assume you have a reliable captaincy option from the first 2 games so you'd know lineups and can give one the armband. If your captain is a success, you can stick to the above plan.

If not, you should make use of the manual subs in order to swap captaincy. The rest becomes a lot trickier
