Sunday marks the start of the final round of group matches, posing DraftKings managers a new challenge when compiling their contest squads.

The teamsheets become far less predictable at this point in the tournament. Teams such as France head into their final group encounter having already booked their place in the knock-out phase; they may now look to manage resources in preparation for challenges ahead.

That will inevitably lead to changes to the regular line-up, ensuring that managers need to stay on their toes and react prior to kick-off. Fortunately, DraftKings allows us to take in the teamsheets before each match, adjusting our eight-man squads accordingly.

Didier Deschamps already showed his hand, changing up his starting XI for the win over Albania by dropping both Paul Pogba and Antoine Griezmann to the bench.

He will doubtless be considering options ahead of a clash with Switzerland which will ultimately decide who wins the group.

The Swiss may well be content with the point that would seal the runners-up spot. However, Romania are still in contention and facing an Albanian side who are yet to register a point.

Even the Albanian’s can earn passage should they muster a win, although they will need to boost their goal difference to have the opportunity of finishing amongst the top four third placed sides.

It’s a scenario that could yet lead to fireworks on the final day of Group A.

Here’s our selection of DraftKings targets that we’ve identified as likely impact players over Sunday’s contests.

Antoine Griezmann – France, – $9500
The Atletico forward emerged from the bench to snatch a crucial opener against Albania and could now earn a recall. Griezmann fired 32 goals for his club last season and was expected to be a leading light in the French bid for the trophy. Should Deschamps include him in his starting XI, the onus will be on Griezmann to perform and we suspect that he may just rise to the occasion.

Fabian Schar – Switzerland, $3600
The Swiss seem likely to sit back against the French and rely on set-pieces as their main threat. No other side scored more goals direct from corners in qualifying than Vladimir Petković’s side and Schar has already profited from such a scenario in their opening win over Albania. France has shown fragility defending set-pieces so Schar looks well placed to make his mark again.

Gabriel Torje – Romania, $6200
The diminutive midfielder was brought into the side against Switzerland having missed out in the opening day defeat to France. A quick-footed attacking player, although he failed to score or assist in qualifying, he produced more crosses and goal attempts than any other team-mate. Torje was a bright spark in the Swiss stalemate, supplying nine crosses and winning two tackles. He’ll be expected to retain his start for the Albania clash, providing a strong option for our squads in a match that Romania have to win.

Emir Lenjani – Albania, $4700
Lenjani was the only player to play a part in more than one of Albania’s seven goals scored in qualifying. A left-back for his club Nantes, he’s been converted to a winger for his country and will be a likely key figure against the Romanians. Despite playing at full-back in France, Lenjani averaged more completed crosses per match than any Nantes team-mate and ranked second for crossed balls and goal attempts for Albania during qualifying.

DraftKings contests for Sunday’s matches are now available, including a $3 entry “Striker” with a $10k prize pot. The deadline for today’s contests is 8pm UK time.

DraftKings is available only to those aged 18 or over. Be sure to take note of their Terms and Conditions here and play responsibly.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I presume I'm missing something here, what with everyone WCing - can anyone clarify?

Making Transfers - "Unlimited transfers can be made at no cost until your first deadline and between group and knockout stages"

Player Prices - "Player prices will change after the group stage depending on performance during the tournament"

So for everyone on WC now so catch the price increases, won't the free transfers in between group and knockout coincide with player prices beginning "after the group stage"? Or is there some time gap I can't see where prices can rise but we can't make unlimited transfers?

    1. Scheister
      • 13 Years
      10 years, 10 hours ago

It's pretty unclear. Most are assuming that you would miss the price rises if you wait until after match day 3, like fpl. Not quite positive though.

I understand that a WC now gives you a great match day 3, and can get rid of some Italy players that may be rested. But does that outweigh the fact that you only have 4 FTs during quarter finals, it seems wise to use WC then?

      1. Dr Kenneth Noisewater
        • 12 Years
        10 years, 10 hours ago

True if you've loaded up on Italy it could be wise, plus a good time to get differentials. I reckon some surprise results up to quarters could scupper a team more though. Will hold onto mine.

Is it not possible the prices have already changed when the transfer window opens between group stage and round of 16? Then we'd be stuck with our droppers, watching the risers being out of our reach.

      1. Scheister
        • 13 Years
        10 years, 10 hours ago

That is possible, yes. No clue how much any price will change though. And exactly when.
That being said, who do you think will rise, and fall?

          • 13 Years

^This. Both Camp No No & Scheister make very important points. I have been playing around with my potential WC if I were to make it before QF (making educated guesses on http://euro2016.eurosport.co.uk/) and looks like we might be priced out in trying to get 15 starters across each of the 4 games. As against WCing now and getting in the likes of Bale, etc. who will rise post round 3.

Your guess is as good as mine on how much they will rise or fall!

I do think the game will be locked after the group stages and the prices will rise before we are allowed to make unlimited subs.

IS it worth using WC this week? There's a decent chance of rotation with a few teams (France, Spain, Italy, maybe Germany) and if I bring in any players whose teams don't qualify wouldn't that be a waste?

    My team currently:
    Patricio
    Hector - Alba - Rami
    Stanciu - Perisic - Payet - Kroos
    Muller - Giroud - Milik

Sorry for the (partial) repost. Really mulling over this WC thing, like everyone else I suppose.

WC now gets you a great match day 3. And possibly ahead of the price rises. However, WC during QF seems a good punt, since only 4 FTs are given, and we'll have unlimited after match day 3 anyway. That being said, here is my WC team:

    Halldrosson Tatarusanu
    Juanfran Hector Jedrzejczyk Guerreiro Vertonghen
    KDB Hamsik Payet Kroos Siggy
    Milik Bale Nolito

Worth it to get rid of current team?:

    Alli Hamsik Payet Perisic Ozil
    Giroud Muller Nolito

Why are y'all panicking about the price changes, is this the first time you are playing Euro/WC fantasy?

The prices will be updated yes, but the available budget will rise accordingly; there is NO point in hoarding players who "might go up" before the next matches. Geez.
