Monday evening hands DraftKings managers the final two Group B fixtures to consider as both England and Wales look to book a place in the knockout stages.

As evidenced by France’s starting XI last night, which saw Didier Deschamps make five changes to his line-up, rest and rotation is sure to play a part in this final round of matches.

Fortunately, DraftKings allows us to take in the teamsheets before each fixture, adjusting our eight-man squads accordingly.

This could be particularly pertinent tonight, given the growing reports that suggest England could make up to six alterations, with the likes of Nathaniel Clyne ($4600), Ryan Bertrand ($4500), Jack Wilshere ($5100) and Jordan Henderson ($4700) all worthy of our consideration if selected.

Roy Hodgson has a real dilemma up front for England’s showdown with Slovakia after Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge both emerged from the bench to grab a goal apiece in the 2-1 comeback win over Wales. The duo will be pushing for a start as the Three Lions look for a victory that would ensure they finish top of the group.

Slovakia duo Marek Hamsik and Vladimir Weiss both bagged a goal and assist against Russia last time out and carry the main threat to England’s chances.

Bottom of the table Russia are still in with a shout of progressing. Indeed, a win over Wales, coupled with a triumph for England, would clinch second spot for Leonid Slutsky’s side, though they face a tough task to stop Gareth Bale from scoring for the third successive outing.

We’ve assessed this evening’s couple of encounters to help steer your DraftKings selections ahead of Monday’s contests.

Daniel Sturridge – England, – $9200
The Liverpool frontman may well be set for his first start of the tournament after grabbing a late winner over Wales. Introduced after the break, Sturridge produced four attempts against Chris Coleman’s side – more than any team-mate – and his eye for goal could prove pivotal against a Slovakia backline that’s mustered a single clean sheet in their last six outings.

Aaron Ramsey – Wales – $7700
An all-round option in the centre of the park, Ramsey has attempted more tackles than any player in the tournament and sits joint-top amongst all midfielders for efforts on target. The number one for corners under Chris Coleman, he’s produced more crosses than any Wales player so far and also supplied an assist in the opening 2-1 win over Slovakia.

Oleg Shatov – Russia, – $7100
Russia’s main man for dead-ball duties supplied seven crosses and earned an assist in the 2-1 loss to Slovakia last week. Stationed in a central support role, Shatov – who served up seven goals and eight assists for Zenit St Petersburg in 2015/16 – looks a key figure as Leonid Slutsky’s side attempt to get the better of Wales and clinch a slot in the knockout stages.

Chris Gunter – Wales, – $3800
The Wales defender offers a budget-friendly option for the utility slot in our eight-man DraftKings line-ups. Not only has Gunter seen more of the ball in the final third than fellow wing-back Neil Taylor, he’s matched the Swansea City man for crosses and betters him for successful tackles ahead of tonight’s crucial head-to-head with Russia.

DraftKings contests for Monday’s matches are now available, including a $3 entry “Striker” with a $10k prize pot. The deadline for today’s contests is 8pm UK time.

DraftKings is available only to those aged 18 or over. Be sure to take note of their Terms and Conditions here and play responsibly.

Are there any Italian defenders guaranteed to start the next game or any where it has been confirmed they won't?

Thanks. From that would you assume Ogbonna is nailed on then?

Who is the back up keeper as there is absolutely no point playing Buffon if he is on a yellow?

I'd like to know how to change captain from yesterday to player who will play today. I know I could put a player from the bench instead yesterday captain but I don't know how to change captain to another who is already in starting 11.

    Berisha Neuer

    Jesrejczuk Walker Rami Muenier Guerrero

    KDB Lallana Ozil Grosiki Coman

    Ronaldo Sturridge Gomez

Wild carded to this in a real hurry last night. Do I have too many risky players? I know Walker is out already today.

Grosicki rumoured not to start, see above. Guerreiro didn't train today, thigh injury, currently assessed. Not sure about Gomez.

Wildcarded too and looks like Alli is not starting and Guerreiro is a doubt, so could be down to 13 starters already.

I have both Sturridge and Hamsik but have gone with Hamsik - I think a differential as everyone will be backing England to win. England's defence is suspect so I don't think it is a huge risk

I've been quite impressed with England's defence, haven't conceded any big chances. With Clyne and Bertrand rumoured to be coming in, that's huge upgrades defensively since Walker and Rose are virtually like wingers.

Fair points but I have a significant distrust of Smalling's defensive capabilities - he's good in the air from set pieces but slow, cumbersome and a liability in my view

                9 years, 8 months ago

I'll be honest here. I am a United fan and I do believe Smalling is a little too overhyped/overrated. Don't get me wrong, he is a great defender but many seem to think he is absolutely brilliant - the best CB in the league. I don't think so. I wouldn't say he is a liability but he isn't as good as he is thought out to be.

France game about 4k short of capacity.

The massive headliner of Romania v Albania pulled in over 49k in a 59k max stadium.

Don't think those are bad numbers considering how tickets are distributed to corporations and sold to public.

So it's more a case of Wanyama wanted to sign for Poch as opposed to Arsenal didn't want him.
What does this mean for Soton next season. Gotta feel for them losing all their top managers and players for last few seasons

Yeah, sounds like it. Not good news for Soton - especially with a new manager coming in. I doubt whether Koeman's replacement will be able to replicate Mr. K's excellent season considering there might be further upheaval with players leaving.

Very true, they both have age on their side. Are you referring to lukaku or morata?

Morata is rated at 50 odd million, for a guy yet to score 10 league goals in a season that's hard to justify especially when Jamie Vardy (yes, is 29 but scored 20+ and we know is used to the PL) is available for less than half the price.

I guess it is crazy money these days though, if troy deeney is rated at 25 odd million plus then morata being at 50m is probably correct, as absurd as that sounds

I am now quite sure you haven't watched Morata play many times. He is not deployed as a lone forward for Juventus. Rather a deeper role and this has reflected in his assist numbers. He has been excellent for Spain at the Euros and I personally think he has a higher ceiling than Lukaku (although Rom is better atm)

Not happy with this criticism for Saints over Wanyama transfer. We've tried to get him to sign a new contract for the last 18 months but he wants CL football which we can't provide. It was either sell or lose him for nothing next year. This has nothing to do with Koeman leaving, nor is Koeman anything to do with our excellent recruitment network which has rescued us in the past. I can't see why it would suddenly fail. In fact, the transfer committee is part of the reason Rudi Garcia declined the Saints job - wanted more control.

Clear lack of ambition in letting your managers and players leave every season. Relegation beckons 😉

Seriously though, I feel you've been very hard done to as a club to have suffered from so many individuals deciding they're better off elsewhere and leaving you no option but to rescue the situation with excellent recruitment and organisation. Credit to those who have achieved what you have in spite of the circumstances.

We've developed a reputation as a stepping stone club for both managers and players. Players either let contracts run down or demand transfers (e.g. Lallana). It's a bit of a problem and I can't see it changing because we won't make the next step (where they all go) without a sugar daddy.

I'm still hopeful (although not expectant) that Townsend may stay - he's certainly not desperate to move having enjoyed playing for us so far. Hopefully Benitez staying on helps to sway his decision.

There are some I'm sure will go: Wijnaldum, Janmaat, Sissoko...

Some talent will leave but it might start to improve the overall team attitude.

I don't see the big problem with losing wanyama. Yes he has done decent but he's not a top top defensive mid.

Get the money and invest elsewhere, I am sure the southampton scouts have their eye on better replacements

I think he's really good but his disciplinary record last season was absolutely shocking. I'm assuming we can find a calmer head. While I agree he's not a 'top, top' defensive mid, we aren't realistically going to recruit a better one.

It's fine being a selling club and losing one or two each season I suppose. Although every time there is an exodus it is a gamble. One of these days Saints will lose that gamble I fear.

This is speaking from a supporter of a similar team in Scotland, Dundee United. We have a good youth academy and scouting network (relatively speaking), and were challenging for silverware, playing attractive football to boot, from about 2009-2015. However one transfer window raid too many and we went from being top of the league in December 2014 to marooned at bottom of table 10 months later. We are now relegated and I'm not sure we'll go back up any time soon. A similar fate happened to Hibernian.

Yeah, I assumed Wanyama had 1 year left, otherwise why sell him for less than they paid.

What I do wonder, though, Lucy, is whether the impending loss of players was behind Koeman's departure. I know you say that the club had been trying to get Wanyama to sign a new contract but for what wages? It would need to be equivalent to what he can get at Spurs for example. And I don't actually see why Southampton couldn't afford to do that if they wanted to. Just as Leicester have gone to £100k+ for Vardy (reportedly).
